  1. In certain countries, as well as with certain manufacturers, there are speed limit restrictions in place on their cars. Whilst at Volvo the uproar that we had to deal with when they restricted all their vehicle to 180 was just stupid. If I'm not mistaken India has a max speed restriction on their cars, I know some of them that we source from India are restricted to 150 even though they are capable of going faster. Restricting to the speed limit of the road you're on could be dangerous though. I actually had a bit of an argument with a shopper on our floor a few weeks back, he was complaining about the small motors in our cars and how its so unsafe because you cant overtake 2 or 3 trucks at the same time, I asked him why he was in such a hurry, he should just slow down and be a bit more patient, he did not like that at all.
  2. The problem with going vigilante on these perps is that it escalates, and before we know it they are shooting first and asking for your bike later
  3. I did enquiries via their websites, but you're probably right, the enquiry would have generated an email that went to the assigned person. you'd think I'd know this, I dont phone clients before 10am on a monday because I know what a typical monday morning would look like. Although a few of those enquiries were also made on monday mid day, I would have hoped those would be dealt with.
  4. you can have all the rules you want, but unless Johnny CheatAlot checks the e-bike box on entering, or you have expensive and slow checking of each bike at the start, policing the rules is very difficult.
  5. Not sure if its the time of year and all these guys are busy, or my very small quantity that I'm looking for, or the fact that most of these guys are based in Cape Town, but I've sent 5 requests out on Sunday, received 1 quote so far, and if it wasnt for Vye being on this forum they wouldnt have known that I made a request that got lost in the system. Yes I've left it late, so I'm also to blame, but time is running out.
  6. my research today says that whatsapp will work much like Apple and only looks for the person when someone is looking for them
  7. if he was using garmin Whatsapp is going to be the easiest.

  9. both with iphones makes it easier. i was thinking of best option to track my mate in the race, i think whatsapp location sharing might just be the easiest.
  10. Has anyone got experience with Ciovita's vinyl branding option ? Whats the longevity and quality of the branding like ?

  14. @Vye Cycle Kit I requested a quote for custom kit via your website on Sunday, please make sure it doesnt get lost in the system as I havent received any feedback yet.
  15. Thanks for the input folks, looks like my thoughts of over Kloofnek down to Camps bay is the best option. We park at the waterfront, so I'll drop my chip off at the car and then head back.
  16. Hypothetically, how would you track your wife ?
  17. I do the same, but you still get the odd a$$hat that thinks you should not be on the road and close passes you, but they are fewer than those that try and squeeze past because you are far left. Unfortunately in group rides there are always those that take it a little to far, I think for the most part you'll see the majority of the group behaving. The bigger the group, the more of them taking it to far. Its the nature of any group gathering.
  18. you just need to go and spend some time at Surfers Corner in Muizenberg on a weekday to see how cape town works. Lots of people having a surf before getting to work midmorning.
  19. this gets to me so often. The amount of exploring we did as kids, just being kids, discovering things n our own. Its all been taken away. Even in so called secured complexes and neighbourhoods, you cant really let the kids run free.
  20. they can add me to the list of people unofficially doing the entire event twice
  21. I was going to do that, then I rode with him last week and realised it wont be fun for either of us.
  22. Removing chip is not so easy with the new chips as they are cable tied on. Might have to leave some side cutters in the car, cycle back to the car, cut chip off and then be on my way.
  23. but to do that on that route is not easy
