  1. More money is being spent on researching undetectable doping products than actually researching detection methods. With all the new stuff going around we could see a sharp increase in the average speed of the TDF peloton this year.
  2. So I will replace my asthma canister with this stuff!!
  3. Where do you carry the microwave to heat up your food?
  4. Maybe you should just carry a spare bike?
  5. Swiss I agree with Dave The 2 loop course will help in this regard. You therefore only carry what you need for 90km's. Special needs bags are there to help us. I will carry only one small bottle (500ml) in which I will mix a very strong carb drink on the back of the bike - this I will change over at special needs. I also have a front bottle cage that I will fill with 200ml water only and fill up completely on top of the first hill and from there on as needed, at no stage do I want more than 1 litre/kg of fluids on my bike as I believe it is not effective. People pay R35,000 for a frame that weights 2kg's lighter but then they put four bottle on it and only really start drinking at 60km. Oh and I will eat a few gels along the route since my entry was so expensive.
  6. Somehow I doubt you will get anything back from TSA.......
  7. Mine too
  8. I got them from a LBS.
  9. I don't know. I was wondering about this as well. I am normally a sucker for a specials so I rarely just buy. But the tubbies was "new" as far as I know. But none of the tyres was "stored" after purchase.
  10. I am around 83kg. I mainly ride a TT bike and I ride smooth surfaces. Here is a photo of the one tyre. Its a Conti GP TT. Like I said the other tyre is still 100%
  11. I have now been disappointed a third time with my Conti's. My First GP 4,000's (clinchers) rear tyre lasted 300km before the wall casing gave in. Sent them back but they said it was my fault. (not a factory fault). I did not hit anything. Then I got a set of their top of the range racing clinchers from which the front wheel lasted 500km before the rubber on the side started cracking so that you could see the inner tube through the outside wall. (like when a tyre was lying around for 5 years and now you fit it and pump it really hard...). The other tyre is 100%... Now recently I bought 2 x GP4,000 tubbies for my racing wheels. The first time I rode them I felt a slight wobble. They now have 400km on them and the front wheel has a slight deformation once again (like it has a small bobble in it). A bike expert says I either hit a pavement or its a defective wheel. I didn't hit anything. I can ride it as is as it will not harm my bike or me, it is just uncomfortable. Not even going to send it away as the feedback is always the same it seems. Time to move on. Got 2 x Tufo's in my mancave and will fit them just before Ironman. Done with Conti's. Maybe I am just unlucky but I expected more from their product / after sales
  12. So this year the TDF average speeds will also be up again (like the year EPO came out and could also not be tested for at that time.........) More money is spent on researching and developing untraceable drugs for sport than for developing tracing ways itself (according to David Walsh). So I would not be surprised if this drug has been in circulation for a some time already.... One day when they have figured out how to test for it those frozen samples would make interesting testing once again....
  13. See what the thickest legal suit is you can get. Every mm helps for floatation purposes.
  14. They have to give you free "stuff" to make you feel that you are actually getting value of some sort. They try and add value to their product so that they can ask more. Its like race packs at normal cycle races. Did you think the organisers actually pay for the lube, shampoo, expired Omega tablets or the October 2009 edition of Popular Mechanics that you get for free.... They cant ask R4,000 and give you nothing......... At least the after party at IM last year had good food. Anyways have you seen what the nice shirts costs at the expos? It seems slapping an IM logo on anything warrants a 600% price increase. Maybe that's their plan, to force you to buy a proper IM shirt at R500........... I bought a jacket after my 1st IM. Never bought anything IM again.... The whole world doesn't need to know I have done it.
  15. Has there been any responses at all from the IM office?
  16. How will the finishers T-shirt look???
  17. Or your arse?
  18. Indeed Dave. I have worked on my swim so I probably wont catch you ever again...
  19. @Davem I am still wearing my Midlands Rubber bands to remind me of catching you on the run
  20. They never seem to respond............
  21. Haha and some of them also wears the hat, plakkies and the rubberbands they hand out at the expo...
  22. You have to remember that the 70.3 is like the Comrades for a lot of people and bragging rights is very important. I mean some oke's have their km's ridden and podiums achieved on their Hub avatars as an example. A finisers T-shirt is serious business. Its the one of the only few things that you will ever wear that was earned.
  23. Hahahaha!!! Did you at least also get a beer and chicken with your T-shirt like at a standard political rally??
  24. All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others. .
  25. My mileage currently is around 50 - 60km. I feel I can bump it up to 100km without any injuries. Every athlete is different. I have been training/racing for 15 years so I am confident that my body can take it. If you can run 42km then you can run 50km and then 60km...................... Also I have found that trail running reduces injuries considerably... But I am not doing comrades so I guess it is irrelevant.
