  1. You might still get them, obviously terrain dependant, but I can honestly say that I haven't had one in about 14 months...Benefit is also in the pressure you can run,you can generally get away with lower pressures.
  2. Agree with all of the above!!! Not sure about specific weight saving on tubeless but surely beats the heck out of fixing punctures and running through spare tubes during a race...
  3. Thats definately not the largest size to my knowledge...but sounds right for you. First 'upgrade' if you haven't done that is to go tubeless. Will probably help with the weight a bit as well. I use bar-ends, just offers a different option to put your hand on those loooong rides. Don't listen to what some might tell you, you CAN put bar-ends on riser bars
  4. Very true Eldron, have always wondered about that, some people seem to race from one section of the lot to the next...
  5. Caught the back-end of a conversation on 5FM this morning,40mil was spent on some African Youth Conference and the main issue discussed was 'imperialism', like thats whats troubling us...
  6. The way people speed in residential areas really boggles the mind. Was out running yesterday morning in my neighbourhood, and a dude in a Merc came past me doing about 120km/h. This morning, coming back from a cycle a Ford Focus ST screamed past me also going about a 100. Granted, it is early morning and all, but still...
  7. Had one when I was just getting used to cleats, lay down in front of the gate to the driveway. Mate of mine had a lie down last year on the start line at the OFM Classic. Starter was trying to get everyone going asking which rugby team they supported. He was the only chop chucking both hands in the air(was holding onto me) when shouting Eastern Province!!! Broke the tension (and his ego) for sure
  8. Thanks Marius & Eugene, that makes heaps of sense. As you said, don't wanna spend money on something I'm gonna use a couple of times a year at most.
  9. Hi guys, did you try the seatpost reversal or go for another option? Anybody else out there, any suggestions on this? Also don't have the bucks to get a TT bike and was looking to swop out my existing seatpost with a 'TT seatpost' and use that together with the TT bars. Any comments?

    Saris Bones

I've had mine for a year now and have had no problems. Have used it on 3 different cars, driven it on rough farm roads and over 1000km distances loaded with 3 bikes!!! Agree with all posts above about scratching etc. Make sure the feet is clean and you won't have any problems...haven't had any indentations.
  11. Mmmm, not that I know of, will see if I can drive past there this afternoon...
  12. Karakoram is the full name of K2, the most dangerous 8000m plus peak...What that has to do with a 29er only GT will know
  13. I've got a Saris Bones 3 which I use on my hatchback, but they can fit almost any vehicle. Excellent rack, give it a look. Bicycle Power Trading are the agents in SA.
  14. I'll also go for the 'Back, but then I'm biased, also ride a Sierra
  15. To me too technical is when I'm pushing my bike for an hour instead of riding it during a 70km for example. This is fine if its only me and I've only got myself to blame as my skills are lacking, if its the whole race I think its a bit much...I'm not into mtb to race though so I can't complain, only do races as it gives me a chance to ride where I've never been, nothing beats the feeling of being outside on your bike!!!
  16. They were all pretty shaken up, my cousin mentioned that riding the 1.5km back to where they started was pure torture...
  17. They usually train together with 'Mansgenoeg' shirts, sometimes green, sometimes brown. Other guys include Brink Eksteen, Charl van der Merwe, Henk de Jager, Ockert Fourie, Pieter Pretorius, Johan Kruger.
  18. His name is Ray, unfortunately all I know. I know all the other guys very well.Happened near Charlo Primary this morning round about 5.
  19. Had a call from my cousin in P.E. this morning, one of a group of 8 guys training for IMSA was hit by a car this morning on a training ride. Please keep him, his family and the rest of the guys in 'Mansgenoeg' in your thoughts and prayers, he is currently in hospital being operated on. Bad damage to his leg, concussed but stable. Please guys, lets be safe out there. Details not clear but it sounds like he was at fault. Tried to cross over to the other side of the road when he heard the car coming from behind, at the same instant that the car decided to pass them by going into the opposite lane...
  20. Sad news indeed. Has there been a marked increase in these incidents or are we all just more tuned to it and its getting more/quicker exposure?
  21. I was thinking the exact same thing, going to take the mtb next year and go for at least 8 hours, couple of pub stops included / visiting all the waterpoints and maybe a pre-finish meal at panarottis or something...
  22. Came in at 4.43 from ZZ, didn't train nearly enough, guess one 85km training ride and some spinning just doesn't cut it but still enjoyed myself a lot, the slow pace I was going at after Smits made the view so much better...
  23. Agree, I only saw one guy in my starting group wearing one(granted I started in ZZ)...Most of the guys on here probably finished by then...
  24. Was my 1st Argus as well, what an awesome experience!!! Most beautiful scenery one can ask for and crowd support to match. This will be penned into my calender for many years to come...
  25. Sounds like a good deal, seeing is believing though...
