  1. Saw Boyhood last week. It was good, but not brilliant.
  2. Last week I went to my old haunts in Hermanus
  3. Oh, you are suggesting that I should stretch my concept of right and wrong:) I am a lapsed closet anarchist. I will ask my teenage neighbour what to do....
  4. I finished the first three series of Homeland yesterday, included a marathon 12 hour session last weekend. Did not get near my bike at all. Only problem now is that the fourth season is now about six or seven episodes old and how will I catch up?
  5. So it is a classic! in the same class as the Rolex Oyster, would you say? I am waiting at my inbox for your offer to purchase, Wyatt.
  6. Can anybody tell me the brand of this watch, I picked it up in our delivery vehicle. The logo on the face is 19 and then 91 inverted
  7. Blixem! What a story! Nepal is on my list, hope to go next year or 2016.
  8. I watched the pilot episode of Satisfaction last night. I enjoyed the theme so I am recording this as well.
  9. I only watch movies and sport on TV, but recently decided to do a series, ordered Homeland 1-3 (I do not quite know whether I should start watching 4 and try to figure everything out.) I also watched the first episode of Orange is the New Black. It was OK, I hope the plot gets more complicated and challenging, otherwise it will only be (VERY) soft porn. The last full series I watched was the first series of Dallas in the 1970's or it might have been Agter elke man. The one where old Steve strutted around as Bruce Beyers.
  10. We did a Vissershok, Malanshoogte, Occultdale, Durbanville trip last night and ended up here for a few doppe:
  11. Occultdale (again)
  12. Occultdale this morning and yes it is Table Mountain just to the right of centre.
  13. Jeez G, 04:47 AM ! Having trouble sleeping? I went for a Robinson Rd Spes Bona quicky this morning, but the alarm was set for (a late) 05:45.
  14. I did the Eensaamheid loop with a bit of extra farm roads: Here is a piccie of a stretch of road on the farm Otterkuil, I had some bovine fans behind the fence but they were a bit uncommunitative
  15. I did this race as preparation for the K2C. The stretch gravel outside Citrusdal was a bit boring. I did not like the sandy patch at the end either, took a little tumble there and fell in a patch of last season's duwweltjies, when I remounted I found some stuck to me and were trapped between my bum and the saddle. Made me forget the tired legs, though. I enjoyed the rest of the route, up the pass and down to Algeria, the roller coaster hills going past Jamaka and the ride next to the dam and the river. The weather played along too, fairly cool, the route will be much tougher when the temperature goes into the 30's as regularly happens in the Cederberg in spring.
  16. I went out yesterday afternoon and came to the drif where the mighty Mosselbank River burst its banks, opposite Mellish station. I was on my 26 er and had to turn back. However if I was on the 29 er I could have pedaled through without getting my feet wet
  17. I did a Durbanville - Philadelphia - Kalbaskraal loop
  18. Saw a chap soling on a tandem near our factory. Was suspicious, but my doubts disappeared when he got to the traffic light and did a 30 second plus track stand, waiting for the light to change.
  19. I was on my way back from the Richtersveld via Loeriesfontein and we did a big loop through the veld, saw a lot of sheep and met a few farmers.

    Cricket......

I haven't checked, but it must be my man Biff Smiff. Best ever.
  21. I also brew my own stuff. After the first batch of 13 x 300 ml bottles the cost was about R 500.00 per litre. This included the money spend on equipment. Now after a year I am down to about R 30.00 / litre. More expensive perhaps than commercial beers but much more fun. I've only had one batch that I could not drink (it exploded !), the rest was from OK to very good.
  22. There is a lot of rubbish craft beer around, I have tasted every single one that I could lay my hands on, the nice ones are great, much better than the commercial beers, but the majority are too hopsy.

    Who remembers?

I was a year or two older and remember listening with my old man to Voice of America on the short wave radio, with the sound coming and going and lots of hissing. The National Geographic issue on the moon landing was a favourite. Fast forward 33 years and my dad and two years ago my dad and I watched Felix Baumgartner parachute from space in live full colour television.
  24. I did not read the entire thread, so do not know if this product was discussed. but: We recently bought a Russel Hobbs Cafe Barista. Entry level, but an improvement on our previous regime. I like the fact that it produces very hot coffee. It makes Latte, espresso and cappucino. I had a R 1300,00 Makro voucher so ended up paying just less than R 700.00. Still have to use the grinder, though.
  25. Ja Oak Valley is seker die veiligste roete wat misdaad betref wat ek nog gery het.
