At the back of the Parktool Big Blue Book of Bicycle repair and maintenance there use to be a table listing torque settings for the different parts. Have to add that my book is 8 or 9 years old though.

We take the N12 the last couple of years. Starting from Potch it doesn't really make much difference as we are already on the N12. And we organised wonderful accommodation at some friends in Kimberley.

What route are you guys driving down? N1 or N12?

We came all the way from Potch. Our day already started at 3h00 waking up and leaving from the farm at 4h00. But for us it is worth the effort as it is one of the better organised races.

Ek het ook in Ottosdal gery en dieselfde as julle beleef. Dit moet seker weens al die klippe en dorings? Ek het ook twee papwiel-gevalle gehelp...ek was tog nie oppad om te wen nie .

Ek hoop ook so! Maar dit behoort steeds 'n lekker dag vir fietsry te wees. Hierdie is een van my gunsteling wedrenne juis omdat dit op die platteland is.

It seems that almost everybody that had their say in this particular thread are actually living in Gauteng. We are from the more rural areas as you would call it. So for races, not just the 94.7, think Ride 4 Sight, Berge en Dale etc, we have to travel or arrange to pick up our numbers. In most cases that would result in that someone in the cycling gang has to take the day off and do the round trip of about 300km. Luckily we can fetch our numbers at registration on race day at most races which I am most grateful for.

Hope everybody is ready for the corrugated roads come this weekend, we haven't had any rain. Let's hope for some rain this week otherwise it will be a dusty affair!

Chainscrubber from Parktools and engine cleaner. Works a treat. Start with engine cleaner, rinse with water, dry with rag and you have a clean chain in 10 minutes.
