  1. Like the way they matched the chick to the bike
  2. Legend - and I thought I was the only one in SA still riding an 8 speed Dura ace groupset (12-21). Gees, those things are indestructable... thought I'd ride it till it broke but it aint done yet, not by a long shot . Upgraded to 10speed Chorus just to save the knees on the climbs.
  3. If I leave it as is, the crank is 2.5mm longer at the bottom of the stroke but 2.5mm shorter (closer to my bum) at top of the stroke. Therefore, if I lower the saddle 2.5mm, the bottom of the stroke is sorted but the top of the stroke is 5mm closer to my ass... which is actually not a problem as you always set your saddle height according to inseam measurement i.e. you shouldn't have a straight or excessively bent knee at bottom.
  4. My LBS recons I'll get around 8000 kays on the new chorus chain, so it sounds about right if you've looked after it well.
  5. 2.5mm makes a difference when you're been sitting in that position for 7yrs Maybe I'll just change it a mill at a time and see how it goes.
  6. Okay, so I've upgraded to Campy... finally... but now I'm riding 175 cranks as apposed to 172.5's. Here's the question: Do I drop my saddle by exactly 2.5mm? Ta
  7. Good luck finding that BB. My old Bianchi uses one as well and they're as scares as hens teeth.
  8. I ride the BBB carbon risers as well and haven't had a problem yet... but like all things carbon, replace them if they take a serious knock. The sound of snapping carbon will be the last thing you'll hear !!!!
  9. Come ride Jonkers on Sunday and you might re-think that quote when you're trying to bunny-hop a fallen tree at 40km/h
  10. There's nothing wrong with lean muscle unless you're intending on becoming a pro rider. Majority us us are fun/league riders and a little lean muscle helps you man-handle that bike up the climbs, especially if you're into mtbing.
  11. See if you can get your hands on Mark Pilgrims book or CD that's being endorsed by USN products. I have a mate that went onto that program for 12weeks, minus all the suppliments (coz that's marketing hype) except protein shakes & phedra-cuts. He trained 6 days a week (3 days gym - only for 50min and 3 days cardio - run/bike) and the results he achieved were honestly mindblowing. He went from 97kilos to 83kilos and gained a sh*tload of lean muscle. I'd post pics but then he'd kill me!!!! And no, I don't work for USN, but if you can go hardcore for 12 weeks, then this will work. I'm starting my schedule on the 2nd Jan... will keep you informed on how it goes. Biggest downside is NO ALCOHOL... not even one little beer
  12. Stunning... that's how a weekend away should be enjoyed!!!
  13. I think anything will work at this stage.... and on that point, how difficult can it be for PPA to negotiate "Beware cyclists training" boards on all the major training rides around the Cape???
  14. Stay home, go huge, drink, fall down, drink while lying down, stand up and promise never to do it again... again!!!!

Just make sure the alignment on your cleats are correct as well... and that you have the same colour cleats (float).

Yea, that's why he wasn't there on Sun. He woke up to find his front tire flat. I personally think it's because of the gatorskin that it's leaking. It's probably working it's way through the fibres. You actually need to try it on a normal Speedking. I'll try it when I get my new tubeless rims and let you know if it works any better.

In Willies defence, the gatorskins are more expensive (almost double). Why buy gatorskins though, it's a marketing hype. Same thread, pretty sidewall? You're running slime/sludge anyway for puncture protection. I think I paid R160 for normal Speedkings (and I never punctured on Sunday).

Pops, talk to me first before doing that again, we'll make a plan.

It's on ebay, so you bid on the tires therefore no fix price unless you buy from an ebay advertised shop. If you're patient you sometimes get them at a bargain. Whoever wants, PM and I'll see what I can do. I'll only get normal foldups or UST's in 2.25 width (to keep it simple).

    1. Pops, you paid how much for Speedkings??? Is jy jags bru!!!! M.B.W. retails them at R185... plus he normally gives discount. Daai ander twee bliksems is Conti twister fans. 2. Stadig manne, moenie die hol uit die hoender ruk nie. I don't want to hire a boeing to bring tires from Germany. 6 to 10 sets is plenty, remember I've got someone doing me a favour. TitusTi takes 29inch wheels... not sure how easy they are to source? Mind you, he only needs 1 after Sun

Marius... I have a mate who lives in Munich that purchases via www.ebay.de on my behalf. Yep, I'm sure we could make a plan. We could get a couple of orders together and save ourselves on shipping charges. Currently 2xRR = 39euros. Compare that to R450 per tire locally

I raced a set of Schwalbe Racing Ralphs during the Transalps and to date they are the best tires I have ever used.... pity about the price though. Currently trying the Conti Speedkings as well but they also tend to drift badly on the dry stuff, just like the Explorers.... had some hair-raising moments on Sunday but managed to stay upright. Back to Schwalbes... I ordered my last set off Germany's ebay site. The prices were way better than local.
  24. and that's Muizenberg in the distance...
  25. Ahhhh... the Mountain !!!
