  1. Here you go.. 2020 Paarl Cycle Tour Medium Route (1).gpx
  2. Yip, the estimated FTP will drop if you didn't put in a hard effort since then. A quick Zwift race going balls to the walls for 30mins will quickly sort that out haha! With this Tour de Zwift races going on now mine increased quite a bit..
  3. Thanks David!! That worked a charm! Max HR set to 196 now, but picked the average HR method. FTP jumped recently from 250 to 270 and then estimated again a week later at 284..will keep an eye on that and do a new FTP test sometime.
  4. Thinking of it now, they should've made a deal with Spice Route for parking space and open up an extra few hundred entries! Would definitely have benefited Spice Route..meer voete, meer bier, meer geld!
  5. I'm taking a warm up and cool down ride from home, but if I were going with a car I'd definitely consider parking next door at Spice Route to avoid the traffic in and out of Fairview. They don't have a one way loop system like Spice Route, everyone comes in and out at the same entrance gate. Plus it's a nice 1,5km warm up ride to Fairview, it's just the cool down ride back up that Spice Route hill that might not feel so nice afterwards, but the CBC beer at the top will be worth it!
  6. This must be the most popular road event I've ever witnessed in my short time here on Le Hub..
  7. Try and book an afternoon flight on Sunday if possible. You never know what could happen on route. Mechanicals and bonking can set your team back with hours. Last year we were aiming to finish before 12AM. One teammate mechanicals, other one bonking and we finished close to 4AM. Not sure how you are going to get access to the place you are staying at that time of night, we luckily had support crew that could book in the previous day. Showered and slept from 6AM to 9AM in Jbay. Picked up checkpoint crates at the mall at 10AM. Hit the road only by 11AM, tired as hell and 5 hours behind our planned schedule.
  8. Thanks! You mean a link to a Strava activity? Here is one from this morning.. https://www.strava.com/activities/3049692824 and the same one on intervals.icu.. https://intervals.icu/activities/3049692824
  9. Hi David, what changed in the last update? My fitness went from 81 to 101 overnight? Wish that was true haha!
  10. Think it changed? This is what the route looks like on the Paarl Cycle Tour website: https://www.strava.com/routes/23373307
  11. I did more or less the first half of the race route on Saturday with some of the guys from Team First Move and Team MadMacs.. Damn those guys are fit! I can't keep up and we only did like 15-16kmh average! Also, I think my 36T up front is the wrong choice, in some steep spots I couldn't even turn the pedals. In the 30km I covered with them we had two big climbs with 1200m of vert ascend, and two lekker single track descends. Was quite a wake up call that I'm not nearly fit enough yet to race on this route!!
  12. Was just about to throw is name in the hat! Since Darling TTU 24hr race didn't take place in October he must be hungry for a 24hour race by now. The last one he clocked around 340km with just under 6000m of climbing.
  13. That's Pieter du Toit.
  14. Nice!! But what will I use my Lyne Triangle Storage Box for now
  15. From their FB page: Cape Town, 19 January 2020 Due to extreme weather conditions experienced in the Cape over the last couple of days, the Pedal Power Association (PPA) was compelled to cancel the 2020 Medihelp Stellenbosch Cycle Tour which was set to take place on Sunday 19 January in and around Stellenbosch. With a wind forecast of up to 95 km an hour along the 97 km route throughout the day, the safety of the more than 3 000 riders who entered the race would have been in jeopardy if the race continued. At 03:00 on Sunday morning, an emergency consultation was held with the Venue Operations Centre (VOC) Safety Officer, the title sponsor of the race, Medihelp Medical Aid, PPA Management and the Risk Assessment and Event Managers from ER24. The various assessment teams were sent out to evaluate the conditions and communicated visuals to the VOC of extremely unsafe conditions along the route, upon which the decision was made to cancel the race. “It is truly disappointing that we were forced to cancel the Medihelp Stellenbosch Cycle Tour due to these extreme weather conditions. Being one of our flagship events, a lot of time and effort has gone into the preparation of this event. The PPA, however, places the safety of cyclists first and foremost,” said Rens Rezelman, Chairman of the PPA. Newly appointed Principal Officer of Medihelp Medical Aid, Ettie da Silva, said that Medihelp donated the food which had been prepared for the day to The Haven Kensington charity. “We would like to thank everyone for entering the race as well as all our suppliers, sponsors and partners for being so understanding on the day,” Rezelman concluded.
  16. I have 50mm's on..only option I have at the moment, don't have my other wheels built up at the moment.. if it looks too rough tomorrow morning I'm just taking my mtb.
  17. I'm really considering taking my MTB instead and just see how long I can hold on to 1A. I've only started road cycling in December and done just the one Sportiff. I feel I might be too inexperienced for these conditions on a road bike.
  18. Just the start/finish is in Stellenbosch mos.. Most of the route is around Paarl, and it's pumping here at the moment!
  19. At the Atta..
  20. Going on Milky's experience I won't back one of them winning on Sunday..
  21. Coming from Paarl for the race..if the weather is really that k@k I'm just going to turn left at Boschendal and pedal straight home. At least it looks like a tailwind from there back home.
