  1. Oh man. I still have mine that was cut from a Soetdoring thorn tree in the Swartberg Pass nearly 50 years ago!!!
  2. Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was already thinking abt the painful elevated pricing!!! BTW all bikes comes with a pain job - if not, your not pedaling hard enough.
  3. The monitoring of shopper behaviour is huge. Companies know exactly how long a shopper spends at the shelf to make the purchase decision. This drives changes in product placement, packaging design etc. etc. There is good reason for the use of gondola ends. Clicks, WW, PnP etc etc know exactly what profile shopper buy what and when through their Loyalty Card system. And the can shift product around during the day to influence shopper behaviour. Fascinating stuff The same for us cyclists Look at the marketing to drive shopper behaviour. 10% stiffer....10% more aero....10% lighter...Better handling....Less fatique. saving 10 watts...2x6, then 2x8, then 3x9, now 1x13, gravel bikes,,,,,Sagan rides one.....Pretty paint jobs....exclusivity through outrageous pricing... they know what you want!!!!!
  4. I had my 1st fist fight then - Coke vs Fanta Yo-yo. Fanta won with a deadly hook...
  5. The power of marketing. They call it Pester Power. Kids pestering the parents to buy something silly they don't need
  6. Can MvdP pretty please have this one?????
  7. Looking at the instantaneous numbers, as well as the size if the wave, every country in Western Europe and the UK is experiencing a 2nd wave much larger than the 1st. I'm talking infections. Italy is the latest to be peaking to a large 2nd one. It will be a miracle if the Giro survives another week. Deaths seems to be much more under control.
  8. You have to force the drinking bit sometimes. Especially in cooler weather, expecially in a race. I went of for a 90min ride last night - hardish tempo ride and I had a sip once. Temp abt 21 deg C On the other extreme - I rode from Koffiefontein to Vanderkloof in Dec '18. Midday ride = 48 deg C on my Polar. I ran on 1000ml per 20-30min (it was frozen at the start) and after 90m I had to call my wife to bring me more. I was a wreck!!
  9. Yebo Spanish Portuguese French Italian Beer in Russian is called vodka.
  10. There's one golf word that is the same in Eng and Afr Normally uttered when you hit the ball in the water or especially after a 3-put. F@@@@@k!!!!
  11. Easy start with the 3 and 4 letter words and work you way up.
  12. Any update if the race is still on?
  13. Wet spot stuff!!!
  14. I was thinking R15k for Frame, R13k for 2x11 XT, R12k for SID = R40k (R35k for a Reba) Cockpit & seatpost from Rapide = R3k, Gobi Saddle = total R5k Subtotal = R45k Wheels are the problem to get to abt 10kg Your thoughts for R35k?
  15. XT groupset, SID/Reba fork.... One can build a a real looker for around R60k
  16. Am I seeing a possible custom build coming up? Hope the frame will be sold as an separate item.
  17. Matt, Campag road gruppo's are solid, well proven. I have 2x11 on both my road bikes I have a 2x11 Shimano on my gravel bike - works perfectly!! Now a 1x13 for gravel - at that price point!! just seems too much of an experiment. As someone said - let's wait for version 5.0 I would have launched a gravel "Centaur" 1 x 11 or 2 x 11 to directly compete with 105 or GRX
  18. As much as I love Campag, this is way off the mark - for me anyway. Kind of on par with Chorus - seriously???
  19. I have the endurance...after a good winter Now need to drop 3kg and start with the intervals if the event goes ahead... They need to make the call soon!!! In the mean time I'll have another cookie...
  20. Been looking at the 7 as I was waiting for the launch of the 9. The 7 will now be really good value for money!!!
  21. Any news on this event, now that 947 has pulled the plug for 2020?
  22. I need to remember this one!! Normally you only get a Zinfandel in the US...
  23. Same rubbish Gen. Both lame scripts, but family friendly. In the 1st series, the girls could drool over Magnum, and now Higgins is the looker (kind of). More drool worthy cars in this series.
