  1. You right too. There is no problem with that but what do we want from it? Some battles are worth fighting. Choose wisely.
  2. Ok, so what do we do then, short of telling them we think they're lying? I can see that going down well. What part of "you may not enter for the *many reason* provided." do you not accept?
  3. As you say, "appears". Maybe you are right and there really is some conspiracy against us, what purpose will assessing the trails serve? There is no-one to ride them.
  4. That means a lot, thanks! But the whole committee really deserves the gratitude. Seems members have all been a bit busy and a meeting date is finally set for Thursday. There should be a newsletter coming out soon after to condense all the info into one spot. I feel the same. It takes quite some motivation to keep posting about the closure.
  5. Sure, no prob. Which statement was that again?
  6. Going to months, certainly nothing shorter than 4 the way things currently stand. If we were in a position to help save or put critically injured animals down, carry out scientific studies into geology or biology, or even fell trees as part of the Cape Pine contract we would more than likely be up there now with clear contractual agreements in place. But since we would just go up to look at the mountain bike tracks or check the lay of the land before required to for the vision doc, I don't think any of the other user groups would see that as serving much purpose and start asking the same question you just did. Sadly, Tokai still closed..
  7. Absolutely. Saw the TMB tweets this morning and it basically looked like the fact that Tokai and S'mine is off limits, you should get a refund. There is still black/Red hill and I know that Red hill has just recently spent 35k of PPA donated monies in the trail so could be worth exploring! TokaiMTB is looking into ploughing some love into this area too making the trek worthwhile. Will have more info on this in some time. Watch Twitter, FB and sign up for the newsletter (http://tokaimtb.co.za/subscribe-to-newsletter/)
  8. Only thing I can suggest is to email Parks.. process wasn't discussed this morning but assuming the permit dept (when they hear about it, or through enough enquiries) can answer the questions.. may save you a trip if you were to go down to the Tokai offices.. Contact here. tablemountain@sanparks.org http:// Webiste detailswwbit.ly/1CQAjbo
  9. ha ha, ja.. no go. Funny, the first guy was not only in the park while it was still burning, he was on a motorbike too which is really asking for k@k, heard he's from the media. Myles, Mark, could be that guy we heard making his way up through Chrysalis as that's how he gained access.. it was about that time too.
  10. Logging underway on upper slopes and includes weekends to beat winter delays. Watercourses being cleared for winter prep and wood stakes for silt retention ordered from milling team. Intervention will continue regardless of emergency funding finalisation timeline. Lot's of activity right now.. looking good for mountain biking btw..
  11. Glad you highlighted the important bits, several people have already incurred unexpected costs for ignoring the closure, some even despite being warned not to enter. You'll surely read about it somewhere, "unfairly fined in Tokai by SANP", or it will be used against them much later in some unrelated argument.. Let it be said that the value of the fine even invoked a choke from me.. much higher than we have ever made reference to.. considerably. a lot. laaaank!
  12. Capitan, it's not a rumour.. Parks will just calculate the refund based on the the time remaining on the card, that is of course if you don't want to cycle anywhere else in the reserve.
  13. Ok, I've just retweeted the notice from TMNP and will stick something on FB. In the meantime here are the locations where the sessions will be held. We are still waiting on new dates however and will retweet and share when available. Probably best for anyone interested in these matters to follow Park's twitter and FB feeds. They are putting the notices out but if you aren't tuned in you may miss it.. Best to read the draft plan and have an understanding of it before going in. The presentation really is just that, and serves to answer questions that is not clear in the doc. Pay special attention to the zoning as this is the basis for where mountain bike will be permitted - following it's own planning sessions of course. If you cannot register online, be assured that you can do so at the info session beforehand. Take a pen. "Stakeholders are further invited to attend public information sessions at one of the venues listed below and comment on aspects relating to these plans." Park Date and time Venue TMNP POSTPONED - Simon’s Town Museum, Court Road, Simons Town POSTPONED - Newlands Conference Room, Newlands Forest Station, Union Avenue (M3) POSTPONED - Fish Hoek Civic Hall, Central Circle, Fish Hoek POSTPONED - Cape Town Central Library, Drill Hall, Darling Street, Cape Town POSTPONED - Edith Stephens Nature Reserve, Govan Mbeki Road, Philippi POSTPONED - Khayelitsha Resource Centre, Makabeni Road, Khayeltisha POSTPONED - Rocklands Minor Hall, Cnr Spine & Park Roads, Rocklands, Mitchell’s Plain
  14. Extended to May.. please hold, I'll check the date..8 May. The management plan is high level and written in broad strokes. Not intended for fine detail.. There are documents within each area covered in the 2015 plan that describe the activities in closer detail. You'll see there is mention of this activity throughout. Only areas where mountain bike not permitted is Remote Core and High intensity leisure.. Low intensity, not sure (memory failing) unless we plan for skills park, pump track etc..
  15. Indeed. I think the message really did make rounds on all the other channels. Did you see this pic and the news reports on SABC..? Check, we are figherfighters! You can't see it here too clearly but that's me in the red running to the back where the flames were..
  16. Oh, good suggestion. There will be a lot to talk about in the next instalment, that's for sure!. I'm glad you think Merle is doing a good job, she gets so much flak being head of comms at Sanparks. (TMNP)
  17. Not a lot of newsworthy stuff but stuff none-the-less, mostly what people were seeing on the ground. Think during this time we were relying on Facebook and twitter to get all that trail building goodness out to you kind folk. Hey, it's all out there if ANYONE is interested. (Damn' caps lock acting up again.. must be a case of Dipslick )
  18. Think it might be good to set them up as a blog entry. Knowing who wants and does not want what is possibly quite a bit of admin.. Thanks for suggesting. As Capitan says, there is a lot of history where mountain biking in the area is concerned but a lot was rebooted when Tokai was adopted into the reserve in 2005m, and then again in 2012 when head office moved into the area. The precinct plan is by far the biggest development to take place here since.. well, ever. Will chat to Capitan to develop a summary of events for the site.
  19. Sh!aat, no guy, our mistake!! Thanks for spotting!
