  1. Yip the road is a scary place. People have no consideration for their own lives or the lives of others. Bottom of their list -> Cyclists.
  2. I was just starting to consider buying another road bike and doing more road again. Thanks for saving me alot of money. I think I will stick to my MTB.

Yes, use fittrack. Their programs are pretty good and the 94.7 programs are free.
  4. How many bike mounts does it come with? Only 1?
  5. Not always a good idea to only train on water. Your body needs to learn how to use the supplements/energy drinks you give it. I normally train mainly on water but will ride with 32GI once a week (normally longer rides) just to make sure my body knows how to use/handle the stuff.
  6. Did you see that the deal is on again until tomorrow.
  7. Awesome. Ordered mine this morning.
  8. I have the same problem.

Not much more than concrete to see in JHB. Don't worry too much about the pollution, you might be sick for a couple of days after the race due to it but don't worry it will wear off. Biggest problem is the wild animals, this is Africa after all.
  10. Dangle, Don't hear what I am not saying! I really like Froome. He is an AWESOME bike rider. I reaIly hope is 100% clean. But thats the difference, we hope, we dont know. Just used him as an example. I was just agreeing with what Iron was saying. Fact is that Lance also trained harder than anyone else but here we are taking about him doping. Anyone of them can be doping right now. Some of us (Like me) would prefer to not admit that it could be the case but one never knows. One ends up wondering about every good performance. Just like the comment made earlier about the performance of the SKY train. Its cr@p, but hey thats how cycling has become.
  11. I agree 100%. I look at someone like Froome and love what he has brought to cycling the past year, but you have to wonder where has his dominance in the mountain stages come from all of a sudden. Can't help but wonder, is he really that good or does he have a really good chemist.
  12. I recon they all doped. Lance was and is a superior athlete to someone like Ulrich. So basically it was a level playing field. Lance was just the best!
  13. Don't Know. I would think that he will be stripped from everything. Can you imagine the logistical nightmare for all those race organisers if it is the case?
  14. Just remember Lance did win some MTB races.
  15. ESPN reported that he has been stripped. Anyway, it will be a very sad day for cycling if they strip him from his titles.

I didn't stop completely, but went from minimum 6-8 hours a week to about 2-3 hours a week this last month. Amazing how quickly the body forgets to go at a hard pace for 2-3 hours in one go. Went for a 4 hour ride with some guys this past weekend. First hour was fine. The pace seemed a little high but nothing serious. Then all of a sudden the mind was willing, but the body wasn't able. Had some serious hurt put into me for the rest of the ride!

This winter has been too long! Started training properly again last week. I am suffering so badly on the bike trying to get the fitness going again and loosing the 3kg I picked up during winter
  18. Yes shifters makes a huge difference, but as some of the guys have already said, why use shifters if you can ride SS?
  19. Yes I wonder. He must an expensive resource after his performance in the Tour.
  20. He is such an awesome rider. Didn't think they would be signing anyone at this stage with all the issues around unpaid salaries. Wonder if Andy will stick with them for another season.
  21. Would be interesting to see what happens with Andy if RSN folds. Can't see there really being space at Astana for another GC contender.
  22. So I was checking out the rider transfers and the following really stood out. 1. Nibali and Fuglsang going to Astana. One would think that Nibali would go as team leader, but I have seen reports that recon Fuglsang could be the leader at the TDF next year. Either way they could be a pretty strong team. 2. Nicholas Roche going to Saxo Bank. He proved that he can ride a bike pretty well in the tour this year. He will probably be a great asset for AC in the tour next year. 3. Leaky gas is facing a mass exodus Wonder if they will manage to stage on the scene. Not looking good for them at the moment. Some of the Transfers can be found here: http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/534225/cycling-weekly-s-2012-2013-transfer-index.html What are some of the significant moves you guys see?
  23. The event was very similar to last years. No real improvement. Yes its an old event that was revived. Last year they only had a 30 km MTB and a 38 km Road race. This year they added the longer distances to obviously try and attrack more people. Idea was good but the execution wasnt great. The short routes were fine as it was basically straight from Krugersdorp to Magalies, not much room for going the wrong way there, but the longer route on MTB at least had issues at some spots. I will probably be back next year, but if they dont fix the issues this event will just die a slow and painful death.
  24. Oh yes, the train arrived at about 11:30. I only know this because I saw it come in while I was watching my kids play on the swings. They should probably change the name of the race because the train really doesnt feature in the whole event.
  25. Race Distance was said to be 52km. I ended up doing 49.5 as did most people doing the 60km MTB. The last turn was so badly marked that just about everyone missed it. I spoke to one of the guys afterwards that was involved in the marking of the route (Also a MTB'er) and he couldn't understand how there was confusion. Amazing how different you see things when knowing where you are going compaired to riding it for the first time. Anyway, he said they would definately look at it next year. As for the route, it is was ok, not amazing, but not terrible. Some good climbs and crazy downhills towards the end. I was convinced they said at the start that there are 3 water point. I didn't see one of them. Maybe they only had waterpoints for the road. I guess MTB'ers don't need water. I have to agree on the point about the marshalls. No where near enough of them on the route. The dangerous sections were marked clearly, but from a safety point of view there should have been a marshall or atleast a water point relatively close to some of the more technical sections. As for results, jcza I doubt you will see those anytime soon. They didn't put any up last year. They only really take downn the names of the winners in the various distances.
