  1. Whats happening with the woman? Arianne Kleinhans not through waterpoint 1?
  2. I just fitted a new xt chain and casette to my 1x10 setup. On the 36t at the back it still sounds a bit noisy, probably due to chain alignment. Is there a specific way to make it sound "smoother" or should I just get used to the rough sound?
  3. What casette/ chainring combo did you use up mamba and mount moody? I'm not sure if I will get up there with my 32t and 11-36...
  4. hi Guys So I bought a 10 speed medium cage xt derailleur yesterday. All is good now, proper chain tension (even without the clutch engaged). Looks like my old derailleur can also be put under the "Sabie marathon aftermath" list of repairs... Can not wait to take the new setup for a spin
  5. you guys are fast, answering my questions before I finished typing...
  6. Thanks for the quick reply guys. It looks like my xt is a long cage...Time for some shopping then...SHould I go medium or short cage for the 10 speed setup?
  7. Hi there. I removed the derailleur and shifter and installed my new leo daisy chainring. I am however struggling with chain tension. I shortened the chain, so on the 36t back cog the derailleur is quite stretched out, but on the 11t sprocket there is noticeable slack in the chain . I am using a xt shadow derailleur, but it seems that on the lower gears the derailleur is not tensioning the chain as it should. Should I shorten the chain some more or look at a new derailleur? I had chain suck issues in the Sabie mud and wonder if the whole clutch mechanism might be damaged. Can someone please post pics of their setup and chain tension on the highest and lowest gears?
  8. Mine will arrive today and will hopefully give feedback after the weekend...
  9. Did anyone ride with a 1x10 setup with 32 in front and 36-11 at the back? Would like to hear if it was possible?
  10. I suffered chain suck up the first climb and the stopped and engaged the clutch on my xt derailleur. Even with the clutch engaged, it made a horrible noise and I was waiting for something to break! I then stopped more regularly to clean and lube the chain, that is all that helped.
  11. My xt 2x10 setup chain suck caused me to stop at least 10 times during the race... Seriously considering 1x10, but not sure I would make it up the mamba or mount moody with a 32x36
  12. Where can we find race photos?
  13. It was Freddie Pienaar. He was a pro road rider some years ago. Do not know if he is on the hub.
  14. I also saw the cyclocross man. Respect for those thin wheels in the mud!
  15. What a tough marathon! Well done to all who finished. (and started ) Water points were brilliant, technical downhills were awesome although VERY slippery. Now to get all the mud out my ears and now I have a good excuse to upgrade some parts on my bike...What happened on the Ultra with the pros? Were the Bulls just in a league of their own?
  16. Speak to the guys at Clarens Xtreme. When we were there, one guy took us out on the sunday morning at 6 for some awesome singletrack riding around Clarens. You can also buy maps and access arm bands at their shop and go ride on your own.
  17. Lots of routes around the dam, but not sure which gates will be locked. You can also head to breedsnek climb from there. I would definitely take the MTB.
  18. Mmmmm, not so sure hey...That route is a tough one!
  19. Just put a race number over your crack and then always ride in the time trial position...
  20. I put on some new tires on my wheel set without adding any sealant. However when I shake the wheels I can hear some sloshing of liquid inside. The wheels are fully tubeless, how do I 1) Get the old sealant out 2) Prevent new sealant from going between the rim and rim tape?
  21. I am back on crossmarks. Tried Ikons but got a nice smiley and flat on the rear when I struck a rock. Was running at the same pressure as I always did with the crossmarks, so off went the ikons . I'd rather roll with a heavier tire than bash my rims and be stuck with punctures.
  22. Anyone?
  23. Sorry for the hijack, but are your time cleats curved like the suplest shoe sole or are the cleats flat? I bought new shoes but when I tried fastening the old cleats to the new shoes, there is a gap on the bottom between the sole and the cleat... Do I need new cleats (curved)?
  24. The XO1 blade with 104 BCD (Bolt circle diameter) will fit most standard cranksets. Saw them at CWC online...Otherwise you can buy a XO1 crankset or XX1 crankset with their blades.
  25. Hi there. I have the same fork and was confused as well. Please note that there should still be travel in when in "C" mode. It is not a full lockout. Climb, Trail and Descend modes. Mine does not lock out fully on C mode, but I can definitely feel a difference in travel between the three modes.
