  1. Did anybody else notice how much Cape Town loves Travis? Edit: Added ?
  2. I had a nice first Argus, could've been better I think, but my fault, not the Argus's. Did a time of 4:37. Had a puncture (safety pin) after Chappies and couldn't find my bomb connector thingy, so had to ride a couple km's with a flat until I found a guy on the side of the road with a pump. Legs were complaining from the beginning. my fault also as I hardly drank any water in preparation for the race, luckily I had enough water on the ride to keep going without having to stop at any of the the water points. Other than that, had a great race, spoke to lots of people during the ride. Narrowly missed a bad accident as some guy lost it right in front of me, just managed to avoid him without taking anybody else out around me. Would love to do it again, flipping expensive trip coming from JHB though.
  3. Damnit! I was just about to post exactly the same thing! Well please accept this as my only contribution to this thread

  5. Brilliant idea, thanks for adding me btw
  6. I think it depends on the kind of hill you're climbing. If its got loose rocks and stones then I try and keep my backside on the saddle to give better grip on my rear wheel. If it looks like my rear wheel will get enough traction or if I can find a nice grippy line up the hill then I push my weight forward, drop a gear or two and get it over with as quickly as possible. Edit: Watched the video after I commented... sort of what the dude says.
  7. Melville hills are great training. I start in Brixton/Crosby. My ride is about 10km's one way with 260m of climbing going home. This week I took a detour past Sentech tower to get a bit extra climbing in.
  8. I didn't like how they referred to cyclists, like they're alien, like there's something wrong them, for example, the way she said how they have those weird things on there feet... But that's just me, I'm entitled to my opinion too, and I think they're a bunch of twat$ who are just trying to spread hate.
  9. I do agree that a lot of what they say can be annoying to lots of road users, I just don't like the way they've done it. Even though, as a commuter myself, I try as much as I can to follow the rules and be as polite to other road users as I can, I still find this video really offensive. I just want to slap them... really hard... on their silly faces.
  10. Well, not me, but these guys do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfuS-aazVmE I think it's the duty of every Hubber to go onto Youtube and dislike this video. And share it with your buddies and tell them to do the same.
  11. The Niner, I mean what is there to think about... it's like... never mind, dirty thoughts.
  12. I travel 10km's (One way), takes me 25-30mins going to work, 35-40mins going home. Going home is almost all uphill. Speed is between 18-38km/h
  13. Doesn't seem like I'm gonna get much work done today...
  14. Cool, I'm also in X
  15. Started commuting again in preperation for my first Argus and the Magalies Monster Monster half marathon. This is what I learnt this week so far. My legs burn a little bit more everyday Make eye contact and smile and the drivers around you, 9/10 times they will give you way When your legs burn a lot in the morning when going to work, doesn't mean it's going to hurt more when you going home. (Unless my legs a numb and they can't feel anything) Leaving a pair of shoes at work, makes your bag much lighter and you have more space for food I'm hungry all the time Planning to keep riding Tuesdays to Thurdays in the week, riding from Mayfair to Rosebank. Going to work is easy, going home I have to climb about 200m in my 10km (one-way) commute.
  16. Wow, it seems that you guys get annoyed by a LOT of things.. can't people just do the race however they want, with knobblies, with a fat bike... Any advice as to what colours I should where when I ride, or brand of deodorant, so as not to p!$$ any you guys off.
  17. Going to be my first Argus, can't wait, I heard it's pretty awesome.
  18. Thanks, I have a M771, but the cage is totally different. But thanks, will keep an eye out for a 10spd one? So if somebody had a broken 10spd one that will work, I'll take it of your hands.
  19. That's insane! Funny thing is I was listening to Rage Against the Machine when I saw this post... love those guys.
  20. Hey guys, I have Shimano XT M772 rear dérailleur that got slightly damaged during a ride last week. One of the cage plates, not sure whether it's the inner or outer plate (as I do not have the Dérailleur here with me) broke. The Dérailleur still works perfectly and would just hat to throw away an almost perfectly good 9 Speed Dérailleur especially with the lack 9 Speed parts nowadays. If anybody has an M772 Dérailleur lying around with perfectly good cages, please let me know, I will even buy it from you. Thanks,
  21. So... whose going? I'll be there. Hubs awfully quiet about this...
  22. I won the downhill kit, got an email yesterday requesting my size
