Looks awesome. Keen to do it next year. I have signed up for the Sun City one.
Good luck with your race! Will be cheering you guys on from a distance.
I have a problem with my training. I am only getting my bike in a few weeks, and to get through my cycling training, I have been using the Wattbike at my gym. It's also going to be a stopgap when I can't get out on my bike during the week.
I did some reading on how to set up my bike correctly, and I am using some ok'ish cycling shorts, but I can't last longer than 30 minutes as the pain my sit bones gets way too much (I have now dubbed the Wattbike the Pain Machine).
I am not a cyclist at all, so the cycling aspect is very new to me. Anyone have any ideas / tips / experiences they can share?
What kinda tape are the ous using to tape up their necks so that the wetsuit does not chafe them?
I have been using plaster tape and its basically useless.
I used to wear a rash guard under my scuba diving wetsuit for this. Problem went away when I replaced it with a better fitting suit. Not sure how good idea this is for a long swim though. Maybe give it a try on your next open water swim?
Also, what about something like Body Glide?
2276m for me...
I remember my first Olymipic tri, last year November. The course was 1.5km and I swam 2.1km just coz I couldn't keep it straight. You should see the strava - LOL
I just nailed my bilateral swimming, and I am hoping that with my navigation training from scuba diving, I shouldn't have this issue...
You guys are awesome. Faith in humanity restored. I hope to pay it forward (under less tragic circumstances that is).
thx for this, I currently trying to get enough training time in to do Sun City in May. Did the sprint last year, need to up my game for the ultra. Currently just really concerned about the amount of hours I have to get quality training done.
I have signed up for the Sprint in May. Been training for a few weeks now, and it's slow. Meeting with a coach from MyProgram Generator today to understand the training a bit better. What are you using for your training? Any specific plan?
the reason we all swam further and longer

Unfortunately my friend Greg passed away shortly after we arrived at the hospital. My injuries I can deal with.
I am so sorry for your loss. It feels so senseless and frustrating.
I want to make a call on all cyclists who have lost a friend, had an incident or know of someone who has passed. Let’s establish 1 day a year where all cycle in unity across the country in memory of the fallen cyclists. If students and employees can disrupt traffic with marches for various causes, surely we can also cycle in UNITY to make motorists aware that we are also entitled to be on the roads.
Why wait? Durban half in June...!
Doing some smaller Olys and Sprints in between. I don't even have my bike yet... Have not been on a bike since I was a teenager. Everyone thinks I am nuts, but I am determined to do this.
Can't wait to get my bike. Planning on Cervelo S2. Not looking forward to the clipless pedals. If you see someone falling over slowly on a Cervelo, that's probably me...
Anyway pulled a 2:30 run and finished in 7:44 not great but considering I almost pulled out I am stoked that i finished.
Well done! Even though I am new to tri's, I am sure that these types of events build character. Pushing through like that is some crazy mental fortitude.
Hey there,
First post here, but this topic has struck quite a chord with me.
As much as I am all for practicing what we preach, we also need to encourage our friends and family not to drink and drive. Seen way too many drunk drivers in and around Fourways. Even at more "normal" hours. We seem to have an accepting culture when it comes to this.
Give it a TRI
