Racetec is hanging, so I guess something is happening...

I have the same issue with the wind... I am more of a roadie, but commute with my MTB...If I see a roadie I have to chase them down or any other cyclist as a matter of fact. The other morning I was racing my boss in her car to the office for about 10km, we arrived at Mutualpark at the same time...I still had to go shower however.

Not good, now it seems we are reduced to Polka...that area by the camera close to Neetlinghshof is most probable also going to become a hot spot...:-(

Something I noted over the last two weeks, the roads are littered with glass in January...

I use a lean protein shake mixed with milk after longer rides, the other recovery drinks just doesn't taste as good to me...

Agreed rest is the best medicine...I was off the bike 4 weeks and did the CDC, I have no sore muscles now. It must be noted I did suffer however, but due to constipation...build up of a different kind. I always feels stronger after a good resting period of +1 week.

This weather forecast looks promising, I was in Colombia for 2 weeks and 1 week in New York...only got back yesterday and now the small matter of doing the DC Saturday. Hopefully the jetlag does not hurt me as much as the lack of cycling the last 3 weeks...

Anyone cycling from Kuilsriver to the start and back home again?

Indeed a tough day on the bike...I sat in the K group with the Outriders until the waterpoint before the silos. It was a mistake to get some water it seems as I never recovered after that stop, stopped just before the N1 and sat for 10 minutes assessing my cycling aspirations... Got back on the bike and I only managed 11km/h until the next water point on the other side of the N1...sat behind smaller groups as they passed but couldn't push myself anymore and fell off again everytime. At the end managed 6:41.

Do you guys know of any good courier services from Cape town to Joburg for the race?

Why wouldn't you import carbon road wheels? Seems alot less riskier than a frame?

That is fast, I will try and join this coming week. How long does it take you from Polka(Link road) to Pick n Pay Soneike...that will be the portion I would like to join you guys on...Also don't laugh at my 2003 classic.

Indeed that was a great link for guys doing the Polka/Kayamandi/Bottelary loop, I cut out Kayamandi and opted to go past Cloetesville thinking its safer but alas bike-jacking there as well... I'm from Kuilsriver thus my options are becoming limited...Eersteriver is out as well, thus the Somerset(R44)/Eersteriver loop is out as well...I guess all I can do now is mostly returning the same way I came or maybe repeats of safe loops...
