  2. Surely the need to charge the Edge 500 is a hassle?
  3. Pity about the Tar - probably only about 1 or 2km km out of 162km was on tar

  7. I have both the Thule hanging rack and also the platform for my carbon bikes. I can?t see how a carbon frame will crack due to the hanging? There are however 2 problems with the Thule hanging rack you should be aware of. Firstly as mentioned by DanielXT, the rack swivels on the tow bar ball when there is a moderate wind blowing or when vehicle speed is too high ? both your bike and vehicle bumper can get damaged. Furthermore, the Thule straps are not strong enough to hold the frame on to the rack particularly when there is a moderate wind blowing outside and/or when car speed gets near 100km or less if windy ? so you need to use additional tie?s. I have stopped using the Thule hanging rack unless over short distances at slow speeds with only one bike with extra tie downs.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

  11. This is called paying school fees
  12. Hi Coenie, Sounds like you did the 70km Swartland route on Saturday and, like me, also had a "sense of humour failure"? see https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=59689&PN=2 PPA are responsible for the seeding (through racetec). I have given up asking them to keep it simple and just seed everyone on our PPA rides without bothering with the complication of adjusting the winners time based on last Argus etc The event organisers are responsible for route marking and other route info - not PPA - as I understand it. I don't know who decides on the cut-off time for the timing mats / prize giving etc but I am sure the organisers will also have a say here?
  13. you should get a bike fit done at a cycle shop - part of the service. You can also check out http://www.wrenchscience.com/Store.aspx?stylecode=R then click on Fit system ? you will need to register as a new user.
  14. Seems like VDO is good option. I have been using both the CICLOMASTER CM8.3AM http://ciclosport-online.com and Sigma Sport BC2006 MHR http://www.sigmasport.com/en/produkte/bikecomputer/ <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />Prefer the CICLOMASTER. Both suffer because optional extras are not freely availabe.

    AMA 100miler

Thanks Nix TCR for posting Meurant and Arina's email - although have entered the 100miler.. did not get the email.
  16. The tube will inflate slowly if you push the bomb hard against the valve. I noticed that happening on mine. Maybe the pressure closes off the valve on the inner tube? Try and back off the pressure a bit and the tube will inflate quickly.
  17. Go for the Polar. I have the Sigma BC2006. Fork mount is crap (rubber band that perishes) and I can't get hold of the 2nd bike transmitter from the supplier (it is not coded so needs to be a specific 2nd bike uinit).
  18. Hijack!
  19. Yes. departure date is flexible.
  20. A visitor from US arriving for the Argus is looking for an organised cycle tour from PE to Cape town leaving PE from 25 Feb - allowing 10 days to arrive in Cape Town on Friday March 6. Shorter options can also be considered.
  21. Letter from Cape Argus 21Apr08
  22. Are attendance figures dropping for MTB events? Or are the results incomplete? Or is there some other reason? This last weekend's results show: 49 finishers for Eselfontein 70km and 53 for the 40km. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> 36 finishers for Stellenbosch Wes 55k and 57 for the 40km
  23. It was good to see some hand cyclists with a decent red flag warning mounted on top of pole/aerial on their recumbent 3 wheelers. Think this should be compulsory. With them starting up front, it is quite scary as the pack suddenly opens up to pass.
  24. double check what wheel size you entered into your ciclosport hac4 pro plus. If you made a mistake and entered 2013 (instead of 2103) this would explain the difference. At 2013mm for 456 wheel revolutions you get 91.79km. At 2103mm you get 95.89km which seems to be the correct distance as per the Garmin
