Snotklap : http://www.getaway.co.za/photo/albums/getaway-gallery/august-2016/attachment/getaway-gallery-40/ http://www.getaway.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Johan-Kloppers-johanklop@mweb.co_.zaSnot-Klap.jpg.jpg "There is unfortunately no word in the English language for this title. We were sitting at the waterhole at Rooiputs in the Kgalagadi Transfronteir Park watching a pride of lions drinking. This male lion approached the lioness with some intentions, but as you can see from her reactions, she was not interested at all. He kept on at her, until all of a sudden she just got fed up, swung around and gave him a real snotklap. What makes this shot is the perfect timing – the spray flying out of the male’s nostrils and mouth and the position of the female’s paw, claws clearly showing, right in his face. – By Dr Johan Kloppers, Fish Hoek Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 500mm f/4L, ISO 1000, f/5.6, 1/2000 sec "

  5. Nice set of wheels.
  6. I have a Garmin vivoft which seems to help with getting my targets. 10 000 steps(100 points) X 7 days a week = 700 points. I hardly ever hit less than 10 000 steps a day. The vivofit records heart rate (with an ANT+ Heart rate strap) as well so you can get your heart rate related points for runs, watt bike sessions, spinning classes etc. I do have an Edge 510 which i use for my cycling. 2 workouts a week with one weekend ride and points for the steps and i could still make 1200 points a week. Whats new is that 2 hour weekend ride will now only give 600 points and not 3000. I have no problem for them moving the targets for smoothies. The poor sods that took i watches thinking that they can achieve their goals with minimal effort will now have to get off their behinds and work for their points. What also sucks, is that without some sort of "approved" heart rate monitor/device it will be very difficult to achieve points targets.
  7. The new structure is probably what it should have been in the 1st place. What sucks is if you have taken out the i watch. They have now moved the goal posts which is not fair.
  8. Also had 4 vouchers that disappeared. I wonder if the app update had anything to do with it. Will e mail discovery to find out what happened.
  9. Well done to the I Train. From a passive observer that keenly followed this thread, I commend everbody's efforts. Just a few points to pose about the challenges that made this a difficult initiative. 1. The logistics in doing this at 94.7 were the start was absolutely chaotic. There are just too many people in the morning trying to find their way to the start line. 2. The start batches are huge. Difficult to get a large bunch of riders together towards the front of the batch. May work if everybody starts at the back but that defeats the purpose of your goal of a good time. 3. The nature of the course. No real flat sections apart for the M1 drag (well that's how it felt for me anyway) to favour bunch riding. Lots of ups and downs, so that the group constantly breaks up on both the ups and downs with few flats in between to regroup. 4. In an event like this you cannot prevent others from joining your train. Makes it difficult to have a cohesive group. Anyway, despite these challenges, it was a good effort. Hoping to join a Hub "I" train in an upcoming race soon. Well done.
  10. To those of you that did not get an entry, just hang in there. I suspect that there will be many people that entered the ballot that will not ride for various. You may just get a follow up email in the weeks to come as these entries become available. There will also be many substitutions later on as well. Best of luck to everyone looking to get an entry.
  11. Got the email. Entry done. Flights booked. Hotel booked. Cant wait,

  15. Ive seen someone dodging bicycles like that in a cycle race. The guy came off his bike and needed to dodge the oncoming pelaton.
  16. They are both tossers. The guy in the front accelerated when the bugger behind tried to overtake. If it was me, I would let the bugger pass and let him go and endanger somebody else's life. Im glad he got a P@#$ K%^$ though.
  17. I have used a strap on Thule 968. It works well, but you will definitely get some scratches on your car. I eventually changed to towbar and platform rack. If you don't mind the odd scratch on you car than the strap on system will work.
  18. Form reading through the 90 odd pages, there are a few discussion points. 1. The OP bought his dream bike form his "trusted" lbs and was sold a counterfeit. 2. It seems that he was not the only one. This may be the tip of the iceberg. I look forward to watching Cart Blanch tomorrow. 3. ASG/Pinerallo have not commented on this forum (unless I missed it) as this matter has probably been taken further and we will hear about criminal/civil proceedings in the near future. 4. The Bike shop has not commented on this issue probably due to point no 3. 5. This matter needs to be investigated by the police for alleged fraud. 6. If investigations and due process finds the bike shop guilty, there is no way they should be allowed to trade again. The charges against them are just way too serious. It is equivalent to a registered jeweler selling fake diamonds or watches. They can never be trusted and don't deserve to continue doing business.

  20. I think the 1st prize is still going for a bike ride. However, I think a good spinning class will be beneficial. Just make sure that you have a decent workout by ensuring that you use enough resistance. Also, your class is highly dependent on the instructor. I find that most spinning instructors at the gyms are not cyclists and do not have a clue how to conduct a class. Some cyclists sit in on the class but do not follow the instructor but rather follow their own training programs. Also, make sure your spinning bike is set up properly. So I think, it can benefit you if done properly.
  21. I asked one of the dudes at LBS about a skills clinic. He tells me, " if you do something and end up falling, don't do it again." Seems to work for me.
  22. Just had a frame warrantee from Dragons Sports for my Giant road bike. They replaced the frame, fork and seat post as the colour scheme of these components from my frame did not match the new frame.Took 10 days in total. Glad I bought a Giant bike.
  23. Looks like you are right. I do prefer the new color scheme though. The 2012 and 2013 is the same frame with different paint jobs.
  24. Totally agree. Thumbs up to Wesdtdene Cycles.
