  1. Same WhatsApp group. My wife is On there too
  2. considering I have trouble tracking down iphones and ipads using the "findMy" app I'm skeptical to the effectiveness of this for items lost out of your immediate vicinity.
  3. I stand under correction, but as far as I know FSPs are not allowed to charge a penalty for early settlement provided the contract has run for a certain period of time (normally 6 months)
  4. my opinion, install Strava on your smart phone. Stick phone in your pocket. Ride like that for a while until you can save up and get a cycle computer.
  5. so basically the same as my road bike then. (although I suspect my gearing is more road orientated)
  6. A few comments here on gravel bike being slower on tar, serious question here as I'd like to know. Granted they wont be as quick as an aero bike or the lightest bikes, but how much slower are they really ? And what makes them slower ? Gearing ? Geometry? Tyres ? Combination of all 3 ?
  7. is the supplier the manufacturer ? if yes then they must pay up. If not, then the supplier must insist that the manufacturer pay up. Not the client or bike shops problem in this case.
  8. if its anything like the motor industry the manufacturer will dictate a nominal labour fee way below normal rates
  9. It depends on who is asking the question ? * Bike Shop ? I doubt they want what the manufacturer will pay them for labour as it will be minimal. * Customer ? Then the manufacturer must pay up. Heck if the engine in my car packs up under warranty and needs a complete rebuild or replacement I will not be happy footing the bill for labour. Like wise on a bike.
  10. I've been monitoring this as the pain starts to come back every so often (although much milder) and I think I have narrowed down the problem to my shoes. I've been keeping them with a bit of play in the front section to give my toes extra space to move. Then a week or 2 back during a longer ride when I felt the pain coming on I started concentrating on what was happening and realized I was keeping my foot very stiff in a horizontal position through the entire pedal stroke. So I made a concerted effort to flex the ankle (kind of over exaggerated flex) through the pedal stroke. This showed up more than comfortable movement of the foot inside the shoe. Thats when I came to the conclusion that I'm keeping my foot stiff horizontally in order to minimize the movement. I tightened up the velcro strap on the front portion of the shoe and after some exaggerated flexes of the ankle to loosen things up I was once again flexing the ankles slightly through the pedal stroke. Hopefully this has sorted it out. I'll continue to monitor and do the stretches.
  11. It sounds to me like an electrical engineering cycling enthusiast has a great business opportunity here servicing and repairing ebikes
  12. went outside with my normal long T under short cycling top, got the bike out the garage and then went back in to put on my cycling jacket and a buff to filter the cold air. At a few points during the ride I felt I could have put my leg warmers on, but I think that may be over kill.
  13. Windy and chilly this morning. yes that is a cyclist (commuter) on the highway below
  14. The 2021 route for anyone thats interested. https://www.strava.com/routes/2820646617903318896

  16. check your emails if youve done more than 10 I've just entered.
  17. I think its more about aerodynamics. Modern cars are much more aero and any extra stuff sticking out affects it much more.
  18. yeah those shots of the boats on the perfect water at the crack of dawn stirs things up in me, but I'll probably be like you a not be able to walk for a few days if i were to ski now. since this is a camping thread this story goes well here. Many years ago as 2 families we did the garden route with caravans. To end it off we spent the last night up in JHB camping on the grounds of the boating club we belonged to. We ski'd that night until we could not safely see anymore and then woke up the next morning and were ski'ng again before sunrise. Man how I long for those days.
  19. the plastic bits are probably the most vulnerable, but other than some fading I never saw anything to worry about
  20. on my volvo V40 it was exactly 1l/km higher.
  21. A) yes B) No I've lost a wheel chock before. I know of racks stolen off of cars. Plus the aerodynamic drag not only made more wind noise but increased fuel consumption. But, the convenience of having them on all the time is awesome.
  22. I like that its australian, at least the whiny noises in my living room sound different from time to time. The american ones irritate me. Oh, and my little one is picking up french from one of the cartoons. I think its Fancy Nancy
  23. quieten down Android boys, this thread is not for you. Last week my stopped receiving calls and SMSs. Logged a call with CellC, we tried all sorts of resets but nothing worked. Put my sim in my old phone and it worked, so put it back in the new phone and did a factory reset. Calls were working again. But then I noticed another problem had cropped up. If my phone switches between wifi and LTE or even different LTE towers data throughput stops. To get it working again I need to turn airplane mode on and off. The internet suggested a network reset which I grudgingly did (you lose all your wifi passwords). It has not helped. I suspect the culprit to all of this is the work wifi. It all started when I connected to it. Its hosted by clickspot and is one of those where you need to login via a webpage and leave that page open whilst you browse. Has anyone experienced this and found a fix ?
  24. I laughed more than I should
  25. 10/10ths refers to being at your limit, no margin for error. So whilst my 10/10ths might see you flying off into the distance ahead of me it still means I'm at the limit of my abilities. i.e. should something go wrong I have no margin to save it. But as stated, maybe this was simply just an accident and the guy was not actually going all out.
