  1. The guy also seems to sell cameras. http://richardsbay.postad.co.za/brand-new-nikon-d90-digital-slr-camera-for-sale-79009 Goes by the name daniel Williams.
  2. Hey, you can get a Dogma from the same guy for R25 000. http://www.justpost.co.za/?view=showad&adid=43901&cityid=591&reported=y
  3. I have also had great service from cycle lab. I think they often get unfairly bashed on this forum. I bought an entry level mountain bike 3 years ago from them. Was a newbie to cycling ( Bike valued at only R5 500. Seemed a lot to me for a bike at the time) Their price for that bike was cheaper than anywhere else. Got a proper bike setup done at cycle lab for free. The bike also came with a full service plan. I only did a minor service and lube within the 1st year by which time the service contract had expired. I Missed the major service. Spoke to the guys at cycle lab. They extended the service plan for another year at no charge. I Managed to get a major and minor service in in the 2nd year for free. Thanks for the great service.
  4. Decided at the last minute to take part in the event. Did the 50km ride because I have not been riding much and did not want to suffer too much. Started in EM. (The last group of the day to start.) I suppose thats what you get when you enter the race the day before. Thoroughly enjoyed the shorter distance as there were enough fast guys to get a group going. Did a 1:24. The event as well organised, but I could see that the marshalls were struggling with irate, impatient motorists at some of the intersections. Few points that i would like to raise: 1. Thanks to the marshalls wo gave up their time to keep us safe. I think you did a sterling job. 2. I think its insane having the guys from VA, and VB riding on the same road as the 50km "Fun Riders". It was fun to see the groups coming past, but this is a recipe for disaster. I tried my best to stay out of your way, but there were many a weekend warrior riding in the middle of the road not aware of the train bearing down on them. Gee, the guys were aggressive (VA/VB). Dont take me wrong, its not your fault you had to share a road with the 50km guys, but perhaps the distances need to be separated for safety reasons. 3. To the guy from VB who broke away from your group (Dont have the race number) . I think its bad form that you joined in and sucked wheel in our 50km bunch. You broke away from your group, but dont come and seek refuge in ours especially if you are racing. I dont think its fair to the guys in VB that you broke away from. Overall, a pleasant experience. Will be back next year for the 97km/103km or whatever distance in between . I Will register early so that I can be seeded and dont have to start in the last group and lastly, I will train harder.
  5. So how much you selling the stuff for?
  6. My Brother in Law took his Polar directly to the Polar guys in Midrand. Was told that as he did not make an appointment with them they could not replace his battery straigt away. He had to leave the watch there and collect it a couple of days later. Epic fail in the customer service deptartment.
  7. My apologies, I did not read your post correctly. I thought you were planning to do the Road race on a MTB. I agree, maximum pressure for a MTB race will be eina. My bad.
  8. Why dont you use the the maximum pressure allowed for your particular tyre. Ie as per the info on the side wall. More pressure means lower rolling resistance.
  9. Did my first 94.7 two years ago. Max training distance I did was 75km. Managed a 4:20 on a mountain bike with slicks. The last 20km was not too bad although I had never ridden that distance. I suggest that do do not ride faster than your training speed for the first 67km and if you feel strong, nail the last 30km. The last thing you want to do is a superfast 1st 50km and have nothing in the tank for the 2nd half of the race. Also, if you are not seeded,(which I suspect may be so in your case) you will be starting with the fun riders at the back. Expect to ride the race solo as there is virtually no organisation into a group at the back end of the field. Also, dont forget to have fun and enjoy yourself.
  10. Hey, do you guys practice with the ice cream bike as well?
  11. Thanks for the awesome service. Replied to the PM Monday afternoon. Immediately got the invoice and payment details. Paid Tuesday afternoon. Received my glasses and T Shirt first thing Wed morning via courrier. Loking forward to using my new glasses.
  12. whatever you do, dont ride into the wildlife.
  13. Where exectly does the group leave from? Is it at the intersection of Swartkoppeis and Klipriver Drive? What distances do the groups ride and how many groups are there?
  14. Hi Fellow Hubbers. Where would you recommend I service my road bike in the Johannesburg area. I know that I should do it myself but I dont have the expertise yet. Thanks in advance.
  15. Human immunoglubin has been created for individuals with immune deficiencies. It replaces the immunoglobulins that are deficient in these individuals. A healthy individual already has adequate immunoglobulins, and more may not necessarily be better. The use in healty individuals has not been researched as a clinical trial of this nature would not receive ethics approval. I have attached a package insert of a similar product. Please read the warnings on page 3. Also, just because your GP gives it to you does not mean that it is OK. gamastans-d.pdf
  16. I think it is a very bad idea that you take this product. It is a human blood product which despite rigorous screening procedures still puts you at risk for HIV, Hepatitis B and C and other viruses. (The risk might be miniscule but it is still there. Also, this product has never been tested for the indication you are using it for. There is no scientific evidence that it will work for what you plan to use it for. So esentially, you want to take a human blood product for something it was not designed for, and without any scientific validation that it will do what you want it to do.
  17. As far as I know, the Polar bluetooh transmitter is not compatible with the iphones
  18. I use the first ascent jacket. Not the magneeto one but the previous design. Has served me well thus far, no complaints. However, its the only cycling jacket I have owned so that I have nothing to compare to. Bought mine at Sportsmans Warehouse for R450 2 years ago when it was maked down, presumably to make space for the new stock.
  19. 1.73 m 73kg 54cm Road 18" MTB
  20. What a load of bollocks. Antibiotics certainly do not kill off white blood cells. They also do not suppress your immune system. Its the infection that you need to worry about.
  21. Dear Dragon Sports If you are reading this, just do the right thing and do a warantee replacement. If I give you the benefit of the doubt and concede that this may be a one off blemish on a otherwise reputable brand, you do your brand no favours by showing that your after sales service sucks. It makes me think twice about buying a Giant bike. Do the right thing and replace the hubbers frame.
  22. Some Feedback. Tried knocking the spanner with a hammer. The teeth on the spanner started stripping. I must confess thought that I was using a cheap no.15 spanner that came with a all in one tool set. Went to the hardware store and bought a proper good quality no.15 spanner. The handle is about 10cm longer than the cheap spanner. Came home and managed to change both pedals in 5 mins. No need for hammering or using a pipe extension to increase leverage. Moral of the story, use a good quality tool and it will save you time, effort and agro. Thanks for the ideas.
  23. Similar experience. Lots of headaches after long rides. Stopped after changing to 32GI.
  24. Thanks, will try the suggestions.
