  1. Sold out again? I entered early this morning.
  2. Yes! They opened a few more 70km entries!
  3. Just pace yourself.Definitely not a gravel travel 70km. The terrain is the real killer, not the distance or climbing. Lots of thick sand and lots and lots of rocks.
  4. I also need an entry please... 70km full...
  5. I tried to enter online now, but only short distances are given as entry options. Is the 70km sold out???
  6. Needed a circlip plier to remove circlip... Only on the slr version
  8. Hi. I need help removing the front wheel bearings. It seems like the disc side bearing has a spacer at the back and does not look like it can be just tapped outwards?
  9. Same day as Magalies Monster
  10. I luckily received a funnel with my previous bike, but apparently they are hard to find. Then I just bought a syringe from dischem (R10) and some fish tank air tubing (R5). Just make sure to use the Shimano mineral oil. (R160/50mL)
  11. Glad I did not bugger the seals...Manual on their web site still shows bleeding from the bottom? Just glad it is working again.
  12. I struggled with my rear xt brake which was spongy. Even after bleeding the brake from the caliper to the funnel it was still spongy. I then finally removed the caliper from the frame and then bled it from the top funnel towards the calliper. That forced a lot of air bubbles from the caliper. Feels like a new brake now
  13. Oh I fitted the chain using the big chainring method without running chain through deraileur, but then added 4 links instead of two...
  14. hi guys. Please help! I'm running 1x10 with xt medium cage shadow deraileur and 32t leo daisy front chainring. Works like a dream, but I have had three chain drops on rocky sections. I might have been conservative with the chain length, should I remove another link?
  15. You need to remove the old rim tape.
  16. Whats happening with the woman? Arianne Kleinhans not through waterpoint 1?
  17. I just fitted a new xt chain and casette to my 1x10 setup. On the 36t at the back it still sounds a bit noisy, probably due to chain alignment. Is there a specific way to make it sound "smoother" or should I just get used to the rough sound?
  18. What casette/ chainring combo did you use up mamba and mount moody? I'm not sure if I will get up there with my 32t and 11-36...
  19. hi Guys So I bought a 10 speed medium cage xt derailleur yesterday. All is good now, proper chain tension (even without the clutch engaged). Looks like my old derailleur can also be put under the "Sabie marathon aftermath" list of repairs... Can not wait to take the new setup for a spin
  20. you guys are fast, answering my questions before I finished typing...
  21. Thanks for the quick reply guys. It looks like my xt is a long cage...Time for some shopping then...SHould I go medium or short cage for the 10 speed setup?
  22. Hi there. I removed the derailleur and shifter and installed my new leo daisy chainring. I am however struggling with chain tension. I shortened the chain, so on the 36t back cog the derailleur is quite stretched out, but on the 11t sprocket there is noticeable slack in the chain . I am using a xt shadow derailleur, but it seems that on the lower gears the derailleur is not tensioning the chain as it should. Should I shorten the chain some more or look at a new derailleur? I had chain suck issues in the Sabie mud and wonder if the whole clutch mechanism might be damaged. Can someone please post pics of their setup and chain tension on the highest and lowest gears?
  23. Mine will arrive today and will hopefully give feedback after the weekend...
  24. Did anyone ride with a 1x10 setup with 32 in front and 36-11 at the back? Would like to hear if it was possible?
  25. I suffered chain suck up the first climb and the stopped and engaged the clutch on my xt derailleur. Even with the clutch engaged, it made a horrible noise and I was waiting for something to break! I then stopped more regularly to clean and lube the chain, that is all that helped.
