  1. My first 24h and it was a fantastic experiance. All in all, top-notch from me - did not even notice the rain; just saw fun falling (and a bit of pain). Marshals were really awesome - that really stuck in my mind right through; well that and another flash or two. Would also like to compliment the team - particularly 'coz the beer did not run out (oh, or the 100plus). MC could however do a smaller event or two in prep of next year - maybe an adult event.. I aint explaining to anyone what a P..s is.... Will be back for sure. And well done to Graeme ??? Sprits were high and there to the end dispite a rather unfortunate weekend... Awesome to meet you; strongs in finding/replacing your stolen road bike in good time for your race!!!
  2. brilliant! you win - what you win?
  3. No sir! Im a snoep baas-ted! And also cannot sell it (you see "the guy" is my boss and CEO - so there will be no CLM's here) Thanks for the link - awesome.
  4. It will stand in his garage with his 12 other bikes, I am sure..... Expat - all his bikes just arrived (bought the Caad just before he got transfered without getting the opportunity to ride). Bought a Pina for the Argus - so this is just (another) dust collection machine I suppose......
  5. Caad10 Ultegra
  6. Hi all, Please advise!!! Would like views and opinions - even if you have a "what are you thinking tonsil" in your reply. I can get a really, really good deal on a pretty awesome road bike. It is a 54cm and I am 187 - so i should be on a 56/57; BUT can I make a 54 work (and how), considering it's a steal.... Or am I just being a nob and should not make the cardinal mistake of getting the wrong size - just 'coz its a really good deal? Its just that it is brand spanking and freaking awe-some and once in a life time..... Oh and I do want a road bike - im not afraid of the speed Please throw your pearls of wisdom at me. PS - Sorry; I cannot get the bike and sell it to you. The deal is, i must ride road with the seller if I take the bike off his hands.......
  7. Chances are good that 25 or more people were kindly assisted during the race - I know of several. You might need to provide some specifics in order to ID the correct persons and thank them appropriately. Names; your name; rides; gear - something?
  8. So is the question then: why would SC air it and give him the pleasure? Do not condone; but just 'coz he is a top cyclist does not mean he is perfect - many sports persona have blips on their CV's. Be sure some will be watching your behaviour on the hub sooner or later feathers will be ruffeled - once you have a couple more posts....
  9. SC recons Derek and his mates will air this story coming Sunday....? Or was I listening like a tonsil again? Could go either way; or rather two ways... One bike-jackings will decline / stop. (2) as has been discussed at lenght; a brave civil may stop and confront someone with a suspicious bike (and it may not end well).... Lets hope for One only!!! But lets face it - if "Bad Brad" (yes, sterio...) does make waves when he sees a bike he feels the ower should not have - it could end badly....
  10. Oh - that is for a bike!! Slap two wheels on there and you ready to go! Problem solved and i will never again visit this thread (but i did bump it for you - pleasure!).
  11. 1. It is a great bike and perfect for your intended use. I have one too. Good price, must say. 2. Do not rush your decision.......EDIT: I dont think i expressed this clearly enough.... DO NOT rush your decision. Take time, compare, decide. 3. Stocks are limited and the price is good 'coz everyone is getting rid of their 2011 stock (at great prices) to make space for the new stock. Hence the comp will be too. Take some more off the price in 5months. 4. Everyone, sooner or later, has an affair with a GT in the mountains! Good luck!
  12. Hey Witkop! Man that rolls off the tongue..... Bit of both Groennies; but also long rolling flat gravel roads when i visit the folks - big time in it for the fun - so 19" then!!! I dont really have the financial backing to buy 7 bikes for all occasions - so a bit of a one shoe fits all. Thanks Witkop!
  13. Thanks guys, Tankman appreciate. Road bike size (is another inbetweener) but 58cm. Ill have to resist the impulsive urge to but and go find the same bike somewhere in a store. Hope the deal is still around after the weekend... @krl747 - ride often enought to keep my weight under 80kg's!! ok ok - the last few weeks might not warrant a new bike, but we are prospective creatures and planning for the future is what we we do! So ill need a new bike to do that
  14. Keel - guy busy with some Industrial Aerobics outside - place under lockdown and give me time to peruse the hub..... Agree - it does help in the decision / make up your mind, but its not quite the same as grinding it out for hours when the 'ol rugby back lets you know its still around; knees remind you of that big-hit.... Problem is - there is no option btw the 20 and 19. The option is 19 or 19.
  15. Hi guys, gals, Please provide some practical expertise / opinions / advice. Dont need to invite or welcome some 'spice' to the debate - this is the hub. Looking at buying a new MT Bike. I am 187cm and have a 89cm inseam. Resultantly 19" or 20" are the options. I have read all the charts and tables and viable options and so forth - hoping for an "alternate" form of information. (PS - sorry will only be able to respond intermittently if you want to know my weight; shoe size; longest finger on my left hand or other measurement in order to comment. If you are a young lass between the age of 20 and 30 and would like some more info, I am available for dinner and my number is 082 8..........) Appreciate - Don't shoot......
  16. Aha - i see now! This is alot like being on the Russian Bride websaaits. Eurika! You have to like the who package, including all the extras. You must make and emotional decision in order to fall in love. And you must be sure what you are getting befor you pay the money over. After all; 'she' must be sexually appealing to you; 'she' must get the intended job done; and you are going to spend hours of joyous happy times on 'her'. And for that matter neither of the 'her's' talk back (english).... *strategig exit??* Mate, if you dont buy with your heart, you better be able to convince it that you made the right decision for the right reasons. But buy the Spez
  17. Voting at my polling station in Snor-City was literally aboout as painful as taking a sip of water. Parked, voted and exited the premises in 2mins flat... Big up to everyone who pulled it off.
  18. Swimming is a funny little gremlin. Please consider that if your statement was accurate, Ryk Neetling would not have calves..... Swimming has caused cramps in places where i did not even know i had places - i would start considering diet and other potential deficiencies......
  19. It will be some time until you realise what you have actually just done / learnt - was then pun intended? Here is a clue, try sell a bike on the hub and you will get where i am at....
  20. um, yes....
  21. Seriously, GT 1 or 2. 1 is a bit more than you were hoping for, but well worth it. The spec's on the GT1/2 is well worth the extra bucks in excess of 4300. My advice is for you to look at Silverback - bang for your buck - serious value for money and just as good as any other in the range. You are clearly not concerned with buying a Silverback for the components and building it over to a Niner.
  22. As a start: You tell us how much you are willing to spend on a bike and we will tell you how much time you are going to spend on the Hub from now on. Best is to build on your fitness and join in on the fun - not many people here who are beginners per say - there are plenty beginner fitness level group rides about, not sure of your area. Lots more info, lots more specifics...
  23. this is nothing more than confusing contradiction with conviction.... It is pure illusion and actually equates to a constructive debate in order to evolve into a more dynamic unit. An argument between two men about which is the best spanner for the job is good for male evolution. You still greet us plebs on a 26", right? PS the hammer still wins as the best tool ever. So does the 26"!
  24. Sorry, just to be clear - the embarressed face is your dissapointment in the races or the dissapointment of the girls in highschool? Only joking - we have all been there. In both positions.... 1st and 2nd...
  25. I went against my being and entered a comp at a garage one the way home one night. Pie, choc milk, rennies - yes I had a beer or two. Got called about a week later to say i won a Blackberry - it all came back to me, i laughed it off and gave them my address - received a Blackberry a week later. Call them and write until they get so peeved at you that they deliver - free has never been too expensive....
