  1. Interesting. What is the weight saving vs say, XT disk brake set ?
  2. No fully geared, all 30 of them. That is one improved over the years that has made the MTB'ing a lot more fun and easier on the climbs with uneven terrain.
  3. Aahh, single speed and no disk brakes I see
  4. I've grown up riding bicycles with no suspension. When I started MTB again 18 months ago, it felt very strange with the "unstable" air fork and it made me feel not in control on technical downhill stuff and therefore I locked out my front fork and have ridden it like that since. I like to ride with soft hands anyway, so I'll see. Will let you know.
  5. You have a rigid carbon fork on your single speed ?
  6. Value for money @ R49 000 !
  7. Please elaborate because I have tried to do a lot of research and I did not find very negative remarks on them. I'll have mine in a week and report back after testing my "normal" training routes, but as far as I could tell they are "flexible" and give more of a damping effect as opposed to a suspension effect of air forks.
  8. Thats impressive With lighter tyres you can drop another 500 grams. Post a pic of your bike.
  9. I've ordered a rigid carbon MTB disc fork. I'll lose 1kg at minimum and I like to ride with my air fork at locked out anyway. I've read many positive reviews about the new rigid carbon forks.
  10. Why don't you post this on the calendar in the events sections of the Hub ? https://www.bikehub.co.za/events/upcoming/
  11. Because most companies don't give a f&&& about private emails and complaints. They only respond to public criticism very quickly. I agree with you zaShadow, it is always frustating when people don't test their links or consider the webpage user. There really is no excuse for this sloppiness.
  12. Be very patient. Use your fingers and/or rough piece of cloth and rub it off. It takes quite a while (couple of hours). I cleaned both of mine and the tyres was nice and light again afterwards. If you just keep adding new sealant, the latex/rubber keeps building up inside, making it quite a bit heavier than necessary.
  13. Hi Roboluke It seems you are as technical and scientifically minded as I am. I have found the following website useful in explaining many concepts on training for cycling useful. It is written by a MD in a language that is easy to understand. Perhaps you can find some answers here. http://www.cptips.com/index.htm Training tips: http://www.cptips.com/toc.htm#trntips
  14. From Cyclingnews: At $4500 a set weighing in at only 1200 grams, it seems to be able to compete with these guys, its a matter of how big is your wallet ?! http://cdn0.media.cyclingnews.futurecdn.net/2011/04/25/2/dt_swiss_xrc950t_full_view_600.jpg
  15. Wow, but you guys (and girls) are thin skinned ! The moderators are just as much to blame in some cases. I would like to think someone calling my topic as bogus as pretty personal, but wouldn't blow my top off like others about it and go cry to moderators. You are all cyclists after all, you should be tougher than this? I suggest everyone count to 10 before they reply to a "perceived" personal comment. The temper of the Irish ...
  16. " First, lets kill all the lawyers" I must say, Shakespear has never sounded as good ...
  17. some people actually have a woman/(partner) lying next to them each night ...
  18. I know that's probably the only pleasure you have if life. Sad though ...
  19. Thanks for confirming what I always knew. Oh, and thanks for deleting my post !
  20. I ride roads like this every other week. If I would start to sue farmers like Cearus suggested, I would not only have no roads to ride on in no time, but I would look like an complete asshole and idiot in our community. I really would have thought most cyclists had some more sense of self responsibility. The thing most people forget about the RAF is that you and me have to pay for these fools riding into off road ditches. My and your premiums go up as a result of some guy not wanting to take responsibilty for his own actions.
  21. And her name is ... ?
  22. Yes, you are of course correct, I was confusing Power vs Force.
  23. This is interesting. You must be talking about acceleration power though right? To keep the speed constant, the power relationship is squared to the relative windspeed not?
  24. The PPA Wolseley loop is about 40 km (2 - 2.5 hours) if you cut out the town section, so you could cycle from Tulbach and do that. That will probably take you up to about 50 -55 km ( 3 -3.5 hours) depending on pace. I am sure you could increase the loop around Tulbach to get it up to 4 hours (around 80 km ), have a look on Google Earth. Just get permit in Wolseley for MTO forests on your way to Tulbach.
  25. Unfortunately not! If only I was there. Did the 50 km roundtrip from Kleinmond over the holidays in January. Awesome ride !
