  1. I was sent the cctv video of this. it is horrendous to watch.
  2. the last 2 forecasts have been very similar, so its getting a little more consistent. But yeah, this is cape town, I'll pack my Gilet and Sleeves just incase.
  3. I use ICE ID, have both the wrist band and helmet strap tag. That reminds me, I need to update mine.
  4. And now a small chance of rain on the day
  5. yeah, no watch yet to count daily steps, but my phone does, so maybe I'll link the health app too. Thanks
  6. heading down this rabbit hole. I signed up for the 3 month trial of vitality, I want to see if its worth it. Whats best, to link my garmin edge to vitality, or to link my Strava ? At this stage its basically the same data anyway.
  7. Seeing, hearing and reading about cycling incidents often reminds me of a scene from the movie Days of Thunder where Tom Cruise would not go to the hospital of the fellow driver that was in a bad accident. We know it happens, we are aware of the dangers, but out of sight out of mind, otherwise it affects your performance. I know I'm still haunted by a few bad crashes on our club rides, to the point where I'm still rather cautious as the speeds creep up and visibility is not great. I'll be riding along in the bunch just fine, somebody will twitch and my mind plays back images of bicycles flying through the air and bodies hitting the ground.
  8. I handed in my bike on saturday to the transport company that will be taking it down to CPT. No gym membership either, fortunately I do a lot of walking at work, but will supplement with some additional home stretches and exercises this week.
  9. Gauteng has gone this way to over the last few months. I've missed so many training rides because the apps say rain, and then I see the crew rode that day with no rain. There also seems to be this strange phenomenon happening around where I stay. It will be raining around my place, but 1km down the road its dry. Last month we had a storm at work, which was 2.5km from home, called the wife at home and she says there is not even a drizzle. much confused
  10. First long term prediction is up
  11. I use Epic Ride Weather, I rely on it so much its one of the few apps that I'm not using the free version and paid for it. Its not always 100%, but like you say, weather prediction never is.
  12. never mind, got it updated. I signed up for the free Bokomo breakfast tent thing since I'm going to be staying basically at the start, and during the signup process it took me through the steps to update personal info.
  13. you've got 6 hours (or is it 7, cant remember) to complete the course, go take a chilled coffee ride around the peninsula, enjoy the gees and the closed roads.
  14. Does anyone know how to change your medical aid info in their database ? I know you can do it before you pay, but it seems that once you've paid, when you login it takes you to the last tab of the process and I cant seem to go back. I know I've done it in the past, just dont recall how. I have popped them an email, but with just over a week to go to race day I'm sure they have thousands of queries to get through amongst all the other last minute prep, so if I can sort this out on my own it would be great.
  15. a concept my teenage daughter has only recently cottoned on to, she used to get pretty sarcastic with me about it. But about a month ago she found some online fitness programme and started following it religiously, now she tells me I knew what I was talking about. lol.
  16. here's the thing though, about 2 years back I got my eldest daughter a cellphone contract, within a week of being activated she started receiving spam, both by call and sms. The number was not even given out to family yet, let alone strangers.
  17. IYKYK
  18. Thanks. Its always a challenge starting as the new guy with a product you know very little about, but the environment and people are supportive so it should'nt be long before I'm up to speed.
  19. I guess I've been entering races for so long that I've not noticed an increase in spam, or I'm just so used to getting the spam calls that a few more goes unregistered.
