  1. I've got a bunch of bats sitting in my garage, they are covered with a black bag, I have not opened to look inside in many moons, they may not resemble bats anymore.
  2. It also depends on what levels of components you are running and how hard you are on them. As an example, for my bike. Chain is around R500 Brake pads around R100 a side so R200 I guess you MTBikers are harder on grips because after 7000km the grip tape on my roads bike is not showing any need for being close to replacement.
  3. Some people, like Mark James above, are just not wired that way, same way some are not wired to sing or dance or other skills. Others would rather let someone else do it even if they could do it themselves.
  4. Bike shops need to stay in business, selling bikes and accessories is probably not the way, but maintenance is (or most probably a combination of all 3 is needed), so they need people like you. But people like you need good honest bike shops, so when you find the one you trust then by all means support them.
  5. You guys are spending a fair bit monthly, or maybe I'm just not maintaining my bike like I should. I also only do around 500km per month though. Twice a month its a wash and lube and check chain wear. Tyres maybe every 18months. Sealent topup every 6 months.
  6. if thats all you buy from CWC then once its shipped up here you're back at CL prices. But yes, R150 for 200ml is more acceptable (still expensive though for something I assume is just plain old mineral oil with red dye added)
  7. much nicer looking than the 2 tone ones you have been doing. But thats just my opinion
  8. it may as well be given the price
  9. I work in sales, wanting to assault a salesman because of company policy is not just a figure of speech. I had a lady swearing at me yesterday because the company no longer brings in a diesel derivative
  10. A mate of mine has rented a camper van and left yesterday morning for a tour down through the garden route onto cape town and back. Man I'm jealous
  11. Marvel generic brake bleed kit currently at cyclelab for 399, add another 200 for a small bottle of shimano unicorn tears , a few youtube videos and you are sorted.
  12. if I did speed I wouldnt need rollers

  14. I certainly hope the paintshop did not use Dot3/4 fluid. Was it a bike paintshop or a general car panel shop ?
  15. why do you want to assault the salesman for a store policy issue, he doesnt own the place he just works there ?
  16. did you not start a thread about this a few days back, in that thread you had R1000 budget.
  17. there is a vye thread somewhere. I've got the Mirage. It was very tight to begin with and took a little shifting of the chamois in the front during the first rides to ensure the junk was comfortable. But once it stretched a little it was all good. As per Footballer above, the silicon dots have come off. Although mine started coming off pretty early on (might be me washing the bibs in the shower), but the fit is tight enough (or its my quadzilla legs) that there is no need for the silicone to keep the legs in place. Its my go to bibs for ride under 2h30, I find my Ciovita Corsa bibs more comfortable for the longer rides. I've actually relegated all my cheaper bibs to absolute emergency status as I find they chafe. I never noticed how bad it was until I started using the Vye for every ride and then recently used one of the others.
  18. The line of work I'm in is not the line of work I want to be in and is not the line of work I started in 25 years ago. What do I want to do? Good question. I have embarked on soul seeking journey and will probably start a thread when the time is right. To quote from a movie
  19. damn right. I'm trying everything I can to get work down there in order to move down.
  20. Garmin says 43 hours recovery needed.
  21. I'm trying to understand how the system can be overfilled.
  22. I dont know anything about this, but from watching Mike Patey on youtube building a bush plane out of carbon fibre, he mentioned the corrosion a few times where he used Aluminium and as such he put and insulating layer between the carbon and aluminium so they are never in direct contact.
  23. if the motivation is health/fitness then work out how much a gym contract will cost you per month vs how much a bike will cost per month. I'd rather have a bike than a gym contract
  24. they still trying to find the race angle
