  1. Finally - can't wait. I am tired of looking at the same CSC kit and the Polar 720i that has been on the website front page for the past 6 months! Come on Chris-Jr, Chris-mas bonuses arrive soon. Lets see what Chris-mas goodies you have...!!!
  2. Pop's - Don't buy the combo. Most DVD RAM/Recorders already have up to 250GB. Rather get a stand alone DVD player/recorder that has HDMI out, progressive scan, and that can upscale to 1080i. Your plasma will only display as good as the source that you are using. A good shop will be able to assist. 10k is a lot of cash - my suggestion, go to a speciliast shop and Demo the product you want, get all the advice, and then go to a mass retailer and try to get exactly the same product at a cheaper price. Mass retailers are not good with specialist advice. Be careful though as mass retailers often get deals on old stock/last years models and then sell cheap at your expense. Check model numbers carefully. Happy shopping.
  3. My call would be the Samsung Plasma. If I remember correctly from your previous post, the LG had a lower end resolution (840x?) whilst the Samsung is 1024x768 and a better contrast ratio of 15,000:1
  4. So its the First Wednesday of the month and seeding is out. 2007/12/02Die Burger Fietstoer 10100:01:0003:20:1130.27099.50046 I was quite chuffed with my 3H20, but 01:00 is hectic. Must be all the white line crossing up an down Hells.
  5. No, not plasma!!!!!!!!!!!!! 40/42 inch LCD will suffice for most lounges/TV rooms/Braai Rooms. For your Bedroom, go for 32 inch. Don't forget, go for Full HD. Do not waste money on "HD Ready". Finally, If you do go for a Plasma - (I will save the told you so's for later) - make sure you do not purchase from Hi-Fi Corporation. Try Smart Lifestyle - Willowbridge - You stay close to Durbanville don't you? Audio Vision also have good deals from time to time, but can be pricey.
  6. LCD,LCD,LCD! Plasma is tired. If you are playing games or running DSTV/PVR - you will get screen burn on a plasma. Put aside a bit of extra cash and make sure you go for Full HD (1080p) insteak of (1080i). This will keep your telly usable for a longer period. Sony is probably best with Samsung shortly after. - IMO. If you have P3 or HD-DVD only Full HD is acceptable. For reviews check Amazon.com Samtech in Montague Gardens (around the corner from cycle factory) do Samsung in Cape Town. Not sure if it is only service, but they may also be able to order for you as well.
  7. Got mine (5) yesterday from Robotech - Thanks See you all at the Burger on Sunday with your wristbands and black ribbons!
  8. Synapse - nice bike, but too many colours on this one, and lets face it, apart from having 2 wheels, the most important thing on the bike is the colour/s. I suppose your kit will always match your bike, so theres a plus, but the SuperSix looks much better. Maybe we need a HubStyleMan ruling?
  9. Spot On - She is the best Mayor and Cape Town is a better place because of her. Unfortunately, everyone is trying to force her out so they are not embarrassed by her competence. Long live God-Zille!!!

  11. If you are crazy enough to cycle down Main Road, you close your eyes and hope for dear life you don't get knocked over by the Taxi's or Golden Arrow busses. Nevertheless, you go God-Zille. I know this is not the first time you are doing something for cycling, so BigUp to you. Perhaps she can meet with LW from CSA and start doing something serious about Cycle Safety!
  12. This is sad, very sad. Condolences to the family. With all these accidents on the roads I have put my new Road bike purchase project on hold, I think the money will be better spent on MTB.
  13. 1.87m 86kgs (lost 18 kgs this year!) Target weight 80-85kgs
  14. I do the whale, but The position of your head and windspeed/wind direction are very important to prevent nasty stains. I think the best time to expel, is when you plan an attack. Take up the tempo, turn head, expel and sprint away from the bunch, Guaranteed the rsst of the bunch will wait a bit for the spray to dissapate before trying to chase you deown. May just be long enough to get away fro good!
  15. Johan, You seem to fancy DRC rims for on/off road? Where can one see these rims in the Western Cape?
  16. Last time I checked, the person that made that speech was pushing up daisies in Arlington Cemetary. If you ask me, that worked out really, really well
  17. So much for the "systems in place" mentioned in a previous post. The only system is that there is no system!!!
  18. Pardon my ignorance but if "systems" were put in place to select the best rider for the job, would that not imply some form of Ranking System depending on race type which elimates personal bias. All Pro/Eliite Riders get ranked by races ridden, result and a race weighting dependant on degree of difficulty of race - Not just performance at SA's. If the World's course demands climbers, you provide greater weight to Races with serious climbs and re-rank - select top riders as per new ranking. If course is flat and fast with sprint finish, you provide greater weight to races that are fast and flat, then re-rank riders and select top riders as per new ranking. The only decision left would then be whether this would be a go it alone effort or a team effort?
  19. This is not an ad, nor am I a member of weight watchers "ask me how" club, but if you want to loose weight. get hold of Nataniel's (yes, the bald one himself) recipe for brown rice and lentils. It forms the basis for your meals and you add proteins etc. It was pusblished in You/Huigenoot a couple of years back and then again recently due to the popularity. I have lost 18kg's in 4 months - struth mate PM if you are interested, I think I have a scan of the article somewhere I can e-mail.
  20. The Birds Once were Warriors Delicatessen Bad Boy Bubby Santa Sangre
  21. Not to sure of the R540's, but The R500's have a 85kg limit if I remember correctly. Spoke count 20F/24R. I have lost count of the number of times I have had to true these wheels.
  22. Wow Well done to everyone for this fitting tribute. It made me sad to see the pictures, but proud to be a cyclist! Go Well Ryan, we'll miss you

    Ryan Cox

The East Rand has produced some fine cyclists, but probably none as brilliant as Ryan. He was and always will be Kempton Park's golden Boy! Our thoughts are with the Cox family during this diffuclt time. Jared Van Niekerk - Aston Manor Primary School old Boy, Sir Pierre Van Ryneveld High School Old Boy, Ryan Cox supporter!
