Might even be a bit more than 8 km Stevief as after that real steap climb after the pipeline we turn right and go down the hill instead of going on to Wangenela dam so cuts out that nasty little climb before the dam. Will be riding the whole route this Sunday to put it into the GPS so will let you know.

Most are long and gradual but the one just before and after the pipe line is steep but not too long.

Hi Hairy the permanent marking are not up yet. If you go past the pipeline and do the steep climb after that carry on if you hit a gate that takes you to Wangenela you have gone too far. About 50 m before the gate you will see a track going off to the right (it is a little hidden) that is the new great down hill which will take you all the way back to the farm.

Very nice but isn't it cheating to have a MTB bike under 9.5 kg's.

Hi guys the Eselfontain MTB Festival will take place the weekend of the 19+20 of October with a lot more new single track. The 35 km pretty much stays the same as last year being a less technical as the previous 40 km ride a few years ago. The 65km is a great ride with alot more new single track being added just after the halfway point, trust me you won't be disappointed. Here is a few pics of the new single track being cleared.

This is right got about that for 2011 Garmin 705 and about the same 2012 Garmin 800.

RD cable broke 35 km in had to change the bike to a single speed sub 4 out the window, training partner did it. I don't know how those single speed guys do it you have to stand up on the steap climbs and then your legs spin out 25 km/h......respect. Good time for your first time milky not easy to know how fast to go at the start.

I think that Honda machine was the bike he rode after the 2003 world champs.

According to my Garmin its 1280m for 2012 and I got 1301m for 2011.

+1 and well priced I will upgrading to these when I get my 29 er later this year. Spoke to the Hanekom brothers (20th in the epic) they ride them, they say they are a little soft and dent a little but then they are crazy on the downhills so I'm not surprised.

I also worked on the front in the beginning but I'm not the best climber so I moved back on boyes, then it split and I was fooked. Got my Noddy badge for working in the front did you get yours?

I agree we had a big split in B group on that downhill, sub 3 shot to hell.
