  1. You are off course right, but you are wasting your efforts. Most of the posters complaining (about people complaining about bad service) , is kids, like this one fellow above (still in high school) and they don't know anything about running a business yet or how to treat customers.
  2. CptMayhem is actually a financial advisor, more commonly known as a broker. Now that is a good advertisement for the industry !
  3. I agree. I am still waiting (3 days and counting ) for a reply to my email about a price quote as well ...
  4. OMG ! You have no clue about how business work , do you!
  5. The point is, if that were the only reason Admin apologized for, I would have had a hard time to believe him, since he should have known better, coming from his background and ownership of this website. However he also apologized for his lack of judgment. That being unable to resist the temptation of substantially higher advertising revenues by sending ads directly to the Hub email database than merely posting them in the classifieds section. For recognizing this mistake and apologizing for this, I do accept his apology. This is my last post in this issue.
  6. Slowbee, don't you think that when other vendors give free stuff away or give very special deals, that tha'ts not also in the interest of us as a group of cyclists? All those deals are posted in the classifieds section though, as it should be.
  7. Maybe you should have a look who started to attack other people's views with personal remarks first.
  8. You would win a poll of the biggest Hub troll or thread spammer hands down. I even like BigH compared to you.
  9. Talking of growing up ! Your responses to this issue just shows again how misinformed and uneducated your views are.
  10. I agree. Flook could have posted in the Classifieds section like all others. This was SPAM, plain and clear. Now, Admin did apologize, and I will accept his apology, but he really should have known better. He cannot really claim ignorance here .
  11. Anyone else received this first of a kind advertising email from the HUB this morning? I am a member of many forums, but never have a owner abused the membership email database to distribute spam advertising before. This is a definite first for me and something I did not subscribe for. Dear Topwine As a valued member of our site, we wanted you to be one of the first to know about some unmatched cycling specials being offered by FLOOK sporting deals: In Cape Town, a general service at Olympic Cycles, plus a set of cables and a water bottle, for just R375 (normal price R720). And in Joburg, a major service at Eagle Canyon Cycles for just R300 (normal price R600). This is 48% and 50% off the normal price respectively. Visit the Flook site now to sign up and take advantage of these great deals. Regards, the hub
  12. I have to agree with you. More and more corporates pay for the entries, but in the end, it will be like golf, it will work until nobody can afford it anymore...
  13. You might be right here. I had this happen to me for the first time this weekend. Opened up the Kenda Karma just now. Seems that the Stans/Joe's mix came into the inside casing through a thorn hole... This is how it looked like.
  14. Yes, considering that in endurance, it's the size of the aerobic engine that counts, not the size of the muscles ! The higher your LT (lactic threshold) the longer endurance you'll have. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  15. It seems a lot of people just piss a lot of expensive pee
  16. You are right. I have it actually written down as 1 - 1.2 g/kg body mass, that's for strength training (muscle building)
  17. It will help if everyone make sure all MTB races they are aware of is posted here on the Hub in the events section. Email the organizers and have them post their events here on the calendar.
  18. I am still awestruck ... struggling to close my jaw, enjoy.
  19. Not sure you are right here... You might want to double check on that one.
  20. How about me asking you a simple question? Do you think a debt addict can be cured by issuing him more debt without putting him in a rehab facility?
  21. This looks like a lekka ride ! What I also like is the sensible shorter distances for smaller kids and unfit parents who must accompany some of them ! Good route profiles and maps as well.
  22. Hi There is Klipbokkop 4x4 trails into the mountains which you can try.
  23. Yeah, it's tough. Nearly constant gradient, except for about 500 m halfway up. I did it with a MTB and the first part is the toughest as you warm up. The last 4 km's is also tear crunchingly hard. As far as I know the record is just over an hour with a MTB. My first time was 1h34 . Don't think anybody did it with a road bike yet. There is actually an "invitation only" Time trial handicapped race every year organized by Dan Hugo of XTerra fame.
  24. Jonaskop near Villiersdorp. 1350 m Total ascent in 15.3 km . Tar road to the top. It's closed to the public though. I had special permission from the farmer.
  25. Start from the lowest discounted retail price for a new bike. Lets say this is R10 000 for example. Deduct VAT of 14%, this brings it down to R8772. Deduct retail markup of between 20-30%. Now the price is between R 6748 and R 7310 . Now add a second hand discount according to year model, km's done, condition of parts etc. This can be anything from 10% to 50% (or even worse). So at a min, you are looking at a discount of 40% from new or a price of R6000, but it can be a lot lower depending on the condition, year model etc. I generally don't get interested if the price is not at least 50% less than a new one.
