    Argus 2014

I see that there are a number of dissapointed people already trying to get entries from people that do not want to ride. I suppose that this is very wishful thinking as why on earth would anybody go through the effort of entering and a week later decide that they are not going to ride. To the dissapointed people not able to secure an entry and do not want to ride in a charity bond, just hang in there. There will be people backing out. Perhaps not this week but closer to the event there is a good chance you will get an entry if you keep your eyes peeled on the HUB. Two of my mates last year did not get an early entry, but booked flights and accommodation anyway. They managed to secure an entry a few days before substitutions closed.
  2. No salesmen at the intersection
  3. Hi RyanD. I have also been trying to get over the latest flu. Dont know whats going around but its one nasty bug. Have been feeling flat for 10 days now. Started off just feeling a bit flat last week, followed buy a moerse sore throat. Spent 2 days in bed last week and back at work this week , but still have no energy to gym or train. Still have a mild sore throat and can feel my sinuses blocked. I am also registered to race this weekend (Race for victory) but probably wont do the race. Just be sensible and listen to your body. Unfortunately, there are no quick fixes. Give your body the time it needs to recover and live to race another day.
  4. Thanks to this thread myself, and my mates managed to get their entries yesterday afternoon.
  5. The Giant TCR seat post is tear drop shaped. May be worthwhile to try.
  6. I suppose there are worse places to get a puncture than the safety of your own home.
  7. I am 1.73m and ride a medium MTB and 54cm (Medium) road bike. There is no way that a large bike will fit me. Don't do it.
  8. Wait for ASG Auction and get a Rudy Projedt. The ocean eyeware is ok but will only last you 1-2 years.

    bike size

Hi. Giants size 50 is a medium and you being 1.63m tall, is never going to fit you no matter what you do. I am 1.73m and ride a "50cm" Giant TCR so this size is unlikely to fit you. The top tube on the TCR "50cm" is 55.5 cm and unless you have gigantic arms, will mean you wont reach the handlebars. Probably best you get a smaller bike. Also note, that different manufacturers measure their frame sizes differently, so one manufacturers "50" may be equivalent to anothers "54cm"
  10. I see your fork and raise you a bottle.
  11. Was at the talk. If you read his book than you did not miss anything. Nothing new was discussed.
  12. Start a course of Tamiflu. Will shorten the duration and severity of flu.

  16. Hey, what sort of gearing on a road bike would the mid pack rider need for SBR. I have a compact 50/34 with a 11/25 at the back. I suspect that this should be enough. Would hate to run out of legs halfway through the loop.
  17. Builder's warehouse stocks it.
  18. Found this useful http://www.bicycling.com/training-nutrition/training-fitness/how-ride-inside-indoor-trainer-workouts-cyclists
  19. 50/34 with 11/25 at the back. Great for climbing. The only ratio missing from a std crank is the 53-11 which I cant push for any sustained period anyway. Its great during a race or training ride to overtake the "Macho Men" grinding up a hill with their std cranks.
  20. sorry, double post.
  21. I use the Philips earhook headphones. Got them at Hi Fi Corp. Cheap, decent sound and will not come out from your ear. Hell, they even worked after ending up in the washing machine. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NDQwWDUwMA==/z/ye0AAMXQDfdRwLm9/$(KGrHqRHJC!FG9ZszimiBRwLm9f3HQ~~60_1.JPG?set_id=880000500F
  22. The stationary bikes at the gym just suck. The saddle is the size of a sofa, and you pedal in almost a standing position. Just cant use it. Spinning bikes are great. Can get your position very close to your actual bike setup. I find that your own bike on an indoor trainer is even better.
