I wont lie. It is actually a problem for me. And I don’t like contacts. If I cant work out where the bouy is, I basically follow the crowd (see in what direction the splashes are going), or take a short break and gather my bearings (thank God for buoyant wetsuits, cause its damn tiring). But I just rough it out.

Talking about glasses. I unfortunately need my glasses, for sight. Does anyone know if there is a stand or table that I can place and recollect my glasses, after the swim?

MDW Thank you so much for these postings. With all the raw veggies and fruit im eating here at work and home, I think, people are beginning to think I turned vegetarian. Reducing coffee, is my biggest challenge.
  6. For the Cape Town guys. Did you guys see this event. http://www.electricink.co.za/warmwater-weekend Looks like a great event, but im sorry, first off, its two weeks before Xterra, so the date / timing is wrong. But what I really have a problem with, is the costing / price. You add up the costs of all the events you enter, and you end up paying a small fortune.
  7. Love the new site, and fast too. Only thing I don’t like is the two black bars on each side. Seems like a waste of space. Rather make full use of the monitor / space. HTH Brent

Hiya Will you include Teas. What are your thoughts on ginger, camomile, rooiboos etc teas. Thanks for help and advice you provide. Brent
  9. So livestrong is selling 'hope' A couple years ago, my mother took early retirement, and decided she wanted to donate some of her time to the SPCA. Now my mother, has got a good level head for business, and was successful in selling her business. Long story short, she quit helping. Purely because of the theft, the miss appropriation and management of funds / donations (donations of dog food, blankets etc). Management themselves, from what I understand, were lazy, apathetic to the cause, and kinda stuck in away of not promoting / helping the cause. Its a shame too, for the real looser is the animals. My family and I don't give money to charities. Take the Nelson Mandela Fund, that too has had its fair share of controversy of funds mis management. I think, if people really knew how funds were spent by 'non profit' organisations , we would be seeing a different world.
  10. Guys I had a problem, just before Christmas, with a slight tear in my wetsuit (Orca S3). I made a posting on Thehub for advice, emailed Fluidlines (they got back to me too), but Terry of Xterra offered to collect and help out from my house. Lucky my wife, works close or is enroute for Terry. And low and behold, not only did he fix my suite, he returned it that same day. Terry, I would like to thank you and I wish to recognize the outstanding service and support you have offered. The service levels and turn around time on problem resolution absolutely and without a doubt the best I have seen in a long time. Thank you ever so much Brent

Cant agree more. Would like to "get the show on the road" One thing I'm keep my eye on, is the weather. Not that I can do anything about it, but it would be nice to have some nice weather in that region.

I think I am where I want to be too, but my nerves are getting to me.
  14. Its not the first time I've heard of problems along that stretch. Its such a shame too. I enjoy riding it. Be safe.
  15. Hiya Please excuse my ignorance. Where do you buy Soy Milk? Cant say I have ever looked for it. Thanks
  16. Hiya I was going through the new IM mag and I see there is a Speedo Rift Pro Goggles. Does anyone have any thoughts on these goggles. Or may I ask, what goggles do you wear for the swim. I currently find my current speedo goggles, fogs up (on the box said anti fog). Thanks Brent
  17. Thanks guys.
  18. Sure. The new balance club. Great bunch of people,
  19. Hiya I just found a tear in my tri wetsuit (Orca S3). Would anyone know how or where I can have it fixed? Thanks Brent
  20. Nice one. Just dont stop. It wont get easier. But you will go or be going further ... faster. If I can suggest, try and get in with a group. You will learn to cycle at a faster pace. I found that when I was cycling by my self, you get a comfort pace and dont push / challenge yourself. But other than that, well done.
  21. Im sorry for your bad luck and experience. I know how it feels about a terrible swim. Dont let it get to you, just keep working at it. If i may ask what suit did you order? I was advised to try Coral in Salt River. But then the woman I spoke to informed me that they had a manufacturing time of 7 to 11 days. I was not happy with that. Another friend, then suggested I try Fluidlines in Somerset West. With out blinking, I took time off work, and I made sure I got my suit. And I was happy too, cause the gentleman that sold me the suit was most informative and really helpful. Judging from the other thread on thehub.co.za about wetsuits, apparently we should not use it as a device or means to feel comfortable in the water. Either way I was happy with my buy and use of the suit. Will you be trying Ironman 70.3 to use your suit? (Else maybe look at Eleven for your next Tri event)

    Sickness

Hiya I second this. But sleep as well. Most crucial. And there after try and eat correctly, and look at multi vitamins (dont think the food of today is as nutritious as they once were). And then lastly recovery. HTH Brent
  23. I use this. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ Not sure if they working on the site, but I see the elevation graph has not been working for a short while. HTH
  24. Great !!!, since you agree that "it doesn’t make that much difference. Then let the people wear the wetsuit. Its not like we gonna win. I speak from experience here. I entered the BSG Brandvlie. Long story short. I got a DNS. Because I crapped myself. I don’t know what went wrong, in Virgins pool. I easily can do 2.6Ks and more. Only thing I didnt have was a westsuit. Never have I felt so angry, lost, upset and really just disappointed in my life. My wife was great. She said, do what you need to do to, sort this out and manage your fears and emotions and get back out there. Well that very week after BSG. I had a meeting with my swim coach (Swim coach for Maties and 4x Ironman Finisher), for a mental pep talk. I got my Orca wetsuit And that following weekend, I was back out, this time in the sea, and I got my brother in law to canoe behind me in Saldanha. I even made this posting for open water swimming Look, Im not here to win, I just want to finish. At WPA Open Water challenges, they state that people wearing wetsuits are not eligible for prizes. Im sure those that are 'pro wetsuit', will say the same as me, i,e 'we are fine with that'. So if you don’t mind, Id like to wear my wetsuit, and I will continue to work on my open water swimming (hopefully in time I wont need the wetsuit).
  25. Didnt like it. But i had no other choice. I just dipped my bottles in the red containers to top up. This was at the last coke / water point.
