  1. worst was the hills, you feel like you want to push but then the HR starts climbing. And then also near the end where you are now tired of holding back, the temptation to push gets more. With the heat and the distance i still felt like I had a good workout.
  2. correct, I was at mid 30s at smits, dropped to high 20s by the time I finished suikers, but having the fitness last year I was able to put my head down and pick it up to high 29s by the finish. Thats why the goal for this years fitness is more hills, so by 2023 I'll be a stronger climber.
  3. in 2021 50% of the time I was in Zone 4 and close to 30% of the time in Zone 5, there wasnt really much more to give
  4. pretty much
  5. With this screen up on my Garmin I managed a 70km ride without going higher than Zone 2, and even Zone 2 I only spent 8 minutes there with the rest in Zone 1
  6. As an entry level tool, how do you guys rate the Dexter tools ? Leroy Merlin has a Dexter Impact Wrench, with a 2.5aH battery and charger its comes in at 1700. Thats dirt cheap and I'm thinking for my occasional use it will work well.
  7. surely if it had a Tankwa race number attached it should be very easy to track it back to its owner?
  8. but the hills are the biggest areas where I lost time, breaking away from the group (out the back) and having to find another after the hill.
  9. yeah, I'm wondering how I'm going to get from 3:40 to under 3:30. The only place I can think of to make up the time is the hills. But I've left the hill training a little late.
  10. or if you decide to take a slow CTCT like I did with my dad a few years back.
  11. yeah that was rather sneeky. I suspect there are some politics at play with 947. What it means is the only seeding race I did for this years CTCT was last years CTCT.
  12. Zone 1 ride out to BRB. looks like another busy day for BRB today.
  13. Have another mate starting in 2B too, maybe I should drop back a group and ride with you.
  14. 2A, up from 3A last year.
  15. Is the 947 no longer a seeding race for CTCT ? Checking my seeding now on racetec and see 947 has not been used to calculate my current seeding. Still waiting for my email
  16. strip of chamois cream over the eyebrows and in between them. But this has now presented another problem, the sweat dripping off the sides of the eyebrow sometimes then drips onto the inside of the lens meaning I still have to take them off and clean
  17. even with those tools I'd be k@k scared to do anything. I've watched these snake catching shows, and even the pros have a hard time.
  18. It is a hard battle, I have configured a screen on my garmin to show me nothing else but HR, hoping to not be tempted by a low speed reading as this is generally what makes me up the pace.
  19. Thanks Dexter, I'm going to check out the one that Decathlon sell first and then take it from there.
  20. I'm sorry to say this but most races, even the big ones get this very very wrong. They chuck up a couple of signs, that are not the easiest to read, on street posts here and there and then perhaps the odd announcement on a radio station. With the 947 I very often chat to people that stay or work in the areas it passes through and they have no idea the race is on until on the day their streets are closed. What more can they do ? I dont actually know, maybe some more legible signage (for goodness sake people use bigger font and have less text) and more of the signage in places where people drive slower so they can take notice of it.
  21. best way I found to keep the HR low is to ride with someone less fit than you, you ride at their pace.
  22. and the view is not so shabby either
  23. hence the fixes in inverted commas, I am doubtful they will work, but I do need to give them a try
  24. Thanks, will take a look at this. Also saw some possible "fixes" on the net for the revoshift, will try them out first.
  25. works perfectly on my 2x Shimano drivetrain. I do however find that is not lubed very regularly it becomes noisy quickly.
