The best part is the question has already been answered.

Now it's time for the 'I know betterer than you' bickering.

IMHO, i'd also buy a close range road cassette and use all of it.

Have a completely different chain/gear setup when you come and visit Mamil and I in Cape Town and we go up some mountains

Friday Came Early This Week. 😂

Now we Know who rode the Cape Epic. 😝

  2.

You have the Torque on Your legs to drive a 36 on the Mountain.

    Some of Us Don't.

Occasionally, I revert to a 34, especially for stage races.

    Why ?

You could just use the 34 All the Time.

You can Fit a 36 or a 38 on a Cypher But Titan Says 38 is not recommended.

Risers come in different sweeps. And you could fix the reach with a longer or shorter stem.

Costs $$$ and Just Frana gave you the Answer He Knows Whats What (And It wont work anyway )

It is a Fox rhythm 32 shock. Will be interesting to know how the tube is replaced

Guess it looks cool, but not everybody want to sit in that position for hours. I think this can be a real deal breaker for some buyers. If you buy a new bike, surely you want to be able to do a propper setup? Not clever move to cut is too short from the start in my opinion.

will have a look at riser bars, but I often ride with my hands more inwards on the bars, to hide from the wind, so I prefer the bar to be straight

    thanks all

Riser Bars is Not The Answer @droo can replace the Steering Tube to put in a Full Length One.

Did a 100km MTB event on the weekend and after years and years of being a solid Hardtail fan I realised my old body needs a wee bit more comfort and thus a dual sus was needed.

pulled the trigger on a Trance 1 (29) which should be in my garage towards the back end of next week. Got it for a great price too being NOS 2022 model and my local Giant store owner gave me some trinkets to go with it. ( 3rd bike I have bought there in 6 years ).

    like a kid at Christmas.

Nice Bike Similar Geometry to a Merida 120

Enjoy your Choice Even Though they are Heavier they are faster than Hardtails.

It will feel like a Rolls-Royce compared to a Hardtail.

That should not have caused the issues you explained. Did you flush out what was in the fork lowers prior to using the magnatec?

No I did Not, Just Drained and used the paper towel and dowel to clean the Bushing.

What do you use in your Forks ?

5W30 is a 5W with a healthy dose of VI improver. The tackiness comes from the higher levels of Extreme pressure additives. Motorbike oil is not the same as motor car engine oil. Some are but not all. It depends on cooling mechanism and wether wet or dry clutch

So We must not Use Motor Oil in the Lowers ?

It was recommended in a Number of Threads (Magnatec 5w30)

When I used it I had a Bad experience.

Thanks for confirming, I suspected as much. Most bike branded suspension oil is just bought from another manufacturer and relabelled. RS 0W30 is most likely just relabelled Maxima 4 stroke motorbike oil.

    That's just Speculation.

I've Read most Fork and Shock Suspension Manuals and Not one of them tells you to use Motor Oil in the Lowers. That's why I don't believe everything that is posted on the Internet I do my own Research and Testing on my own bikes.

When I used 5w30 Motor oil on the RS I found that it attracted Sand to the Stanchions Made White parts Yellow and the Seals did not last.

You can use Motor oil If you want. I will not use it on my own Bikes Forks and do not recommend using Motor Oil in the Lowers. I current use the full range of Motul Fork OIL Products and it's working for me and my NON Internet Friends.

Afraid I will defer to only one person on this one, and that's @DieselnDust. The Rockshox website will only tell you all the reasons you should only buy their specific stuff.

I've used It before and "to me" it does not look, feel or smell like Motor Oil it's more like Maxima.

    Motor Oil is much Darker.

I also Trust all RockShox Lubricants from SRAM.

Depends on the fork. Fox in particular use the same oil in dampers and lowers on their older forks and on the damper side on their GRIP forks, Their 20W Gold is closer to machine slideway oil than anything else. Some RS forks use a 15W fork oil in the lowers, others use 0W30 motor oil.

For lubing seals, whatever you use in the lowers is ideal, but basically anything without seal swelling additives will be fine.

The RockShox 0w30 is in Fact MultiGrade High Performance Suspension Fluid.

It Is Far From Motor OIL and Not Related to Car Engines Diesel or Petrol.
