  1. ??????????
  2. Got the email the other day. I logged in to check, turns out I grabbed an early early bird entry shortly after this years race, at last years prices, which appears to be R100 less than this year.
  3. FYI for my ride last week, shuttle back to the start (+/- 100km) was R250.
  4. this sentence right here is enough to make me question anything that you post. My experience has taught me that anyone that starts by saying this is talking utter bollocks
  5. same, we were asked to wear bokke shirts on Fridays, I'm really the only one coming in normal work wear as I dont own a single shirt in support of any team of any sport. But, i also saw Vye's top (and Ciovita released something last week too) and thought, that might actually be cool to have.
  6. The last 2-3 years has seen me at the fittest I've ever been, riding more km than I ever have and doing times in races I thought would be impossible for me. Why am I telling you this ? Well I used to ride the big gears, started riding with massive chainrings, small ring was 40 something tooth, biggest cog on the rear was 26 tooth. Because I was young and had strong legs from water skiing I was able to power up the climbs in the the cape. But currently I'm running 50-34 and 11-32 and its working great for me. Occasionally I want more topend, but it doesnt happen to often. Although lately I've been monitoring which gears I use more often and I'm starting to gravitate to the smaller cogs on the rear. My opinion is that for us normal mortals a compact 50-34 & 11-32 is perfect.
  7. I'm not here to defend anyone, I've had my fair share of encounters with CL bunches. But do want to put a real world spin on this. Last week during our 200km group ride we were instructed to be maximum 2 abreast, and when indicated, single file. Most of the group complied, but it was consistently 1 or 2 individuals that decided the entire road belongs to them. Marshals would call them out, they would move over, and then a few minutes later would be back taking over the road. As in anything in life, its normally just a small number of individuals that stuff it up for everyone.
  8. yeah works better from behind.
  9. who designed those jerseys ? Should have done the colours the opposite way around, so the brighter yellow is on the right for the cars.
  10. so i use a combination of both. depending on the length of the ride I sometime also take both with me. I find if its hot, or I've had higher excursion , then I cant eat a bar, gets stuck in my throat, thats when I use the gel. Although I found on saturdays ride where temps peaked in the 40s, sipping on a gel that been in my back pocket for 6 hours was like sipping on piping hot tea, it was not pleasent. But like others have said, try them both, in multiple different scenarios, use what works for you.
  11. with all that stripping and cleaning when do you get a chance to ride your bike
  12. Yeah slip on. Given the bikes I’d assume pretty budget. will try your trick. Not sure where id get hairspray though.
  13. so a question on these grips with the palm padding thing. Both the wife and my eldest daughter have them on their Titans. Looks like they were standard. But on both the grip twists, meaning the pad keeps twisting down, so you have to keep twisting it back. Is this just because these are budget style grips, or do even the better quality ones do this. And can you stop this from happening ?
  14. 😲
  15. woke was something that followed a nap
  16. it does not get better as they get older Very happy my TV has bluetooth, headphones FTW. But I also cant do subtitles, find I miss most of the visuals because I'm to busy reading.
  17. This is something that got to me when we were buying my eldest daughter her first helmet 10 or so years back. There was hardly any choice when looking for kids helmets, you had the cheapies that looked like they offered zero protection, but anything from a recognised manufacturer was almost impossible to find. The situation seemed to have improved a bit 5 years later when we bought my youngest her first helmet, but not by much.
  18. right, so some interesting feedback after 2 weeks of use. For the first week I ran the geyser on my normal schedule, as follows Weekdays On 04:00 - 07:30 On 16:00 - 19:00 Weekends Saturday 06:00 - 08:00 16:00 - 20:00 Sundays 06:00 - 09:00 16:00 - 19:00 The average usage per day during this period was 17.46Kw I then turned off the schedules for a week, the average usage over that week was 19.12 Kw The only thing that might have influenced the second week was Stage 6 loadshedding with long hours of no power, but looking at the graphs of what the usage did, the geyser did not turn on when the power came back, i.e. the water was warm enough that it did not need to heat up. From this morning I've tweaked the schedules slightly, I think I can save around 1.5 - 2 Kw per day. What this has left me with is a need to investigate where the rest of the 10 - 13 Kw per day is going. Next up I'm going to log the pool motor, its should be using 1Kw/h, only running for 3 hours a day. But I'd like to make sure. My Dishwasher uses 1 Kw for a cycle on Auto. The Toploader washing machine is rather efficient only using 0.35Kw per cycle. Gas oven/stove combo, but the airfryer is power hungry.
  19. if its a cadence sensor then how is it reporting wheel rotation ?
  20. are you not perhaps logging the wrong metric ?
  21. **Edit*** never mind. I'll reserve my comment
  22. if thats standard practice then so be it. I ride solo 99% of the times so this is new to me.
  23. like an insurance policy, complete waste of money until the poo hits the fan, and then you're thankfull you did not skimp on it
  24. Chris is correct (as long as the width of the bars is still correct for the new vehicle)
