  1. ? +1 what Scotty said. ? ? Goto sportsmans warehouse or somewhere' date=' and get the no-name brand ones for R20. Bend it. ? If that's not good enough, then look for something?with a?more suitable brand-name?like the one below: ? [/quote'] If you bend the cage the bottles won't fall out but you'd struggle to take them out and put them back in....try doing that at a bit of a speed.....
  2. If I can adopt and edit a line someone gave me a while back....go faster, then the wind will disguise the noise coming from the cages (which in itself is just weird???)
  3. They're like R700 a pop.....what kind of person spends R1500 on cages???? even with discount I think it's over the top...
  4. I got a Specialized cage on mine, with the rubber piece (I'd have 2 but then someone thinks that people riding Small frames don't get thirsty)
  5. Am I missing something? Wasn't this story on chainwheel on Mon?
  6. Lots of tall people on the hub....
  7. I so share your thoughts! Didn't feel like extending my moaning post but that's what I thought too. I didn't see any medics, forgive me if I am wrong but really didn't see any. I remember the Winter Challenge a few years back had quite a few of those. The 2nd water point came just as I was wondering how many km I'd do before I'd die of dehydration. Yes I did finish 1.5l of water up to that point. Who knew 2 bottles equivalent won't be enough for 45km.... I also don't need the goodie bag, but a marshal at the barbed wire would have been appreciated. We lost time there for lack of proper markings.... There's tough races and then there's this unpleasant event. Reading the numerous pages on this event, it seems a lot of it was 1st time entries. You hear about a tough race and you like to see how you do so you give it a bash. I would like to know how many of those 1st time entries will come back though. It's obviously an aquired taste that kind of racing it will always have repeat business but none from my side. Talking about it in the car on the way back, it seems to me that it might be better to not do many races in our fair Gauteng and rather save up to do tough but yet pleasant races...
  8. I am tempted to start topic 361 with the word "monster" in it but I'll resist. In a word for me this race was cr@p. Yes I am a softie so no need to tell me how it's for real mountainbikers. I must be a fake one, if I am not all for the hike a bike portions of this race. I think this was the first time I've actually wished for a lighter bike....just after the river crossing and that "put my bike on my back" hill. Respect to the DCM oke, he passed me and I was expecting other 75km riders to come past, but it took the next one 20 minutes. Yolande Speedy....a word WOW...6th overall!!! Impressive, flew past me just by the fence almost at the end of the race and I only hope that in 30yrs time I can ride like that! Well done to Brett, the mountain goat hubber for coming 2nd! Glad some people enjoyed it, but I for instance have put this race on the never again list.
  9. Actually I am saying that because of our morning discussion My new frame is alu, just like my old one...and believe it or not heavier than my old one. I cannot see what the advantage will be, to me, if I were to change to a carbon one..... But thinking bout your question now.....Jules' frame is over 2 years old if I rememeber correctly, and I haven't heard him complain about it. Maybe when he wakes up he'd see this topic and give you his opinion bored girl2009-05-28 01:03:04
  10. 18-24 months
  11. Be there too....entered yesterday....
  12. Great news bout your bike. I have always wondered.....what do you say to the person that has his paws on your beloved??? "Um can you please step away from my bike you *^(*%^$$ thief?"
  13. This is a bit off topic.....does anyone know how come Yolande du Toit is back in Minolta colours on and off road? She is in those team review write ups on DCM...
  14. from memory....I read it yesterday....must be someone from garmin....there was a link to their site...
  15. Looks really nice.....but how tall are you???
  16. ? Yes bored girl . ? ? ummmm ok at least I wasn't listening to my MP3 player last thurs....might have been the rain singing softly in my ear though....believe me won't do it ever at a rd race....falling on tar is eina....
  17. I think they should not allow them. When I first started riding I thought it would be a good thing to ride with music. 2 yrs later I oppose the use. There's enough idiots on the rd/trail that don't need to become deaf ones on top of it.....people should concentrate staying on the bike rather than singing along.... As to organisers not noticing someone using MP3 players.....it's such a small item it's easyli missed. But what do you say when you see people not wearing helmets and they don't get stopped from racing????
  18. It's not pleasant....I tried this morning (riding in the rain that is)bored girl2009-05-07 05:10:30
  19. It's a great new method of hydrating. You soak the pack in water' date=' then when you need a drink, you just suck on the bag. Works great and weighs less than a conventional bag with bladder, pipe and bitevalve.[/quote']
  20. So we have to have Knog lights to win Knog lights?
  21. Personal experience will make me say shimano.....I rode Time attacks for a brief time. A brief painful time of my life as they couldn't be adjusted so I kept on not being able to unclip and crash a lot. I still crash a lot but it's got nothing to do with the pedals Personal preferance....I like my pedals to have float and be quite loose. Some stronger people rather have pedals that don't unclip on every up stroke so go for somethuing like the Attacks....
  22. Can't wait to pass on that opportunity....
  23. This is something I am known to moan about on our morning rides. Even though I am sure it's nothing as bad as E2E our rides are either going much faster or I am just getting worse. I am planning to start my own morning "C" group as anything else is too fast for me... An article from Bicycling springs to mind....it was an interview with the Van der kitten chick....yes the one that we've seen gazillion pics of....if memory serves correct she said how her toughest training days are the days that she must go slow....
