  1. was thinking about this this morning on my ride. Perhaps its time for some added safety to be introduced. I was thinking maybe a forward facing camera for TT bikes, so you can keep your head down but still see what infront of you ?
  2. may the fleas of a thousand camels infest his crotch. scumbag!
  3. I thought hydration packs were not cool but for the very reason displayed in the dirty water bottle pic above I think they should make a comeback
  4. they used to do this in the past
  5. whats a gram of coke going for these days 😁
  6. send me one, I'll send you the money when I get stock of Rands
  7. what a sad weekend for cycling in SA. RIP to the fallen riders.
  8. One of those days where there is nothing to give, right from the start. So I zone 1’d the ride. got a little wet, bike looked like I rode cyclocross when I got back.
  9. hahah smart ass. * lone wildebeest
  10. The dam was empty, but all other catchment areas were nice and full. Glad to hear they were cleaning up the rocks etc. in the road. Other than birds, the only other wildlife we saw was a loan wildebeest
  11. Another suggestion from someone that doesnt do much offroading but has had to make use of jeep track to take the shortest route back to the start. If a trail crosses a jeep track or shortcut back to the start, a sign there indicating which way would help
  12. agree with this ^^^^ even though one of those bakkie ads is for a product I sell.
  13. my eldest daughter is 11 turning 12, we thought about going 24" , but then got her to ride my wifes 650b 26" frame and decided 26" will probably suit her better. She never rode her 20" much, and this will go to her sister, but that does leave us a hand me down hole as her sister will more than likely need a 24" when she outgrows the 20 as she rides a heck of alot more.
  14. Just my normal loop #nofilters
  15. how does a fence above your head height stop animals ? Only thing I can think of that it would stop would be giraffes
  16. Both my daughters used this one. It will be for sale soon
  17. might be like race car drivers, you have to believe you are invincible in order to do those speeds, you see a team mate have a crash and you have to believe they are perfectly fine and will be up in no time. Also you get used to seeing people crash and get up. Much like when Senna hit the wall, I was so used to watching massive crashes happen during F1 that I laughed at "how silly a mistake he made", only after he didnt get out the car for a few minutes did the severity strike home.
  18. Apparently I was cycling in my sleep last night. My wife tells me I do that when I'm having a deep sleep, last night I slept the best I've slept in a looong time, so it must have been a lekker ride. Pity its not on Strava. So this morning I decided not to get up early and ride, just lay there enjoying the feeling of being rested.
  19. They obviously have no clue how dangerous some of the sections are for the Emperors race, as well as how much they disrupt traffic in the areas. Glad I didnt have budget to enter this race.
  20. was the route information not available at time of entry ? or did they change it ?
  21. hahaha, I've got the garage in there but no tube. Multi Tool Tyre Levers Ryder plugs and tool 2 x bombs and adapter Shrader to Presta Adapter
  22. what do you need to fit in it ? I'm loving my Scion Elan but if you want to fit a tube plus tools in you'll have to get a tubilo tube.
  23. Not a mountain but ..... Riding along this morning and 2 gents on MTB bikes come flying past. Nothing unusual. But they keep looking back. Next thing this lady on an eMTB slowly creeps past me. When I notice its an eBike I check my speed, 33km/h. Ok this explains why she is creeping past. It is a slight incline. As it flattens out I realise she is not really extending the gap so I speed up to ride next to her and start chatting. My opening remark was along the lines of "it gets hard when you hit that speed limit" Turns out her is limited to 30 something km/h and she is supposed to be riding with the 2 guys up ahead. But they are doing intervals, she can keep up on the hills but as soon as they hit the flats or descents she is working really hard. And this was evident, we were doing around 35km/h and she was working very hard to maintain that pace.
  24. I see my daughters school sent a team to compete in one of the shorter routes. Lekker. Its a pity the practice times for their team conflict with other scheduled activities as my youngest would love to join. Maybe next year.
  25. By the amount of water flowing into the road from the side of ORT where the MTB trails are I'd say you need to avoid it. What is Rietvlei Zoo looking like with all these rains ?
