  1. What I really like about the combo I have is a) by turning on the front light it turns on the rear at the same time. But you already have a rear so maybe not that important to you b) you can configure what the lights do when you push the button. i.e. Its got 4 modes that you can cycle through, so you could have mode 1 front light flashes and rear light flashes, then mode 2 have front light on constant on and rear light do what ever you want. The front light has 8 different modes you can set and the rear light has 5, so you can set it up with any combination of these.
  2. Just got an email, R200k prize money for both men and women. Seems like new route starting at Nasrec. https://ridejoburg.co.za/ The Route https://ridejoburg.co.za/the-route/
  3. what an idiot. he came off very lightly
  4. The bold bit is important, seen so many people with rear lights that are just about impossible to see until you are right behind them.
  5. I'm still very happy with my Lezynne Smart Drive 1000XL combo
  6. Tried to use ApplePay now, didnt work, so pulled out the card, tap to pay still didnt work. Was a problem with their machine.
  7. Thanks Just stopped by CL boksburg, picked up the Marvel universal kit, some unicorn tears and brake cleaner, then tried a R200 discount voucher that I got via mycyclelife last week and was only for the first 500 customers, it was still valid.
  8. its amazing what a difference a slight drop in fat weight makes. i only dropped a few kg on the scales but having the waist size reduced make a big improvement in look and feel.
  9. Thanks, if I cant find any I'll take you up on the offer, much prefer having my own stash of things.
  10. that is route #4 that you are describing
  11. The Ouzo

    Who remembers?

Bella Napoli and the Dome were both still going in the early 90's, you also had Ceasers Palace then too
  12. youngest is 5 and gets a little flustered (because of lack of experience) when things are not smooth. i.e. rocks or roots that need to be navigated. Although I think in a few months when she progresses to a bigger bike with bigger wheels it will make things easier, right now those tiny little wheels on her 16" bike dont roll over obstacles that easily. Like I said, she did get more confident second loop around.
  13. Its about the confidence of the child. We dont go all that often so it takes a while to build up that confidence. They were better on the second loop though.
  14. i dont think it warrants that. Its just something I wanted to get off my chest.
  15. 100%, not once at either BRB or Rietvlei has it been any of the other riders faults. Nothing to do with riding etiquette.
  16. yeah was concentrating on them, I heard you and waved but was passed you already. Brake not yet sorted, I went out to source a bleed kit earlier but no stock anywhere. I have the fittings from caliper to hose, to will measure up tonight and just put together my own bleed kit, then will just have to buy some Shimano Unicorn tears (aka Mineral Oil).
  17. My experience is limited to Rietvlei and BRB, so just keep that in mind reading the below. If you're going to have a trail that you put forward as a kiddies trail, please dont share any part of it with any of the main trails. Its now happened a few times were I've worked hard as a dad to get my youngest ones confidence up to ride certain sections of trail, only to have to get her to pull over breaking momentum to let other riders through, and then get her going again. Nothing against the other riders, and just about all of them have been super friendly and patient with us, but when you're barely trundling along at 4km/h nobody is going to be patient for very long. I just feel if you're going to have a trail like this it should not interfere with others. I get that there are often space and costs constraints, but it should'nt be to difficult to do.
  18. I wanted to go again and do a longer loop after we fed the kids, but they wanted to do acrobranch, since they could not do the same acrobranch course because of their age difference it required me to supervise one whilst the wife supervised the other. by the time they were done I was spent.
  19. No pics unfortunately. I planned to do some bug mileage this weekend, for once we were not working on any of the holidays so I had a full 4 days. But we all know what they say about the best laid plans. Thursday morning before work - My usual 27km Loop Friday morning - 40km Out and back Friday after noon - 3.5km with my daughters. A storm came out of no where at the furthest point from home, we got totally drenched. Saturday was supposed to be Big Red Barn, but both my eldest daughter and myself woke up with a stomach bug. By the afternoon I was feeling a bit better so took the youngest for a loop around the neighbourhood again. I also did some bike tinkering and landed up stuffing up my front brakes. I now need to either source a bleeding kit and mineral oil or take my bike in. Sunday morning I woke up feeling a little flat and the weather was not particularly inviting. Decided to skip the early morning ride. Kids hunted easter eggs, we had breakfast but I was feeling anxious. If I went to sit on the couch I knew that I'd stay there the entire day, I did not want that. So I did something very unlike me, I went for a late morning ride. Decided to just cruise around and explore. Did 40km of riding and felt really great after wards. Monday was Big Red Barn day. We went for the kiddies route 4, we must have missed a turn somewhere as we came out by the finish having only done 2.5km, so we went again. Second time around the kids had a blast up until my wifes seat post clamp let go in a big way. I could not do a trail side repair as it looks like the threads in the quick release stripped.
  20. also spent the day there yesterday. didnt get to ride all that much though
  21. 5000+ km update. Took the tyres off yesterday to check Enduro seal. I've been topping up every 3-6 months but this is the first time I've taken the tyres off to check. Tyres show signs of small cuts but never a puncture. At one stage last year whilst commuting in the dark I hit something with the front wheel hard enough to throw me momentarily off course. At the time there was evidence of it on the side of the tyre but it wiped away. With the tyre off yesterday I noticed a dent in the rim where I must have hit the object. An hour or 2 of getting sealant snot off the beading of the tyres, a trip to the local filling station to use the compressed air to seat the tyres and they're good to go again.
  22. Great adventure for the girls just now. Went for a ride around the hood and the heavens opened without warning. We were swimming back home. Super proud of them, as scared as they were they just kept riding.
  23. going into the business park and parking in front of the shop reminded me of the original CL when it was in Paulshof. But yes, the new shop is not nice at all. And why do I have to ask at workshop for brake pads and discs, why cant they just have them on a shelf ?
  24. Unlike a certain LBS here in boksburg that moved to a smaller cramped space and still tries to call it a mega store
  25. which kind of sucks as it mean removing your mask in the shop. I just checked now, I cant register another face as I've registered my wife's face to unlock my phone too. looks like it can only do 2 faces, the old finger print reader could do many more finger prints.
