  1. We have a winner!!! LMFAO
  2. Read the Eat to Run by Scott Jurek. Understanding the mental side of things is critically important.
  3. Once your bike has been checked in, hang around for a while and check the tyres again. I have more than once arrived on race morning and then boom a flat tyre in transition. This really freaks you out and then you also use your spare tube even before race start. It is amazing how many thorns are in the transition areas.
  4. Make sure everything is tightened on your bike before the race start. Among other things that have fallen off my bike in and outside races are... The whole bottlecage holder thingy at the back of my saddle My gear shifter at the front of the TT Bar (don't ask me how - it happened)
  5. Some bikes are faster than others. I have a few bikes and the one is definitely a lot "faster". When I pedal the same then I go faster with that bike.
  6. So wie besluit in waste Cat mens inskryf of maak dit nie saak nie??
  7. Haha ek was nie daar nie. Sal sien of ek dit more maak!
  8. Ekt jou by die begin (2 minute voor die wegspring) so vining gegroet! (of bedoel jy by Makro?)
  9. Don't let anyone give you *** regarding the technical nature of the route. It was well documented upfront so we all knew what we got ourselves into. I actually quite enjoyed it. Next maybe just try and put the first water point at 10km already.
  10. How technical is the route??
  11. I will definitely be back next year....
  12. My doc tied a machine to my arm. I wore it for 24 hours and it took readings every 45 minutes. Problem was that every time I heard this thing blow up, I knew I had to relax and that made me stress even more! In the end I had 2 options.... Go on chronic medicine or give up the HUB. My dosage was reviewed and increased last week.
  13. Well I guess it depends. If you are a recreational cyclist then I can't see a problem. The Doc prescribed those meds for a reason. Normally they see you a week after to see if the pill did work and all that and follow up. He probably saw you where cycling for fun (your Hub name "Vetseun" ), hence pre-scribed the best meds on the market for you. In any case any advantage gained would be minimal at our level.
  14. Coversyl + (of generies Vectoryl +) of andersom. Dit is "legit" en het geen nagevolge nie.Inteendeel as ek vir een dag die pil skip dan maak ek hout vir 6 ure nonstop. Die "drukking" loop dan mooi
  15. You have no idea..... Next year if I don't do this race, I will still go. Even if it is only to watch the front runners go down some of those hills. There where sections where I literally locked front and back brakes and still went faster and faster. I was eyeballing which bush would hurt the least and then aimed for it. The question is not if you would crash but how many times. It was incredibly rocky as well so you didn't want to go down. I was lucky I guess.
  16. Ran the 10km in 49 minutes. PB for me so that was great. 35km was tough. I have done 100km MTB rides that was way easier. I think my time of 3 hours puts it into perspective. But I loved it. These character building races prepares one well for Ironman. Maybe next time they should give maps to everyone. Then at least people can revert to something if they are unsure....
  17. No worries George. . Some advice. Maybe use different colour chalk to mark the different routes.
  18. Its so silent and peacefully here... Now we await the normal hub sharks to somehow come and mess up this thread with some stoopid post of some sort.... But ja I have to agree. ASG is good service all the way...
  19. I can confirm that this in fact a legitimate competition with legitimate prizes . Just got my hamper!! Thanks guys
  20. A Shoprite bag works even better.
  21. I was tempted to rather enter for this but I heard it is a bit technical and I cannot afford to break a leg right now so I decided on the 35km.....
  22. Cool so I don't have to strap my paws..
  23. How technical is the 10km trial run?
  24. The triathlon plus magazine has an advert in every month. It is one specific brand (X-lab or something) and there are about 10 different types of hydration options.
  25. And if it is too expensive to enter races it will also never grow. Well for us to get more athletes into the Olympics we need points (World Series Points). Great Britain had 3 athletes (I think we had 1) ... hence they used 1 upfront to do all the work on the bike (making sure Murray doesn't catch them as well) and then the Brownlees ran away with Gomez.... Only way Murray will win is if he swims faster or get more guys to work on the bike which will also not happen as most countries only have 1 oke in the Olympics. Hence Britain and Australias massive advantage. They can race as teams while the others cant.... There is an interesting article Brett Sutton wrote on the rules - google it... In terms of the above certain countries even went as far as to send certain athletes to "gain points" on the world circuit while the actual "Olympic racers" where on a training camp. Therefore the guys gaining the points didn't even race London!!! And the guys who didn't had a massive advantage as their competitors had to fight up until 10 days before London to gain points just to qualify whilst they where building it up nicely at camp......
