  1. Yet the numbers / reviews are saying it's not really playing properly in that category. I agree that they seem to have missed the boat on what they could have done or how they could have pushed it. Surely a company like Canyon would hardly have let that one just 'get missed' along the development route. Maybe they were looking for something aimed at the everyman rather than a few hundred guys going #fullenduro. They obviously have some plan as the HA is 66 and SA is 74.5 on their other recent release, the Spectral but of course that's a trail bike and 650b. I was surprised they didn't grow the chainstays a bit on the bigger sizes. Edit: Canyon did say PinkBike were actually on the wrong size. So fit seems to be a key thing.
  2. If you look in the dictionary under 'burley' it might just have that shot. That looks like the Kim K ass of the tyre world.
  3. Just like porn, the reality is slightly different. http://cdn.media.cyclingnews.com/2019/01/13/1/bettiniphoto_0369367_1_originali_670_670.jpg
  4. Truthfully I was underwhelmed by that new kit. Rapha have the ability, resource and knowledge to carve something slightly better. Is you look at the Canyon SRAM kit that was a pretty unique move while this feels like the reasons it is what is is bigger the actual finished product. All the 'disrupter' talk would have gone down singing hymns in the boardroom presentation but in reality it's a pink kit that someone spilt some blue on that doesn't match the colour of the shorts. You look about at the plethora of smaller kit makers that have great designs that are not to 'out there' that you could integrate the key sponsors requirements into and you have to think that Rapha have become a bit to corporate and a bit too bloated.
  5. That makes sense I hadn't thought about that. I rode a friends one with a 140 fork on it and Jonkers. It was such a capable bike on all the trails and so fun in the high setting not sure slacking it out would give you much plus points. Sure it being a 29er helps on a 120mm rear end but that's the point, it's about the whole. Hell of a bike, you must be pretty happy.
  6. I thought the Following was a 67.4 in high and 66.8 in low? Either way I think there is too much attention paid to the HA and the SA numbers alone. It's all you hear talk of. The 'old' numbers of the Following V1 were good enough to make them come out with the MB and keep it virtually the same. I'd say the area of 66.5 is probably the perfect alrounder but it is about how the package works as a whole. Having said that the best bikes I've ridden and enjoyed the most for the trails here in SA are slightly more than that. Last 65 angle bike I rode was so hard to get any fun out of and that was touted as a quiver killer in the review. Which was done in Squamish. Which is no where near what we ride here.
  7. I was under the impression WT were for the over 30mm rims and standard 2.4s etc were the go to on 30mm ID. Alot of people seem to have had issues with Ibex but I've always liked them. They do get to a point where they look fine but will then start putting you on your arse and you think you're just riding *** but it's time to replace them. I liked the grip and the rolling resistance alot. I have to say I really like a 2.6 Slaughter on 30mm rims out back in Grid casing (really want a black Diamond casing there) and from the few rides on the 2.6 Eliminator on the front (also Grid) it's really nice. Mid pack in terms of rolling resistance and could go faster but it's not a light tyre tbh.
  8. When will you be releasing the stages / profiles? Very interested in this but want to see what we're in for.
  9. Just got me a 2.6 Spez' Slaughter and a 2.6 Spez' Eliminator combo and they are awesome. Slaughter in the bigger profile is just more better'r and the 2.6 Eliminator is really very good. Way better than the Butcher. Not the old bargain prices that Specialized tyres used to be but still on par with most other offerings.

  11. Post your thoughts, musings and photos of your holy rail in action on your bike.
  12. I'd love to ride the 'Machine'. You know despite the designer saying don't buy the Stamina unless you are planning on it being a pure enduro race bike for anything other than steepest gnar you can find as you'll be sorely disappointed there will be people will be 'oh yeah that will be an awesome bike for Hoogies / the spruit / Tokai'.
  13. Oh you didn't! Well considering Perth is closer fo Jakata than any city back home i think bagus, bagus, bagus should be the call!
  14. Side wall. That is the key, there are some great profiles out there that are renders useless by the side wall stiffness.
  15. No niner? I was looking forward to what they had done with it this year. Always have a trouble watching Levy in these reviews. He always looks like he's about to steal the bike on test and sell it around the back for bottles of 40oz. So far I'm drooling over that Kona.
  16. Nah, no need for a FOMO in the rear.
  17. Because it's uber cool to get the longest travel, alpine sled available and then boast about your 5mm extra travel when with mates on what amounts to XCO trails.
  18. For the price and the strength they are a steal. I went with these over the Flows and haven't regretted it. As said the free hub does gouge but the is pretty much most any way. American Classic had a great solution to this but no one else ever really bothered to address it. Also the Rapide wheels that Kiwi build are well worth a look. Nothing but good feedback from them as well and equally good service.
  19. Good score!
