  1. this is probably the least risky way to do things for both parties but its mini friday, our pitch forks are primed and we're itching to lynch someone, name and shame
  2. Not sure I'd binge watch it, but entertaining enough to watch is every few days.
  3. difference between a race and a tour (in my mind), for a race I dont mind loops, but if I'm doing a tour I'm expecting to be exposed to different scenery etc. along the way. But all this is irrelevant to me in this case as I dont do the Tour Durban.
  4. I've had The Courier Guy deliveries accepted for me without the pin. Just last week my Rockbros were delivered to my work whilst I was on leave, no pin was needed even thou they sent one to me via Email AND sms
  5. Started watching this recently. About 3 episodes in.
  6. This talk of helmets from different sports has me lolling at hard hats on construction sites. These things are so thin and flimsy I cant see them protecting the wearer from much, but they are mandated PPE.
  7. Off topic chit chat but it can relate to cycling. My brother in law loves his Yetti insulated mugs and when I was with him in December boating in the hot sun I was impressed with them. Fast forward to the past weekend and we were away with him on the South Coast. At one of the touristy shops I came across Lizzard flasks and mugs. Googled them and they seemed to be pretty good. What I liked about the ones I found at this store was the dimensions and capacity, a 650ml flask that will fit into most cup holders and only marginally taller than a 750ml cycling bottle. Pricing at the store was only marginally more than buying online so I picked a colour I liked, my Brother in Law then also decided to buy one. I've been impressed. Filled it up with water and some ice the morning we left the south coast. Finished the last of the water when we arrived in Harrismith 4 and half hours later, with ice still in the flask, added another 500ml of water in and it was still ice cold when we reached home 3 and half hours after that. My want for the flask was that I always have a bottle of water with me on my desk, I find that on warmer days by 10am the water is room temperature already. I wouldnt use it on the bike, but to keep a post ride drink cold in the car it will work very well. Anyone here got experience with Lizzard or other similar brands ?
  8. I find its more in the head than anything else, once you're in it and pushing hard, the internal body temp fights with the external cold, but then you finish the ride and that internal body temp keeps going while the external temp gradually heats up as you seek warmer environments. The end result is that once you're showered and changed you feel great and ready for action, where as those around you are struggling to warm up and get going.
  9. Facebook is reminding me daily of the trainer rides I was doing during lockdown around this time. Trying very hard to stretch the time. Plus being on a "dumb" trainer meant it was that much more mundane. Cycling videos etc. on youtube it how I managed to extend my time, without them I would not be last more than 30 minutes.
  10. but on a racetrack good drivers wants a certain levels of slip to enable them to get around the corners quicker and therefore they dont have ABS, think trail braking on a bike, similar concept.
  11. Just a point of contention here, ABS as a system does not enable you to stop faster. ABS is as its acronym states, Antilock Braking System, it is there to stop the wheels from locking, a locked wheel means no traction, not tractions means no control. It may even increase braking distance on certain surfaces and situations, but you will still have control of the vehicle.
  12. Got back from leave today and the glasses were waiting for me at work. First impressions, The frame at the top may be a bit low and a bit thick for road cycling, I'm thinking its going to get in my line of sight. Changed the lenses and it seems a bit fidly, but it was my first time so maybe I'll learn how it works and it will get easier. Will hopefully give the yellow lenses a test in the morning and report back here. There is a reason these are so cheap, but the lenses dont seem to distort my view and seem pretty clear, so if they do what I need them to do then I'm happy, if they dont, well then they were not that expensive and if I land up not using them I'll donate them to one of the guys at work.
  13. I've just found the one I have (D'Arc) dont go clear enough for dark morning rides. @ R300 I just ordered myself a set of Rockbros with interchangeable lenses. Thanks to the link posted earlier. I need to see better before sunrise.
  14. This is where I HAVE had a problem with CL boksburg, used the workshop a few times for odd stuff where I havent had the time or could not do it myself and have never left 100% satisfied.
  15. Exactly. They make a token effort with a Dekra report, you are basically buying the car voetstoets. And it’s not like they hide the fact.
  16. you cannot compare webuycycles to WBCars, WBCars operate on a wholesale basis moving volume rather than chasing profit. The most they do is clean the car and provide a dekra report, this is why they can pay more than trade price and still sell at a reasonable price. webuycycles seem to be throwing a net out and are obviously catching some fish along the way, it must be working for them because they are still doing it and are still in business. The result of WBCars is that they've skewed the used car market, this is one of the reasons used car prices are high, so the end user still gets the short end of the stick.
  17. had similar with gatorskins when they aged,
  18. I used to despise them, but I've found occasionally you'll get stuff cheaper there, and in conjunction with their mycyclelife vouchers I've bought things there and paid either zero or next to zero for the stuff. But you need to first check the pricing on the items you are wanting to buy because you cant cast a blanket generalization that everything is cheaper. oh and I'm talking small ticket items here, not whole bikes etc. I still dont like the monopoly they have, and when I can I'd rather support a smaller LBS.
  19. They do. And it’s not just Honda, you’ll see the same with any brand. Most of the time the people putting out these ads have no clue about CI, and unless it gets spotted by the manufacturer it carries on.
  20. let it be known that hondacentral does not equal honda SA, they look like just a dealership. And trust me, if you leave it to the sales manager / staff, this is generally the kind of quality advertising you will get.
  21. and the okes with their AMG caps walk in here at Honda and complain that Hondas cost to much.
  22. If I wanted to be an Actuary I would have studied that. My med aid. life cover, insurance needs to operate in the background, I should not need to think of it until the poop hits the fan. To ask me to pay a monthly rewards fee, and then still have to jump through ever changing hoops, the changes of which you need to hunt down from various documents and study every possible scenario to get the most bang for buck. Yes you're right, Vitality is not for me, and it looks like their health care is year by year becoming less suited to me too.
  23. Its frustrating because they make it so complicated to understand. And years ago when I was about to join discovery I was trying to get all the info I needed to make a decision, but all that info appeared to be hidden behind membership access, so you could only know what you're getting AFTER you join. IMHO Discovery are surfing their previous reputation of being great with great benefits, but they've over complicated something that should be straight forward. Maybe they're trying to keep their brokers in jobs.
