  1. **** i just wanna TT!!!!
  2. Check the "boast about your latest purchase" thread. Sorry i are technologically disadvantaged.
  3. Go "dude" yourself. And while you are at it go and learn some economics. Terms to look out for is monopoly. I dont like paying R800 for something that cost R10.
  4. Cheese I am not one to dish out advice on how to ride hills.... however..... make sure you are in the front 5 of the group even before happy valley. This way you start effectively 20 metres ahead of the last guy in the bunch and this will give you some headway to go backwards... Also when you finish your training ride... at the end try and go uphill moerse hard for 2 minutes. Go on Andries Pretorius. On your right there will be a hill with a spinning radar on top. Jump over the gate and ride that thing out twice.... Good luck
  5. Indeed... But still I average 35km/hour on the OFM which is pretty good for me. At the 94.7 I average 30km normally...
  6. Ja Dave I don't generally train with gels... But I will use these for the upcoming road races and even Midlands 70.3. I used to believe that it is better to stick with Gu as they give these to you in PE but having said this... Roctane gels was about as common as chicken teeth this year... I don't like their other gels... If Gu like sponsors IM they should have all flavours and type of gels available everywhere. The only flavour I saw in PE was strawberry... At the Otter trial run (last year) they also allow you to stock up before the race unlimited... Now that was awesome. The current Kona World Champ uses Shotz so it has to be good...

    Shotz

http://shop.shotz.co.za/energy I am giving this a try now... I see Pete Jacobs uses it..... It also seems to be in my ark as it is NOT sweet.
  8. The OFM is logistically a dream race....... Not overcrowded at all... You can also actually park like 200m form the start... Don't try that in Joburg... At the 94.7 by the time you get to the start you have already sweated up a few climbs!!!
  9. A few climbs or not it doesn't compare to races like the 94.7km... The OFM Classic is a fast race. That portion on the highway is a free ride if you are in a bunch... The race actually only starts once you go back to town after passing the airport.. I have ridden sub 02h40 OFM but have never gone under 03h15 in the 94.7 or the Argus for that matter..... Oh and those climbs are short and steep. Nothing that a few spin classes would/should not sort out...

  11. Indeed Talus. I have 4 bikes of this specific brand (2 x road, 1 x MTB and now this TT bike) I will also keep this in mind when the time comes to upgrade again (if there will ever be such a time again) Having said this I am not sure the other suppliers are any different... Maybe before buying the next bike make sure there are not too many "unique" parts if I can call it that....... Maybe Titan bikes... They seem to be sold everywhere I look.....
  12. I kinda liked the comment about engineers... If people can custom make certain parts then..... At the end of the day the market will sort itself out... If things get too expensive then people will start importing and start "engineering". That's the way economics (open market system) work... Hence my comment regarding suppliers killing themselves. They are so expensive people are importing fake parts.... If they are well priced then there will not be a need to import stuff or engineer stuff....
  13. What TT bike??? Couldn't be!!
  14. The idea is not to name/blame one supplier. I get the feeling it may be a general problem as it has happened twice with me from different suppliers so I want to know if it has happened to others around here....
  15. I don't have a pic - bike is being assembled at a LBS. I can assure you it is not a standard clamp. It is made for this very bike and model. Still it is so small and simple. Afterwards I considered using a hose clamp Maybe I should have glued/welded the seat post in permanently. Don't plan on selling the bike in any case!
  16. That included shipping .
  17. Ok so I will not name and shame but seriously I feel ripped off. Bought a bike second hand. Got it but the "clamp" that tightens the seat was lost in transit... People who boxed it swore they did put it in and the courier says he has never lost anything but it is lost. The new clamp cost me R800. Called the "supplier" as I first suspected a LBS mark up was done but they assured me that is what it costs +-. This is a not a common part so I have no choice but order it.... When I received it I could hardly believe it. Something as small and simple as this costing that much..... Sometimes I wonder if this is why the "foreign import" market is so popular these days. I could probably have imported this part for 1/10th of the price... This is not a who is to blame for the lost part thread. This is about the ridiculous costs of certain parts that supplier knows only they make (can't buy it over the counter at any bike store - only at the endorsed vendor...) A similar thing happened last year... I lost a gel pad of my TT bike.... ended up paying these guys R600 (or something like that) for the replacement from a different supplier all together. What do you think??

    Amashova 2013

Anyone staying in PMB that will be willing to pick up a few race packs for us? We are three friends only able to leave Bfn at 10 am on Saturday.... Once in PMB we will call you to arrange pick up of the race numbers... Also how the hell are we supposed to get back to PMB afterwards?
  19. Mongoose! Its worth every sent!!! Do it and you will understand.
  20. I am not 100% sure about the size. There is a sticker on the bike saying 58 but I bought it as a 56. I am 1.86cm. There is something about the inside leg etc etc I don't understand all that..... Best is to go for a ride and see if its comfy... Well I think a fair price would be R25,000. (this is probably R10k less than what I have spent on it but the 2nd hand TT market is not that big) This includes 2 sets of wheels. (the stock felt wheels and a 4spoke/disk combo) I think the groupset is Dura Ace although I still have to decide between this and the Campy record (that I am getting with the Specialised) which to fit to what bike. The B12 new model will probably retail for R30,000+ and this will be stock parts. My bike has better parts and the wheels are awesome (in my opinion) I still have to decide if I wanna sell the wheels separately... Whatever will work the easiest. (prob selling everything in one go...) The above is also subject to expert input from my LBS...
  21. Look out for it at Midlands Ultra 1 December!! And the Aldam Olympic on 26 October.
  22. The 35km club will do nicely thanks. I have to run and swim as well.........
