  1. I don't know I run with guys who train 700km from Jan to Comrades and have a ball of a time at Comrades. The biggest problem is staying injury free during the big weeks especially when you start doing ultras and Easter 100 runs. Thats why you need to build up running over time to stay injury free. Too much too soon an bam something pops and you are out. I did Comrades last year after a 8 year rest . I only started running again Oct 2017 and easily finished Comrades even being overweight. It's up to you to decide you will know if you are ready How does you legs feels doing 80-100km on a week ? Sent from my Redmi 4X using Tapatalk
  2. Tomorrow our little group is starting with our mid week longs runs. 4am start . I always have a problem staying awake in meetings after lunch time :-) Sent from my Redmi 4X using Tapatalk
  3. I must be the dumbest runner ever. I get up every morning and go for a 10km run , speed of the run is determined by how I feel on the day. Some days fast some days slow but mostly somewhere in between. Weekends I'll try for a longer run of 25km+ or race somewhere. But I'm just a social runner , running because I enjoy it. I'll never make top 10 or even top 100 for that matter so timing really doesn't matter. I'm extremely happy with sub 4h marathon or 1h45 half or whatever " goal" I set myself 2 minutes before the start of a race. I don't have the genetics or desire to run that much faster than what I'm currently managing. I never had injury problems until I tried doing quality sessions with the faster runners begining of this year. Busted my knee and battled for 4 weeks. Im actually in the same club as Lindsey. I tried following his program , but I hated taking a rest day on days when I wanted to be out running, or running up and down the same hill for the sake of ticking it off a to do list. Now I'm back to my usual junk slown and consistent miles and it works for me. I know the philosophy is work smarter not harder but some of us are doomed to always work harder. For me following a structured program makes it all to serious for a fun runner like myself. For other it makes them win races which is what gives them enjoyment. Every year my mate with 800km of Comrades training kilos beats me and I usually do double that. Sent from my Redmi 4X using Tapatalk

  12. Wow so havent been on the board for a while. Life gets in the way but Im still running. Overtrained a bit in Jan and picked up terrible knee pain. I lowered the milage and knee is almost back to normal. Reason for my post is to share the antics of my local running buddies. The links tell the story. I want to cry for missing out on the running part (knee was still shot) https://www.dropbox.com/s/po1u2euod7wr8j0/JP%20Runner%20Ode%20to%20Andy.mp4?dl=0 https://youtu.be/NZJhcoNU4fo
