  1. you'd be surprised what little competition can do and believe me I aint exaclty riding at a appreciate the scenary speed either....
  2. Sorry DR I had plans to glue myself to you but lost you in the mob...
  3. Ok I know I am the moaner of all times but when I experience races like the one yesterday there is little that can make it better besides whining. So I don't really care bout the registration and what not. What I do care about is the start. So mountainbiking has grown tremendously and it seems it's considered more family friendly than rd cycling. I saw guys stay back to start with their wives/girlfriends at the Spring Classic, so it seems it's like a couples sport. We probably have discussed this before but WHY oh WHY do people that cannot ride insist on standing on the front??? Not even 2km later and you have to pass them. Can there be some sort of seeding at these races? I am trying so so hard to do well but I seem to miss the really good times as I have no clue who my competition is. You know the people that you pass but have no clue who is up front and you might not be pushing your hardest. And yes I'll probably get some smart remarks like "get to the start earlier" but like yesterday for example it was just not possible with the bloody que for some sticker that didn't even matter at the end. I must say though.....thanx to Sterling for the cool shirts (forgot to mention it on the other thread)
  4. i can....yay for me the sad part is i only remember to stretch when hot Rob asks us to after spin class....think after racing i am more conserned as to where i dropped my lungs than can i touch my toes....which i can (thought i'd mention this again )
  5. Can pizza be considered a suplement? Think it should be, then I can say yes I use......
  6. well I mailed 2 months back re: knysna mtb race......I am still a male according to their records....
  7. and you went through a steep learning curve' date=' didn't you? [/quote'] 2 BIG ones but the 1 was on a straight piece of loose sand rd that was a bit embarassing.....had like 8 guys with me and i go and crash like that......I think if nothing else I crashed with style the execution, i'm sure, was spot on. but complications arising from that leaky bladder cost you a coupla points on the style front you mixing them up dude......that was the 2nd big one and just because certain parts of my attire were wet and absorbed the dust that is very at home in Parys, didn't make my crash any less stylish the having to google and see if you have a concussion when back home was a bit on the uncomfortable side....that and the 5day constant headache i had So another advise - wear a good helmet tight around your most valuable possession and hm....mints.....really??? bored girl2007-09-07 04:41:46

  9. jeez.....are we back on this??? who actually likes scars out there???? pls can i have a list of names here as i do not believe there are such people.... yes we are... I never see people riding with knee and elbow guards, so they must like it. if you doing a downhill race....yeah maybe beginning of MTBiking is attached to falling....you cannot learn if you don't fall so i do not agree with your elbow/knee guards sorry cervelo on the other hand i do not like scars either but i have them anyway....if not pretty they at least tell people i aint a sissy...
  10. jeez.....are we back on this??? who actually likes scars out there???? pls can i have a list of names here as i do not believe there are such people....
  11. as to what to bring..... i have slime tubes on..... i carry a spare regular tube, a bomb + a pump, tyre levers on longer rides i carry my hydration pack as my bike only has one bottle cage - when i carry the hydration pack these days i only half fill it as i don't seem to drink too much and carrying all that weight is like having a chain protector on dead weight the bottle i fill with some fancy energy drink or at least i have been after i got a lecture on how only water is not enough if i carry the backpack i throw in a multitool although being a girl i have no clue what i am supposed to do with it besides maybe adjust my saddle or something gel or 2 and a FFWR bar.....
  12. and so you have cycled here before I see where can we take him boys??? I do recall a certain CT person telling me he will never ever make another comment about how JHB doesn't have hills after I took him for what I thought was a relaxed sat ride........ and i forgot to mention......we weren't around any mine dumps.....bored girl2007-09-06 10:35:49
  13. so it seems i need to train a bit harder catch up to the old men
  14. yeah it isn't the most user friendly list ever but it confirmed what i already suspected......finished 4th in the ladies
  15. shows you.....I was about 10min faster as there were fewer obstructions on the rd
  16. did you go faster or slower on your second lap?
  17. I though I was doing ok until I caught up to a Swampdog girl D@mn.... we cycled together for a while and then she decided that I had not had enough dust to eat so she served me a portion.... For a while I though you just wait I'll be back. Right...... I did see her at the parking lot later though
  18. Congrats then!
  19. Are you really? And I wasn't talking about you in this instance since I never did glance at a red specialized kit anwhere in front of me Some guy asked me if I had overtaken him. I was like well lets see....started after you and my @ss is now ahead of you....conclusions? yes i did overtake you "Oh you must be flying" he says......"Not really there's a heap of girls ahead"....."Yeah that is the worrying thing" he says.... bored girl2007-09-03 04:46:28
  20. oh and I forgot....... the medal thing......we got something at least and it wasn't a dead finish Induna for me was super disappointing as there was NOTHING at the end I would have liked a keyring even.... And this particular keyring is on my keys already....it is something that I am actually using The rest of my medals are on my shelf but I can imagine in a few years how all of them would be a dust collecting pile than rather the pride pile of the moment.... So be grateful that people acknowledged you doing and finishing a race....
  21. I am seriously thinking of getting into studying human nature If I have something to complain about from yesterday is the fact that i lacked the killer instinct and took it relatively easy We ALL knew where the race would be - so yes a boring place but we still entered so why complain We ALL paid the same fee (except if you waited til the last moment) - so you knew it is a 40km race at a boring place No one held a gun to your head when logging onto entrytime and told you you must enter so do what that head of yours tell you - if you think it's a rip off DON'T enter The start was a bit of a mess but I had time to exchange lovable comments about my bike with BB and have a chat with my mates and what not The shirts are really cool. I will not go and say the coolest one I have ever gotten but they do take second place I think lots of people were disappointed when the starts were divided as a lot of new or not so experienced riders expected to ride the race with their friend/better half/kids or whatever I cannot for the life of me understand why some people push right in front of the pack to be dropped on the hill 2km later.......Come on people you know how you do in races so why be an obstruction to someone who might get a chance to finish well??? When I started out I would stand at the back of the bunch and fight my way through as I knew I have no chance in hell in getting anywhere. Or am I the one that has a bit of a dented view on this topic? Or a guy trying to push through on a path where it is obvious that there is no where to go and yet he wants people to move aside??? And then the ultimate question from yesterday........Did you overtake me??? No grandpa I teleported myself infront of you with my magic powers........Oh now being overtaken by a girl is a real shame in some guys books it seems.......
  22. BB i don't think she is worried bout scars much
  23. she probably owns a sh!t load of stockings
  24. My Knysna race was an introduction to a whole lot of people.....the dudes that import commencal (sorry Mich don't remember their names), the guy that owns Whasp and Victor the importer of Ibis and Tomac. He was on a green one.....and well it might look better in black who knows.... If I had a choice between the 2 I'll probably go for a Tomac (saw one on the spruit the other day.....drool.....) He was telling a story.....A guy phoned him and asked for a lead time on his size bike in the most popular colour/most popular everything....It would have been something insane apparently as there were 130 or something people on the waiting list for that exact spec......
