  1. good on them - this is a huge relief. i do agree that they should have more SA riders on the team
  2. Gman, a wave normally works i have been known to chat to cyclists while marshalling... ask anyone who's been on one of the big Hub rides
  3. hmmmm - i think i'm gonna have a different target time for each time i go around... and in what capacity i'm going around each time... and whether i stop to help out at the intersection hmmm.... is there anyone who can make me a hubber "flag" to pop on my bike so that you bunch will actually greet me for a change instead of looking like through me like i'm a piece of rubbish? yes, mine is the ONLY bright yellow SV650... *sulk*
  4. thanks rad, then if it's ok by you i'll donate it to sign up
  5. rad006 - i'll give you R200 (december payday) towards reserving space for the sign-up space if that helps to ensure it's spot is reserved?
  6. hot stuff, he WAS a good looking guy - now he's just plain hideous. a tastefull tatoo on arms, body, back or legs is ok, but NOT front of neck or face
  7. SD, i have encountered this so many times it's just not funny anymore. i'll never forget the first year at D2D a wifey who had parked where it was clerly indicated NOT to park then insisted on risking the lives of peeps coming in to the finish by driving through/over them to get out to go fetch hubby who'd had a mechanical and she "had to get to him urgently - he's stuck at the side of the road" also had someone rushing to the aid of a buddy with a mechanical at the Fast One this year... but shaunh and the TB marshals sorted him out. so yeah - the jeckyl and hyde problem of "cyclists own the road while i'm cycling, but cars own the road when i'm driving" is certainly not helping to make cycling any safer. it also applies from the top guys (the wifey in question above) to the tail enders (the Fast One episode was definitely not a front runner)
  8. owowowowow!!! fanie - i feel for you. don't let it form scabs - use zambuc or such liek to prevent that from happening...
  9. WHOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. good going dude - glad you've got your cycling back on track
  11. wannabe, here's an idea - why don't we all just get guns and shoot everyone that upsets us - teach them not to do it again? but yeah - whatever blows your hair back. my conscience is clear that i'm not contributing to anyone being deliberately hurt.slowpoke2008-10-21 07:26:29
  12. wannabe - if you don't want to report it then don't - your choice. BUT do not use that as a justification for DELIBERATELY ANTAGONISING people. and also do not use it as justification for taking the law into your own hands. because then you are absolutely no better than the person who deliberately mows down or attempts to mow down cyclists for riding 2 abreast and/or preventing them from overtaking. those who say that aggessive behaviour is right because it taught the driver a lesson remember your own words when someone teaches you a lesson.
  13. nope spinnekop - "some guys assuming this is now me" is very wrong. that would be directed towards peeps who support the extreme behaviour of antagonising peeps into extreme behaviour. you would simply have used hand language and left it - not kept riding after her - judging by your general behaviour
  14. PB, i'll give you a call as soon as i've got home and changed... i'll fill my water bottle while you're on your way
  15. spinnekop, you know that i do not usually use that kinda language to this extent, but i'm fed up with the 2 extremes of attitude - the one where peeps take the law into their own hands and then make things worse for everyone else having achieved nothing and the other of doing absolutely nothing and complaining that nothing ever happens. at least if you've reported it then you've done something and if the person ever does soemthing similar again there is a chance that their pattern of behaviour will be noted and borne in mind. so i will never say smile and wave and leave it at that. but i will also never condone nor approve of antagonising the person, aggravating the situation and making life more difficult for everyone else.
  16. PB, dunno what was harsh about that - he got what he asked for. my view is that i will not risk antagonising someone into hurting someone (ess those i love, such as friends and family) - i'll rather walk away. but then again, some guys might feel that this makes them look weak and as such they have to "be men" and behave in a way they think is how "men behave". so you say the weather is holding up? cool. you ok to drive? otherwise i have my car back.
  17. spinnekop - so you're saying to rather aggravate the situation - what the F does that achieve???? other than P-ing more people off. here's your friggin sign! who the F do you think this woman is going to take her behaviour (now, in her opinion justified) out on next? another cyclist... this time most likely alone... in that area - so here's something for you to chew on... if/when MichH gets hit by a red citi golf what the F are you gonna do????? yes... that's right... my friend happens to live in that area. i would much rather that there are no justifiably P-ed off drivers in her area. CATCH A WAKE UP = VIOLENCE BEGETS VIOLENCE - DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS - EVEN IF THEY ARE IN CARS DRIVING AROUND YOU. AND DEFINITELY DO NOT GIVE THEM FURTHER CAUSE TO BEHAVE IN THEIR STUPID WAYS.
  18. willehond - that is my point - by reacting hte way they did this woman will always think she was in the right AND many other peeps will agree with her and everything is just worse.
  19. scotty - i've had an incident where a GSXR rider pissed off a cager on the highway a couple of 100 meters ahead of me... i was the next biker to ride past... audi driver tried to swerve into me... i tried to back off but didn't have space to manouvre... truck next to audi saw he was trying to kill me... truck driver promptly used hand signs out window to show me to get UNDER his truck... his passenger hung out passenger side showing me signals and go tme to safety - i DID NOT break the dude's mirror, kick his car or anything - i backed out of the situation and found that OTHER road users WILL help you to do so. so i can honestly say i've been there done that. took the less aggressive way out and it paid off - no huge issues re personal injuries or civil suits etc
  20. Trapped, my only question is why, when you saw that she was a rabid bitch, did you not just take her registration number and wait or her to leave and then continue on your way then go report her? instead you aggravated the situation by constantly continuing to ride before she was gone? in such a situation, the then-and-there instant response to avoid confrontation would surely have been preferential?
  21. as per those pics posted - put the strap against your skin just beneath your assets so that it is flat... even i with my negligible assest find if the strap creeps up then the sensor section loses contact with the skin and then i also "die off". wet teh strap before you put it on i then make sure it stays in place by putting a crop-top on over the strap - a bra doesn't hold it as well.
  22. aaargh... cafe europa here i come.........
  23. thanks ianJ - how the heck am i meant to make it through the day now that you went and mentioned that cappucino????? well done to Alex and his gang!
