  1. Candy, even thought Speedy was the only lady to compete in the 120km, the 75km was the official ladies distance. I personally do not think she did it for the prize money, rather for the challenge. It was really embarrassing for me when she passed me just before the 2km to go mark. But I am sure it was waaaaaaaaaay more embarrassing for Ian McLeod, who was behind her and all the guys that didn't finish. I agree with the banana story. Any fruit would have been good actually. There were selling huge bags of oranges on the side of the road for funny money. Some cut up oranges would have been nice - it's not really food, it's not really water but it kind of gives you a nice refreshment. Franco Sport that organises Babbas lodge races wins hands down in the fruit department for me (they even have strawberries at the finish table). I didn't get a medal 2 yrs back as they had finished....um yes I am slow. And that I kind of had an issue with, but if they aren't giving anyone a medal and donating the money then it's ok in my book.
  2. Is it going to be a bring and braai?
  3. The one on the right with tigh butt is Liz Hatch.? How do I know?? I'm a fan Not too flexible is she?
  4. But you were like on the front quite a bit..... I had a nice ride with the "guard" right at the back of the bunch.... ? What guard was that? I was only on the front on the roads with streetlights... (all two of them )I think that was MR. Plod, better known as Jeremy Hey I am a bit more popular than that! I also had IanJ and Sonic with me
  5. I have a pair of BG MTB shoes (cute how it matches with my hub name and all). I love them. Just incredibly comfortable. Unfortunately I coulnd't afford a road pair so went for Diadora, which are "neutral". I have been riding my road bike way more lately so using the Diadoras all the time. I recently developed an irritating pain in my foot and I suspect it had something to do with the regular use of the shoes. I had a proper set-up done by the guys at Le Peloton the other day. It was a great experience and an interesting one. It is scary to discover the things that are "wrong" with your body. For instance my knees although not abnormally skew, were going in while under stress a tad too much. A tad = touching the top tube while in a heavy gear. With using the insoles and little inserts my knees have now been "corrected". Rode my bike this morning and no pain in the foot (might have been that it was so cold that I couldn't feel my feet but I reckon it might have something to do with the new addition to my shoes). And since I now have the proper support for my arches and all......I expect to be more powerfull and beat my race times by 30min.....if not I am giving the insoles back! So yes get BG shoes, but maybe consult with the guys at Le Peloton if you'd need the inserts too. Maybe you do maybe you don't but it will be a great thing to prevent the irritating pains.
  6. But you were like on the front quite a bit..... I had a nice ride with the "guard" right at the back of the bunch....
  7. It's actually 76km or something of the sorts. You should be fine, just don't expect to win Usually it's muddy in the last 10km or so but who knows what the weather will be this year...
  8. Don't be scared.....it's a nice, fast, easy race. bored girl2009-06-09 06:43:56
  9. You are ganging up on me.... I'll see you all on the 16th!!!!!!!
  10. Maybe....who knows...but we had to plug it to stop the whole driveway from turning pink...
  11. Jules has punctures at Babbas very often.....tubeless I ride tubeless and I cannot say I am that impressed. On Sun we went for a ride round the block. When we were in the driveway Jules just touched my back tyre with his front wheel and slime exploded everywhere.....now explain wth was that from???
  12. You have love the hub..... It?s is another reminder of how different people are. Something that almost started as a joke showed some real character. But...it has only proved, once again, that the hub is a site for moaning. Yeah there's a fair amount of swapping of goods going on but take that away and what's left? I myself like a good moan from time to time as no one can make everyone happy, never ever. If it's not motorists it's littering, if not it is unacceptable pictures and topics. Well I don't care about those but then I don't have to go and make that obvious. I just don't read and don't post on what I find unimportant in my life. And lets just say there's a lot of unimportant things on the hub. But who knows maybe this topic will change how people look at the stuff they write on this site. Or even correct themselves if they spell helmet wrong again....Or they can feel as defensive as the big guy that just threw out a gel packet and is ready to moer you as you've mentioned how that is so so bad of him. So some of us will see a the joke when it's meant to be a joke (FanD that broken frame topic, JoeLow and the resprayed Raleigh and Argus entry fee....you guys crack me up), and some will not. Sad really.... Whether you take note and appreciate someone pointing out a mistake (I know I do when I make a mistake....I still can't pronounce certain words properly so I stay away from them and if I do not know what something means I am not shy to ask) or you take cheap shots at someone, you are right no one really cares. We are not in kindergarten but adults living our own lives. If you feel good about the way you spell (in this case) who am I to tell you different. We are very quick to point out if anything is missing from an advert (specs, pictures bla bla bla) but yet we are ok with bad spelling, when it comes to the thing that it's being sold. And in my eyes if I am going to be selling something to the rest of you, that makes you my client/customer......and if you can't spell something as simple as helmet, how will I know that you won't accidentally swap my account number for instance.... just a thought....
  13. We can make it a special day on the calendar.....put a little smily face round the number 8 or something.... Wonder how many of those we can collect til the end of the year....
  14. Who knew there are so many touchy people out there.... Something else just occurred to me...there's a seach box on this site. I have on numerous occasions searched for saddles on sale. Imagine I was in the market for a helmet....or a tandem....
  15. When you are trying to sell something maybe it is worth attempting to write up your advert correctly. It's almost like handing in a CV without spellchecking it...
  16. We all have problems' date=' but we don't come and cry over them online! [/quote'] Only people with no sense of humor cry...
  17. Are you cultured? Only fancy French products are.....
  18. It's Bulgarian
  19. Yeah he usually is quite funny.....those of us who know him appreciate him for just that
  20. There's a few that pop up.....couldn't think of any others at that moment....maybe HR can come to the rescue
  21. Not trying to be funny or anything.....we all have bad moments, where we slip and make a mistake..... But maybe if we point this out, there won't be mistakes on this particular word anymore.... It's HELMET not HELMUT! And because I don't speak Afrikaans I asked a while back what the Afrikaans word is, since half the time it's spelt wrong on The Hub. Apparently the mistake doesn't come from there....And yes, English isn't my 1st language either....
  22. I ride a "normal" bike I recently changed my road bike to a woman specific and quess what.....I see a difference......my new frame is shinier also I hate my saddle more than usual....
