  1. Get a room!!! Your place or hers?
  2. Stupid question but what stops it from rotating inside the steerer tube? Turn left, go straight
  3. Hey, that could work. See it has a binder bolt on it so you tighten it up like crazy (like the old stems).
  4. Afraid you aint gonna get it. 1cm is just too short, you're gonna fall yourself into a new bloodgroup if you ride like that.
  5. Far as I know, you're stuffed. Don't think there is a way of safely extending a steerer tube . Maybe you can swop it out with someone?
  6. Ouch, this is pretty ruthless. I'd hate to have been on the receiving end of that. Hope they all make a speedy recovery.
  7. "I wonder if you can smoke this sh*t" or "Now, did that route marker say high drop-off or deep long-drop?"
  8. Oh wait, that's right, Marius you have it spot on... silly us, how could we be so short sighted
  9. Common guys, get real. This has been happening in the Giro tri-nations for years now. Myself & a mate of mine sat trackside and scripted the whole evening before the racing even started, right down to the headlines Chris senoir would have in the paper the next day . Neither of us predicted the fall though, I don't think that was part of the script, but it worked in their favour anyway. Live with it, it aint gonna go away, once you know it's happening it's part of the entertainment
  10. Use Tufo. Buy one bottle, unscrew your valve, let air out, cut a small section off the top of the bottle, screw it over the valve, move valve to 3oclock position, squeeze out half the bottle, remove and grease the valve, pump, close valve. Repeat. Tufo is yellow.

Talk to Mark on 021 949 5219. He stocks Bell. Gotta agree with Ti, I prefer the Sweep.
  12. Very very nice bike. My money's on you for Saturday A new bike just seems to take you up a level and seeing Marius is on an old Santa.... well, let's just leave it at that
  13. Same crap year after year with the Giro. With Latrinus being a web techie I was hoping it would be different this year, but he's clearly got bigger fish to fry this week.
  14. Hey, that looks so sweet. At a glance it looks like a speedway bike with the motor removed

Runners high se voet, I just k@k off all the time when I run... pain glorious pain... my knee's still sore from last nights 10kay
  17. Malanshoogte and V Hok are molehills for these guys. A few years ago during the Giro, Willie Engelbrecht went up Vissershok in his big ring. They treat that thing like a powerclimb The thing that's gonna get them is the wind and heat in the badlands.
  18. I see Motorex has replaced Squirt as the official lubricant sponsor for the Epic this year. It'll be interesting to get riders feedback after the event as I know Motorex has been producing motorbike lubes (amongst many other) for years. "Motorex ? Official Lubrication For over 88 years Motorex, the largest independent crude oil refinery in Switzerland with its headquarters in Langenthal, in the heart of Switzerland, has been active in research, development and production of innovative lubricants and chemicals, which are established on the world market. Motorex produces a large range of bicycle care products (Bike Line) from chain lube to bike cleaners/polishers and helmet care. Motorex is biodegradable and will leave the environment, through which the race will take riders, untouched and unspoilt! As the official lubricant of the Absa Cape Cape, Motorex will keep your cranks turning and your bike running smoothly!"

    Congrats Sara

Don't you guys read the race reports?
  20. Agreed niterider, in a ride like yesterdays you have to relube. There's not a single lube that will handle 3 hrs of abuse in muddy conditions. I used WL Epic yesterday, relubed when we got of at the calvert crossing and my drivetrain worked perfectly the whole event. I've tried Castrol as well but was less than impressed with the results.
  21. I had the same problem on my XT just before the Alps. Replaced new chain and cluster and it was slipping... replaced middle chainblade... problem solved. XT middle blade only lasted 8months but the big & small blades are still going... gees, hope we don't get mud this weekend coz then I'm gonna eat these words (chainsuck)!
  22. You need a fast rolling tire for the epic as there is plenty of gravel & tar road. Did my first one on Specialized Rocksters (but they've been replaced/upgraded). A few guys did the Karoo to Coast on Intense System 3's and they raved about them (which is the Epics 1st or 2nd stage in reverse). The downside will come if you hit rain. Personally, I'd take a set of fast rollers and a set of mud tires and keep track of the weather forcast. Buff2007-02-28 02:56:04
