  1. Thanks DD, I thought as much, looking forward to chasing the 50 jersey when I'm in my 70's
  2. After our second tour we made a goal of doing 10 tours in a row, we managed 12 before we skipped any. But back then there was no medal for doing 10, you got a yellow number and that was it.
  3. For someone that has done this "race" as many times as I have, this is a silly question, but one I do not know the answer to. Why are the milestone 10 - 21 -30 - 40 ? Why 21 and not 20 ?
  4. thats because now you're more aware of your body and how it should function
  5. No idea. @Frosty might know. im not even racing it next week, but wanted to do a long ride today so joined the guys.
  6. This doesnt make sense to me though, because I set a new Max HR of 10bpm higher than my previous Max.
  7. I suspect the mould in your bottle will get you before the plastic does.
  8. I only have a road route, and for that you wont need a gpx file as its one long road.
  9. I dont see how training for 947 differs to training for CTCT in your scenario. Also the safety aspect only comes into play outside of the event itself, i.e. to and from the parking, and despite the reports on here I've managed to not be affected by it. But it is there, this is Joburg, so you do need to know about it and be vigilant.
  10. can we keep the depressing political commentary out of this thread please
  11. Those first 2 lines of the caption read like someone needing to add words to their essay to reach the minimum word count. WTF???
  12. Yeah I don’t see it as being to good for the body
  13. thanks. So you could, if you wanted to, still do the ride at a more sedate pace. But risk dehydration and/or bonking.
  14. and in terms of training ? any restrictions ? (other than the fact that you've got depleted nutrition levels and therefore cant train 100%)
  15. excuse my ignorance on the matter, what are the restrictions on you for Ramadan ? I know of the fasting, but does it not allow exception for sport or illness ? Or is this level of sport considered more recreation and therefore no exception.
  16. Entire thread dominated by pricing and pricing comparisons. Jewbecca summarized everything at the top of the first page. But I'll add to the debate. Last year we launched our new hot hatch, close to 1bar. people had the same reactions, to expensive, I can get XYZ for cheaper wadda wadda wadda. We are still selling them, the price has creeped up to over a bar and they are still selling. And when we launch the replacement for this in a few years we'll get the same reactions. Back to 2 wheels and the recently launched version of our superbike is close to R600k, its been out a month, all 3 units that were allocated to us have been sold. The one is not even going to be assembled, the guy is just buying it as a collectors item. Brands will sell what their product at a price they have researched that their target market will buy them at. There will always be the initial shock reaction to the price, but once that desirability hits, the price is justified in their eyes and the product bought.
  17. Dont recall, I know when I tried to enter yesterday from the CTCT website it took me to the 2024 entries and it stated R750, I had to follow the link from the email to get to the 2025 entries.
  18. Me too. Only because a) I have some spare change right now and b) next year is no. 21 for me, so getting my entry in early and not having to stress about it again is a relief.
  19. So what I landed up doing. Headed back to V&A where we parked, removed timing board and front facing number, than headed up and took main road through to Camps Bay. Sat under a tree there and waited for him. From there we rode back together. He was unfit and sick leading up to the race, I think the moral support of me riding with him the last little bit really helped. Waiting for more pics to come through on action photo, but I think we got some great ones crossing the line together. oh, I skipped the second coke and got a funny look from the medal lady when I declined a second medal.
  20. with my shirt it was a bit tricky to get everything lined up the way I wanted, but that is a function of the shirt not the pins. they seemed to work well, held the number in place and has not left any permanent marks on the shirt.
  21. Can you do the 2 groups as well please
