  1. Enjoyed watching the whole prologue and about an hour each day after getting home from work (I am glad they are riding slowly!) Can't wait for the mountains, the flat stage breakaways seem to always be reeled in, but a good climber on a good day, is going to do some serious damage. Hunter has done well, will be interesting to see how BWR change tactics when the mountains arrive, or will they just hope to hang on. My money is on CSC. They have seemed very well organised and are worthy of the Yellow. Final note - the scenery and the aerial shots have been awesome!
  2. I'll be surprised (pleasantly) if he makes it to the start this morning. He did well yesterday. Did you notice him giving the slit throat sign when the camera panned to him. A sign of the end, or a war cry?
  3. Have seen a couple of Park tools at City Cycles in Canal Walk.
  4. Yawn, it was rubbish. We'll have to wait for the classics coming up in the next couple of weeks.
  5. Aren't there a couple of shacks on the same side of the road close to that section or have the council cleared them out? I recall incidents of stoning and fires close the the Huey landing pad. What are the other options - Harbour or Woodstock?
  6. Ya I know, you right, but then they complain when people buy the sunnies on the street corners for R50 and call it fakeleys. Problem is, the fakeleys is actaully "realleys", they just come out the back door of the company. Sorry, can't agree with this. Whilst I am no expert, I have compared (jackets & wires) and IMO the fakes are significantly inferior. Lenses, coatings, finish, materials are all poor quality. Not saying that Oakleys costs hundreds/thousands to make, but quality cannot be compared. Proudly Oakley! - (First pair Frogskins and 10 others since then.)
  7. tooHot takes to the bushes in the hope of pouncing on some unsuspecting female cyclist.
  8. If you do a fair bit of running as well go for the Polar 625x. If you are ging to mainly cycle go for 720/725. I have the 725x, and have not had any issues. Product Support is very good as evident at the Argus expo.
  9. at least then there would've been some nakedness around' date=' appropriate to Savannah's instead of beer perhaps? [/quote'] Good Call - some nakedness would have gone a long way to solve this dimemma. Next time - Everyone does the climb naked and being called a prick no longer becomes an issue. Savannah's all round!!!
  10. I'm just dissapointed the two parties didn't slug it out old school style. You got to be prepared to back your words with action whether you r famous or not, whether you r a spectator or not. In my school you took off your tie and blazer before bliks3mming the other dude as a sign of respect to the school. Perhaps Robbie should have taken off his kit as a sign of respect to BWorld, and then puched the other dude.......then again maybe not, because everyone would have heckling by that stage - you see he would be naked and everyone would be having a laugh.
  11. Fair Enough TitusTI, But aren't you supposed to be punting for Adidas? Seem to recall somewhere that you featured in a recent ad...?
  12. More details TitusTi, What don't you like? Were a couple of the teams not wearing these on the Giro? Give us the inside tar-less track?
  13. For a couple of Bob extra, you could wait for the new Oakley's. I think they are called Radars and the launch price will be around R1,250 according to the agent at the expo - very nice, and they are Oakleys which are normally worth the additional cost.

    cycling kit?

Velotex, Anatomic, Cape Storm, Vermarc, Assos in order of cost and comfort from low to high - IMO. Go for Bibs and stay away from white. Avoid Luminous Colours at all costs, and dark coulours are not for after dark. Cheeper items can be bought at general sport stores, more expensive at your LBS.
  15. Went to Vanvouver in 2002 (no biking) to visist mates in Coquitlam(?), and previous descriptions by Sara are spot on. Very nice place, but the beach is cr@p. Suggest you try KLM for Flights, their partner is NorthWestern and they fly to Schiphol(Amsterdam) and then connect direct to Vancouver. Normally free stay over in Amsterdam which is an enlightening and magical experince (Trust me, I have been 3 times and no beer required for nakedness - Added bonus bikes are in the majority, just don't fall into the canals, oh and the shrooms are not for frying, they're for flying). Also ask if they (KLM) still have the Liberty Fare option - One price based on Miles and you can make mutiple stops in North America. We did Vancouver, NYC and the Twin Cities. Hope you are able to gather the cash - Good Luck
  16. So just how do you calculate the full price of an import? Is it Cost + Shipping + Vat ( if so how much) + Import Duties ( if so how much)?
  17. Nice one to everyone involved! - Spotted an artical in the headlines section of IOL.co.za, so the message has been sent loud and clear.

    Shoe Porn

Looks like a pollen Bee morphed into a shoe....Damm these Acid flashbacks
  19. Thanks to everyone for the information. This bicycling thing can be expensive and a wrong decision can be quite costly. The resale value on bike parts rivals only that of the TATA Indica in terms of loss of captial expended! I am leaning toward the Open Pros with Ultegra Hubs. Now to try and locate a decent wheelbuilder in Cape Town? Wonder if I could convince the elusive expert wheelbuilder amongst us to reveal his/her identity. If he or she is reading, please PM me. Any suggestions on where to buy the rims and hubs? Perhaps CWC?
  20. Require some guidance from Fatty Please - Easton Circuits or Mavic Open Pro? Fatty, read that you were around the 95kg mark, and I am 99kg. Popped a spoke at Cape Point on Sunday and the rear wheel seaized against the brake pads - game over! I need to get rid of the Shimanos which cannot stay true for longer than 2 weeks. So what should I get, the Easton's or Mavics. A couple of hubbers have also mentioned the Spinergys. Are the prices in the same league? Eastons are factory builds as far as I know, but are the Mavics built to your request, or are they also ex-factory? Don't have much info on the Spinergys. Also need to know whether the rear is 9/10 speed Shimano compatible. Thanks.
  21. Well spotted bruce, MABY its intentional? or MABY its American?
