  1. Commuted to work today on Bridgestone RB-2 and decided to take a lunch time ride to Vida in Parktown to get my free drink from Vitality Rewards. Felt like such a hipster riding my 'vintage' bike with steel toe-clips in my work clothes
  2. Some new rubber for my Anthem. Thanks Easybike
  3. My first long distance MTB, great event. Would have liked to know beforehand where the water points were going to be though. Got a bit lonely until I got to the 70km mark. I didn't have a problem with the last bit.
  4. Not today, but some pics from a ride we did yesterday in the Deneysville/Vaal Dam area. Just went exploring, was too much fun.
  5. Ooops! https://www.onedayonly.co.za/
  6. One day Only got some MTB stuff on special today. https://www.onedayonly.co.za/
  7. Picked up a common cold virus last week, not sure if it's cos I've been riding too hard every morning and afternoon during my commutes. Anyway, also missing riding my bike, waiting to recover properly before I decide to commute again, Gandalf, did you see FreedomRider_MHD posted a PDF with pamphlets to print and leave on cars that park in the cycle lanes.
  8. Personally, I think that the amount of good threads out-weight the amount of bad threads on the Hub, it's just that the bad one's are more popular and get most of the attention... just like everything else in the world. Some Hubber's like to participate in the dramatic threads but I think most Hubbers are here to talk about cycling. 9/10 times, the threads that go bad are the 'Rant' threads. I'm not going to lie, I enjoy reading the dramatic thread's, but that's it. I think when two parties are involved in a dispute, they should discuss it amongst themselves and sort it out, no need for everyone else to give their 2 cents. Maybe an idea is that for the Ranting threads, that only the two parties involved should be allowed to comment, and that any thread's that are created to criticise another rant thread should be deleted and the creator of the thread should be given a warning.
  9. Awesome, i did not know that. Also, the 'air vent backing system' that some of the K-Ways have is really awesome because the bag doesn't rest directly on your back, so your back doesn't get all sweaty when riding.
  10. I have this one (not this colour though, came in bright orange when I bought mine): https://www.capeunionmart.co.za/k-way-meru-25-back-pack
  11. Some nice bags that can used for commuting on sale at Cape Union at the moment. I bought a K-Way bag a while ago from them, has space for hydration pack/straw, helmet, shoes, rain cover and reflective pieces for visibility. Use it to pack my shoes, clothes towel, tools lunch when I ride to work. Here are some of the bags on sale now: R399 https://www.capeunionmart.co.za/k-way-airstream-hydration-pack R699 https://www.capeunionmart.co.za/k-way-tsitsikamma-daypack
  12. I have an Anthem 27.5, 2014 model. I LOVE the bike to bits... It is a machine. It can handle anything and everything.
  13. Hi, I'm Catatonic Joe and I'm addicted to Google+. I highly doubt the pics photoshopped, here are some more pics from his table mountain ride. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/03/08/article-1364113-0D814D70000005DC-414_964x632.jpg http://cdn.c.photoshelter.com/img-get2/I00002UPDZ_Thhps/fit=1000x750/Kenney-Belaey-1232.jpg http://cdn.c.photoshelter.com/img-get2/I0000KqRXtJCMRf8/fit=1000x750/Kenney-Belaey-1208.jpg
  14. Doesn't really make me want to ride, but I didn't know where else to post it. Someone shared this on Google+ this morning... http://s2.postimg.org/vt273k06h/article_1364113_0_D814_D70000005_DC_414_964x632_2.jpg #BallsOfSteel Kenny Belaey rides cable wires at Table Mountain, which overlooks Cape Town, South Africa.
  15. Rode to work today and forgot I had taken my towel home to wash, and I didn't carry one in my bag with me. So had a shower and had to wait around to dry before I could put on my work clothes. Thank goodness it was my towel and not my shoes/jeans/t-shirt.
  16. Thanks Mayhem. Yeah, my plan is to get an additional wheelset, never thought a putting a 26" wheel though, I'm sure I'll be able to find a decent set for a good price. Will a 29er wheelset work as well? I do like the grip on the Shwalbe's...
  17. Hey guys, so I'm going to need to get some new rubber soon. I know there have been threads about this before, but I can't seem to find them... so I'm looking for AM/XC oriented tyres that will give me decent mileage on tar (as I commute to work on my MTB quite often) as well as for normal AM/XC riding. Currently have the standard Racing Ralph's that came on my 27,5 Anthem and from previous experience I learnt that these don't fair too well on tar. I would assume it's because of the soft compound used by Shwalbe. I've heard that Conti's use a harder compund and therefore last longer... true?
  18. Not chirping. Seriously looked to me like your bike was submerged in that stuff... cool pic. I see Yeti is having their annual tribe gathering in Nepal this year, must be an awesome place to go ride. Haha, having a laugh at myself now... Seriously thought 'indian/Nepalese tar' was like some sort of quick sand you get in India or Nepal... I think I need to go sleep.
  19. Hectic, I'll Google it, must feel like riding through wet concrete. Weird that the un-submerged part of your wheels/tyre's look so clean.
  20. What is that? Looks like wet concrete
  21. Awesome bike! Looks like you really went on an adventure with your Anthem, details?
