  1. Thanks I will give them a call
  2. Thanks, yeah, is still a bit pricey
  3. Yeah, I wouldn't mind either, whichever is cheaper and works. The cheapest I found locally for one with a base that would replace the quick release mount on the trailer was about R350. I would also make it myself if I had the tools and the know how.
  4. Found this also, although not sure what I would do to improvise to make the base work. http://cdn.instructables.com/F7H/24PA/HAQ2Z6PA/F7H24PAHAQ2Z6PA.MEDIUM.jpg http://cdn.instructables.com/FT4/YF3L/HAQ2Z6OR/FT4YF3LHAQ2Z6OR.MEDIUM.jpg Parts List: (1) 1/2" diameter, Galvanized pipe "T" (1) Base / pedestal floor mount (2) 1/2" diameter Galvanized pipe, 1" in length (you the actual length depends on how tight you wrench it together and how much slop you want. (1) 1/2" diameter, 2" length (this can vary a few inches depending how high you want it to be, keep it lower for less stress on the part. (1) Base wood stand (I had a piece of 3/4 plywood (4" wide x 34" long) around so I used that. You could use a 2"x6" if you want. I would keep it at least 36 wide so stays flat on the SUV or truck floor. (4) 3/4" wood screws OPTIONAL (1) Paint (optional) (1) Fabric (optional, but it sure makes it look nice) (1) length of 4" wide, 36" long male Velcro (1) Spray adhesive (optional, used if you decide to cover the base with fabric) Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
  5. I've searched the hub high and low for answers, please let me know if you find it.
  6. Here's another one on Amazon for $44 - $98: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71OC8iCO9NL._SL1500_.jpg http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61w2eNiMUjL._SL1500_.jpg
  7. Hi, So I've spend spent all my money on a new bike and now I can't put it on our trailer rack because of the through axle. I checked around for prices on a through axle mount for the trailer and it going to cost about R300, which is crazy in my opinion. I saw this on some on a international site and though for somebody with the know how, it could be pretty simple to make... I will obviously pay if someone can make it for me. http://www.bikemag.com/files/2011/01/wpid-hurricane-400.jpg http://www.bikemag.com/files/2011/01/wpid-pg2pcbgfrkp.jpg
  8. What's a PROPER saddle bag? Zips on my bag kept opening, I've lost count on how many multi tools, trye levers, tubes and cans I've lost, thanks god I never put my car keys in there,
  9. I'm done with saddle bags, lost too much of my S#!t because of them.
  10. Oh, I see it was like this before: http://sales.brick7.co.za/media/za/329001_329100/329096_272903b186fe22a0.jpg No Idea why they changed it, probably did some R & D and came up with Maestro which worked better?
  11. All the Giant DS's I've seen have the shock in a vertical position, unless it was horizontal before my time...
  12. From what I've heard, the suspension on the Merida's are rated pretty crappy, and I've been hearing great things about Maestro. Personally, I found the suspension on my Merida pretty decent as my butt didn't hurt as much as it did when I rode a hardtail and it use to give me a fairly smooth ride, so as far as I was concerned, the suspension worked pretty well. So I can't wait to take my Anthem out for a proper ride to feel what a well rated suspension system feels like.
  13. Yeah, I did see that... was wondering about that.
  14. Some propaganda from Giant
  15. I had a Merida AM before I got my Anthem last week. I hated the psotion of the rear shock because it made it almost impossible to put my bike on my boot rack, and beacuse of it I couldn't have a water bottle on my frame, so I always had to carry a camelbak on my rides. The anthem's shock is in a similar position to the merida, but fits there WAYY better, now I put the bike on my car with ease, and I can have a water water on my frame.
  16. I have a pair of these white Bontragers, they're still white... been using them for over a year now, just need to give them a good wish and wipe, especcially after muddy rides. Got them for R899 from Solomons. http://www.garyrides.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/bontrager-rl-moutain-shoe.jpg
  17. Just googled it and saw that too, Cyclelab price is R5799. I'm thinking I'm just going to get a cable lock and lock the bike and rack to the tow hitch on my car.
  18. Is this the one? http://cdn1.static-tgdp.com/ui/productimages/classification_1_root/image_hierarchy/imagefolder_5111/imagefolder_362029/9003xt_oc_sized_450x300.jpg Can the bikes be locked? Reason I'm asking, is I've got a Holdfast rack that latches to my boot with straps, and I just got I new bike, and I was thinking it would be so easy for someone with a knife to just cut the straps and be off with the rack and the bike while I'm stopped at a robot or similar situation.
  19. Got me an Anthem 27.5 1 on Saturday... OMG, it's awesome!
  20. Finally have something decent to contribute to this thread. Giant Anthem 27.5 1, got her on Saturday, my first complete bike purchase, previous bike was built up from 2nd hand parts. Haven't yet ridden her properly yet (fasting), but from initial experiences, it's like a race car compared to my previous 26" AM rig. Had the the standard 100mm stem swapped out for a 70mm and tubeless conversion done.
  21. I don't think it'll work, it might hold up one, maybe two bikes, but more than that and it'll probably topple over, You will need some sort of support for the legs: An A-frame will still be a lot sturdier though
  22. Thanks... I'll post a review after I do a bit of riding on it.
  23. I've use to service and upgrade my old bike on my own, so I kinda know my way around a bike. But yeah, I guess this time I'd rather let my LBS do it.
