    cycling sa

I get the feeling some popcorn is needed by begining of next week for this topic.......
  3. Awesome picks guys..... some very cool bikes. especially that felt and ktm!!
  4. Uhm...ok. I stick to the other model. She is much hotter.
  5. Making doping legal will make it safer......that sounds nonsens to me!!! Only ways to make a substance safer is by reducing the concentrations in the product. That would cause the effects of the drug to be less......will a doper want less of a substance to decrease his performance....no way at all. They will use more of the product to get same effect. The other way is changing the molecule, this would mean the molecule will not have such a big effect on performance or metabolic pathway.....meaning the doper will take more of the product as well.
  6. Ditto....just too think kids that dream to go big one day.....Just to realise their "hero" is a doper that cheat to get where he is!
  7. Jenna Lee Think if you do an article on this thread will be more interesting then your topic you have...... Any case. Making doping legal will only send the problem in a new direction for the competitors to increase some kind of advantage over the other........that can only be by doping more and "kill" the cyclist with the doctors and managerts sitting next to the road with big smiles on there faces to get the win. Organisations like WADA will always one step behind. But they must be there to try and make it clean and fair. But winning a grand tour and years later its proven your a doper.....what pride you have in that............NON. Now i'm off to go study a bit!
  8. There is not such a thing as safe drugs....its only marketing!
  9. And I laugh at people like you who spend all day on their bikes and never achieve anything. Whats the point ???? Whats the point. To enjoy riding a bicycle. Nothing as good as having a great base in Desember....and i don't even do races. I sometimes wonder...... do people still really enjoy just riding a bike like it should be when they take substances. Do they still understand this type of pleasure....or is winning the only pleasure......
  10. Jenna Lee. My comment on this. First of all, when is a substance a drug. Like some asked why is gels, bars, etc not performance inhancing.... Ok. Your body needs certain nutrients on a regular basis to function. If you take in substances like carbs, meat, etc. Then your body absorbs these nutrients, what then happen is your body is not in homeostasis equilibrium anymore. Your body can can react and utilise these substances and get it back to equilibrium over period of time. This would be the same for using gels, bars as they are mainly composed off basic nutrients utilised by the body. If your not an athlete and eat loads of carbs you get fat, now that is a shift in homeostatic equilibrium, but in a natural way as this is how our bodies evolved over evolution, same with all other living species. Allthough many people don't do excerise and eat all junk and what more, they caused a equilibrium shift that cannot be returned, but they never got a benefit from it over a short time like drugs. Now, by using performance inhancing products. Your body is force to shift equilibrium as well, to give you an extra boost to compete for an extended period. But in this case it cannot return in its normal state over long term period. It also change certain metabolic pathways and inhibit certain metabolic pathways to do something the body is not equipt for naturally. Duo to this your body cannot return to its normal state. That is why all performance enhancing drugs is not good for you. Then, what about creatine and protein intake for body building as it is part of your normal bodies metabolism. By taking in levels your body needs is normal, but in excess. Well for these substances, they are secreted in large taken in quantities and actually do damage your body trying to get back to equilibrium, but then we go and train to increase muscle mass which push our bodies again to a new equilibrium. After long term, the protein can be broken down and excreted without major damage, depending on your diet of course, things like creatine can cause harm as it intergrates metabolic pathways in places it cause other reactions to be halted and cause problems. But here it gets a bit close to what is performance inhancing and what not... So, i stick to what is said to be drugs as drugs. To put it simple. A substance you use, is it part of normal metabolic function that came thru evolution and to use the substances in correct quantities of course.
  11. Cool...then its for free for me.... Do you get in different colour schemes, i would prefer blond!!!
  12. Whats the price for this one??????????
  13. We had once a good debate in a genetic class with some people working in the field from USA and Europe. Chemo did have big arguments bout it, but it was a bit different. The thing with genetics is this. There is labs continously trying to incoperate genes in every way possible into ones genepool. Now, with more genes or gene function being figured out each day. Where is this going to end. Some of the labs allready is going where that they want people to "order" there child with a number of set genes. By this you will be able to get super humans if you can call it that with either very high sport ability/endurance or whatever they want the kids to be. They still trying to determine the negative effects and how to minimize them as much as possible. Is this really ethical and where will be the limits put?
  14. Welcome by the way and ask if help is needed.
  15. Oh....by banning. Yes there is a reason. What extend this will be used by people and ethics!
  16. Not with this name, but there is many big research labs all over the world just doing these types of things and keep it secret duo to peoples reaction to what the research can have and to the unknowing and uncontrollable effects they get. We will be shock to see what they actually allready discovered and that have never been published. So no, specific GL-Gm haven't been done on cows, but a exact similiar one has been done. They did it, then used origenal parent info to trace it back and see whats the difference.Witrot2008-03-11 13:31:45
  17. Boeing, it can be done. Allready been done in cows. But to do it is not cost effective at all!!
  18. Agree totally. thats the sad part for sport for the future
  19. What saddens me is this. ladies get there own start group, but then 2 or more teams organise to go with the mens bunch if they come past!!!! So, what happened to ladies not sitting on mens wheels.......thats pathetic from those teams!!!!!!! They are strong enough to race there own race and win it! Go and do it then in style!! Under the circumstances, well done taylor chick for taking the win!
  20. The logic is missing....
