  1. Where do you do your open water swims? I've done Kalk Bay Harbour. I have a 3.2km swim on Saturday and a 160km ride and 22km run on Sunday.
  2. Had a 100km ride and 17km run on Saturday morning and felt good. So feeling a bit better about the race which is in less than a months type... (squeeky bum time) I just can't shake this tired feeling though, dammit I can sleep for 7-8 hours at night ( I basically just drop whatever I'm doing/suppose to do and go sleep) and I'm still so tired....
  3. Not cool, it sounds like that bike "was on order" if that was their MO pull rider off and throw bike into a van.
  4. Not cool, I rode that on Sunday with a mate and we were commenting on how nice it is riding out that way....
  5. Sterkte bru, I also woke up this morning with a stuffy nose and asked the missus to phone the ambulance.... She told me to calm down and showed me where the Corenza C was...
  6. I bombed last week Thursday in the pool. I only managed about 1.3kms and then got out. Everything about that session was wrong. I put it down to my attitude about the session. I was tired, got home later than usual from work and just had a rushed supper and then got to the pool. What I should have done was just chill a bit more at home get my head into it and then go to the pool. Anyway, I found myself craving sugar so I hit the nearest garage shop 500ml coke and a massive Barone and just sat there watching people in and out the shop. My rest day on Friday got me back on track cause I'm happy with my weekends training sessions and this mornings session!
  7. I had my long run two weeks ago and I agree that long run was completely ****. On Saturday I had a really good 26km, yesterday was a brutal 155km (I had to do 160km as per Simon, Simon is my training program and I do what Simon says) but with the wind yesterday I think I'm ok by shaving off 5kms. In saying it was brutal I fitted an ISM saddle and HELLO no more having to pump my member through my chamois and looking like a complete weirdo on my bike. Where was this seat all my life! My hands feel weird though like I've irritated a nerve or something. My 3km swim this morning was also good so I should be feeling on top of the world but in all honesty, I'm tired! I could do with a 2 hour nap, you know those midday naps where you strip down to your onnie and actually get into your bed instead of just laying on the covers... Serious serious nap needed! As you say + - 1 month to go! Sterkte mense.....
  8. Sportopia Cycles in Woodstock Cape Town had a demo of these units. I think they having another demo Saturday 22/02/2020
  9. I'm starting to panic about my run off the bike. My brick sessions are always slow, the program says to include the run walk which I do. Anything under 20kms I breeze and I come home feeling super fresh. Is this one of those things where one day I'll wake up and all of a sudden my run off the bike will feel much better and for now I just keep on slogging away?
  10. I'm using the Biofuse at the moment, probably about 2 years old now and fortunately don't leak... What's the saying, don't scratch where it doesn't itch?
  11. I was using a pair of Mr Price goggles as I was interested to see if they lasted. It went well for a few months and last week binned them cause they leaked throughout my whole session. I'm looking at these now https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/arena-x-sight-goggle-c1099278
  12. We live and we learn, that's the beauty of sport. The most seasoned athlete can have one good race and the next boom, just wants to quite. Good luck in prepping for the next race.
  13. When are you riding again, I'm happy to join you! :-)
  14. You should never worry about what the others are doing, you race your race... Well done on your swimming, consistency is key! Keep it up, one day you'll be doing Ironman and no I'm not joking :-)
  15. Yeah man, I had one on Sunday. I had to laugh cause as I came home after my ride on Sunday and left my bike at the door (the missus said she'll put it away when I left) I quickly changed into my running kit and my daughters are there standing talking to me. From inside I hear the missus shouting, "girls please give dad some space, this is the transition area"
  16. Yeah, Saturday is a big ride for me and the weather folk are predicting a bit of a breeze...
  17. Hey Stiggy, not so sure about the supportive wife, she's become bossy now... She wanted a copy of the training program and now questions "How hard the session was and did I do it properly??" everytime I get home...lol I'm following a program and really giving it everything. As for the partners, I have running, swimming and cycling partners so, so far so good. Happy training everyone!
  18. Good luck, hope it goes well.
  19. Is this thread quiet cause we're all training? Hope everyone's training is going well?
  20. Cheers guy, thanks for the tip... Luckily she's not a wine mom she'll be on the track probably taking lotsa pics and making sure the girls smash the course and have fun. Then it will be our turn, I'll try my best for her to get some airtime over the jumps.
  21. My eldest also went through a stage like this, then I was on Insta one night and showed them (her and her sister) a video about a little kid smashing some trail and then she seemed keen to get back on. I started slowly With her and there we go. She tackled a 4km trail ride the other day (part of a kiddie triathlon) She was loving it me not so much, I was busy kakking myself cause I had to do some "on the spot" training cause madam didn't know where to position pedals when negotiating rocks and tree stumps. The last thing I needed was her to fall. Anyway she finished (both of them actually) they now classify themselves as Triathletes....
  22. Heading to Contansia Uitsig this weekend with my girls, they are both super amped... Mom not so much though... It's time mom got some dirt on her MTB...
  23. Fortunately the council resurfaced the road so I no longer need to concentrate on that section of road anymore.
  24. I'd prefer a headwind in the morning, cycling home into a headwind isn't the best.
  25. Had a similar situation close to where I live, used to run past this one spot where some box also thought it was a good idea to dump concrete, one morning still half asleep on my morning run I wasn't concentrating and my foot got caught on the concrete and I went down like a sack of ****... I was the moer in to put it mildly!
