Looks like they put all the MTBer's in E. I am aiming for about 2:50 -2:55. So I will be keen to give it a go as well.

I am looking at doing this event on SS aswell. What gear ratio would you guys recommend for this race? It doesn't seem to be a huge amount of climbing so I am worried to go with the standard 32x18. Its a 29er btw.

I mostly use 32GI for long training rides and races. I have a strange issue in that I also suffer from stomach cramps when I use the orange flavoured drink. And I have tested this multiple times. With the raspberry one I have no issues. I haven't tried the tabs yet. Maybe try a different flavour and see if you still have the issue.

This really sucks. End to the damage in pro cycling is far from over.

The Momsen is an awesome bike! I can't comment to much on the drive train as I bought the AL329 and converted it to a Single speed immediately. But as far as the handling goes on this bike, I prefer it to my Cannondale Flash 29'er. The Fork is relatively cheap, but performs really well. I aggree with cptmayhem, absolutely no need to change the crank. The only thing I may have changed would be the shifters. Everything else is pretty good stuff.

I had the same issue. Stick with the setup for a while. You are now just working muscles you never worked as hard as what you are doing now. If it doesnt improve take it back to the guys that did the setup for you.

Check your wheels. Take them out of the frame and spin them and see if you get the vibration. I had a similar issue on a bike after I had to use a bomb to seat a new tyre. The C02 caused the sludge to congeal. The lump of sludge made the wheel so unbalanced that I also had a serious vibration at certain speeds.

What a great event. Only problem, what the hell are we going to look forward to now? We need an event like this EVERY year!! Got some new respect for Burry this weekend. Not just a great bike rider, but a really humble young man. Well done Burry!!

Has anyone bought any of these wheels. I am also keen on the 38mm clinchers, but would like to hear what people think of them. The prices seems very good.

For SS, what gear ratio should one run? On 29'er. 32 x16 or even more aggresive?

Doing my first one this year. Came down with flu 3 days before the event last year. Hope everything works out this year.

I am also 1.74 and recon that the size of 29er is already border line, especially on technical climbs. I would also recommend looking at 27.5.

Saw one of those a while ago. Very nice, just pricey for a kids bike. Having said that, when my boy is big enough for one I will probably do the same thing and rather pay more for a slightly lighter bike. Hope he has many happy miles on it!

Answer to both the questions are probaly no, but if you start a I hate JB or CWC topic (Or anything close that) you get flamed on the hub. Why? because many guys have had alot of good dealings with them and they have proven track records. The bad experiences are minimal. So if you are looking for a platform to complain about them the Hub is not the place. Thats all I am saying.

Lapa, I am sure you are frustrated by this but I am sure Johan is as frustrated with you changing your mind so many times. Wrt him getting sick, thats just how it goes. If he ran the course while he was sick someone probably would have posted: "Beware Johan Bornman made me sick". In my opinion, if one pays a deposit and then cancels you are lucky to get it back. Actually very lucky. My advice would be to not book for something and pay a deposit if you are not sure you are going to make it. I know one can't plan for everything (Like getting sick) but if you choose to pay a deposit the risk becomes yours. Not the service providers. Might not be how the law etc is, but that is reality. BTW. Slamming JB or CWC is one of those unwritten laws on the Hub. Don't do it, the guys here doesn't like it.
